Street Fighter 2026 Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

Video game movies have been getting alot more better recently and while there have been a few misfires as there are bound to be alot of them have genuinely been really good and getting sequels of their own. Well ow we have a new video game movie out there that looks to prove to be the best live action Street Fighter movie which considering what it's up against isn't exactly a high bar to reach and to then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the movie that is the first Paramount movie released under the Skydance banner with the film in question bring called simply just "Street Fighter" enjoy.

The plot of this film is six years after his master is killed in battle skilled marital artist Ryu must team with his estranged best friend Ken , Ken's friend Dan Hibiki and journalist Chun-Li to help defeat the evil M. Bison and stop hm from unleashing an evil beast. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. To be frank this films plot is alot more better then what it really had any right to be as by all rights this films plot should have been really bad and yet you can tell that there is some thought and effort going into making this films plot be a pretty decent plot. The issue is tho is that this is a film that is clearly meant to be a dumb action movie and yet every one in the film treats the plot as if it's something serious which is something that des make what should have been a plot that you can laugh along with instead now comes across as being a plot that you laugh along at as everybody is treating this plot really seriously as this is film where oddly enough having the more weaker plot would make it more better as much like with the Fast & Furious plots no one is going to be going to this movie for the plot but what they are going for it for is the action and this is something that does mean that there can be a little less effort put on the plot as everybody knows full well then it's not going to be the best of plots and if this films plot did lean into that then it would be all the more better for it with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Noah Centineo as Ken Masters , Andrew Koji as Ryu and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Also starring in this film is Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoa'i as Akuma , David Dastmalchian as M. Bison , Cody Rhodes as Guile , Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki , Eric André as Don Sauvage , Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim , Orville Peck as Vega , Don Lee as Gouken , Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Balrog , one of this films producers Jason Momoa as Blanka , Olivier Richters as Zangief , Hirooki Goto as E. Honda , Rayna Vallandingham as Juli , Kyle Mooney as Marvin , Alexander Volkanovski as Joe and Mortal Kombat star Mel Jarnson as Cammy.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that this film does have some really good acting in it is something that is both not entirely surprising but also still pretty shocking to say the least it's shocking in the fact that alot of the films main actors aren't really proven stars and therefor when they do turn in a good performance it is something that does take you by surprise however in saying this the actors that you know full well can turn in a good performance like for example David Dastmalchian and Jason Momoa do give us some really good and fun performances in this film. With the best actor in the whole entire film being David Dastmalchian as M. Bison as if you've seen Late Night With The Devil then you will know that he can play these types of roles well and hat he is a really good actor and while of course he won't be as good as Raul Julia was in the 1994 movie David Dastmalchian is still really good as the same character in this film with him truly going out of his way to make us hate the character of M. Bison sometimes just by giving you a look and while Raul Julia went over the top with his performance which is something that did help to serve the more over the top nature of that film David's more understated performance helps this film with his own natural charm really shining through in this film. With the acting that's in this very film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does help to hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Double Negative , the legends and the greats that are currently over at Framestore , Od Studios and Niche VFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that we have some good looking CGI in this film is something that does make alot of sense as the film did have a high budget and therefor would have been able to have a high effects budget which is something that does make CGI characters like Blanka be all the more believable as he does blend in really well with the films live action filming. Heck the film does even have some fantastic animation done by Titmouse, Inc. which looks so good and heck if the film was more like those animated scenes then no one would be angry at this movie or think that it's bad as the animation in those scenes is so well done that all it does make you want there to be an animated Street Fighter series done in the style of those animated segments with both the films CGI and the animation really doing alot of the heavy lifting for the film as they make you think that the film will be really good due to to how good that they are and sadly the film isn't that good but on the plus side tho when we do get to see a really cool effects shot or a really cool animated scene it is something that that does stand out and that does give you a brief glimpse of just how much fun that this movie could have been if it wasn't afraid of being a just a dumb action movie.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whilst the 1994 Street Fighter movie was campy that movie knew full well to be a fun and dumb film and it is something that does result in the film being all the more memorable because of it. Whereas here tho in this film due to the fact that everything is played super straight it isn't that much fun to watch as even in the scenes with Ken at the start of the film where he's saying that he had no idea where Ryu is that is something that could have worked if this was meant to be a serious film but it's not this is a film that isn't meant to be taken seriously and therefor having a scene like that whilst it might work well for the games it doesn't work well for the movie as the movie plays it a bit to serious for it's own good and you end up laughing at how serious the scene is being taken. With it also being true for when Ken finds out that Ryu killed there master six years ago again this is something that could have made for a really good scene in the movie if this was the kind of movie that was meant to be taken seriously but it's not this is meant to be the Fast & Furious of video game movies in that it's just meant to be this dumb action movie where the more over the top you go with the story and action the better and more fun the film is and this isn't to say that video games movies can't be serious films heck look that the last two Mortal Kombat films or even the animated Mortal Kombat films as key proof of that but it really is something when the terrible 1994 movie gets what this movie was always meant to be when this movie itself doesn't fully get that as there are scene with the characters cracking jokes and having a laugh with each other which are fun scenes to see but then the rest of the movie is them being super serious when being more dumb would have been the better option for the film to be in the long run.

Look to be frank here this film is going to have a hard time at the box office as the film right now has only made $4 million dollars. This is against a production budget of $82 million dollars whilst there is a chance that alot of the people not seeing this film aren't seeing because of the fact that they are against the Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures merger there is also a good chance that they are seeing one of the more bigger films either out the same day as this film or that came out a few weeks ago like for example The Social Reckoning among others which is a fair enough reason not to see this movie of course there's always the reason that people ate just waiting for this movie to come out on streaming as the ticket prices might be to high. Either way this week and going into next week this film is going to have an uphill battle to even make back it's modest production budget due to the fact that there are some big films coming out next week and with the bad word of mouth that this is films is already starting to attract it is something that does make the sequel that this films co-writer and director Kitao Sakurai has already started working on with even the film itself ending on a sequel hook with the heroes going to find M. Bison who disappears before they can kill him at the end of this film bottom line being here is that the odds of this film even making back its production budget is really low let alone making the over the $150 million dollars that it would need to make to even break even is something that is quite slim at best and when this is a film that very easily should have been making more money is something that does tell you just how bad that this film is but only time will indeed tell if the film does make back its production budget or not.

The films main villain M. Bison is oddly enough just as interesting as the main heroes are with Ryu , Ken and Chun-Li all wanting him dead. As Ryu and Ken want him dead to stop him from unleashing Akuma and Chun-Li wants him dead for the death of the father which are good motivations but the fact that M. Bison is doing this crime just so he can get Ken and Ryu to fight each other thus brining out both Akuma and Dark Ryu something which does end up happening is something that does make him a good villain as he does technically get what he wants as both Ken and Ryu do fight each other near the end of the film and Akuma does get unleashed and while the villains are able to defeat Akuma it doesn't change the fact that the villain did technically win in this film. With even the idea that he has ties to so many characters in the film like the fact that he took Blanca as a young kid and the fact that he did so many evil things to all of these characters all of whom believed in him because of the fact that he does charm you and he does use what you want against you these are things that do help him to be a really good villain and i'm not just saying this due to the that David Dastmalchian i'm saying it because its something that I do truly believe to be true as he does do alot of the things that a good villain should do and that's force the heroes to be better as our heroes do realise the direct approach is not going to work with him as he has to many people working for him and therefor they do have to craft and they do have to forced to work together as a team and as a unit and it's only when they do that that they they do come close to defeating him.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour ad forty eight minuets and forty eight seconds. Which to be fair to this film is a pretty solid running me for this film as there's not really alot to this film when the film has finished setting up it's plot , world and characters there's not really alot left for the film to do outside of just tell the films plot but even then it could be argued that the films flashback scenes are mostly filler as outside of the one where it's revealed that Ryu killed Gouken and stole Ken's original invitation to the first World Warrior Tournament due to him feeling resentment towards Ken but that is the only one as all of the others add nothing to either the films plot nor it's characters this is despite the fact that this fil really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. However tho this film still doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot as the film does have alot of fuller flashback scenes in it that whilst they do give us some really good looking animation to look at are all mostly things that could have been left out of the film and nothing of actual importance to the films plot would have been with the makers of this films putting more thought and effort into the films animated flashback scenes then they did in giving the plot some much needed plot development. The same thing is also true for the films characters as well as none of them get any kind of character development which is something that is OK for the games as then you could argue that they either got there development in earlier games or there going to get it later in the game however as this a film then the makers of this film should have given the films characters some kind of character development even if its something small an mynute with the makers of this film putting more thought and effort into using possible sound effects from the game then they did to giving any of the films characters some actual character development but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually take about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. To be frank here the films action is rightfully the best part of the film as we do get to see some really good looking fight scenes from alot of the films characters someone of which do invoke early Jackie Chan films in how they implement moments of comedy into them but other are just s cool that you can't help but be engrossed by them and want them to last just that little bit longer. With the best fight scene in the whole entire film being when our heroes do storm the building where M. Bison is and go on the offense as we see Ryu and Ken take out dosens of his guards on there own with the only downside to this being the fact that we don't get to see pro wrestler Cody Rhodes fight anyone as if there's anyone that should have an action scene in this movie but doesn't it's him with that action scene actually being really good as we do get to see just how good that this film really could have been as we get to see all of the characters using marital arts in some really fun and creative ways with Dan and Chun-Li getting involved in the action in there own way that is still fun to watch and while we don't get to see just how good of a fighter that she is in that scene there is a scene near the middle of the film where Chun-Li does take a few people on her own and wins, with the ending action being a really fun one to watch in its own right with the rest of the films action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall while this film does get certain things right that the 1994 film got wrong the 1994 film also gets certain things right that this film gets wrong alike for example even that film is yes a bad film it is still a film that is so bad its good it knows full well it's a dumb film where as this one is far two serious for its own good and this is something that really does hold the film back and stop it from being great in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
