Spider-Man: No Way Home Film Review

We are a little less then a week away before the release of the new live action Spider-Man film which does actually make Tom Holland the only Spider-Man actor to appear in more then three solo Spider-Man films. With the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today making for a really good tie in film due to where this film ends the characters and the fact that Marvel is usually really good when it comes to the continuity of there films and so then join me as I review the film that brought together three Spider-Men with the film in question being called simply just "Spider-Man: No Way Home" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a week after Far From Home Peter Parker's secret identity is exposed to the world with things being made worse when villains from other dimensions start showing up in his world. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. While this films plot can be seen as being nothing more then a poor attempt to give the fans alot of easter eggs it is something that does work as the films plot doesn't really need to be this deep and thought provoking plot as we have the first three Spider-Man films for that rather it just needs to be fun. With that being exactly what this films plot is it's fun and there's nothing wrong with that much like there's nothing wrong with being a dumb comic book movie and that's exactly what a plot like this one does allow the film to be and while yes it would have helped this film out quite alot if it did slow down and take itself more seriously it wasn't something that was needed as all we needed and all we wanted was for the films plot to be fun and that's exactly what we got with this film, with the thing that does hold the film back plot wise being the fact that it does drop the idea of everyone knowing who Peter Parker is pretty quickly when that is something that could have made for a great recurring plot element with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Zendaya as Michelle Jones-Watson. Also starring in this film is Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange , Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds , Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan , Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon / Electro , Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin , Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus , Benedict Wong as Wong , Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson , Marisa Tomei as May Parker , Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man , Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker / Spider-Man , Angourie Rice as Betty Brant , Arian Moayed as P. Cleary , Paula Newsome as The MIT Assistant Vice Chancellor , Hannibal Buress as Andre Wilson , Martin Starr as Roger Harrington , J.B. Smoove as Julius Dell , J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson , Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors / The Lizard , Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Thomas Haden Church as Flint Marko / The Sandman.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. To say that this films acting is good would be a huge understatement as the acting in this film really is fantastic and while the film was never going to win any awards for it's acting that doesn't mean that the performances in the film aren't top notch as they are with all of the films actors turning in some really good performances with this being something that make sense as alot of them are reprising their roles and would therefor no how best to perform there characters. With the best actor in the film by a large margin being Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man as he does deliver a true powerhouse performance in this film with the scene where Aunt May has just died in front of him being a really good example of this as we do see the hope that he has for his last living parental figure died and then we get the scene after that with the other two Peter's on the rooftop where he is broken essentially an they comfort him by saying that they know that he's going through because they've been through it themselves and in that scene you do see the hope and love that the this worlds version of Peter had for his Aunt May come back to live with this being something that does come through in his performance. With the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Digital Domain , Sony Pictures Imageworks , Framestore , Luma Pictures , Crafty Apes , Cinesite , Folks VFX , Mr. X , SSVFX , Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies , Secret Lab , Perception , Clear Angle Studios , Igene Xforia and Pix Entertainment. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The film is mostly CGI alot of the time and while you can't really tell it is something that makes you wonder why this film was done in live action if alot of things like the backgrounds and the characters were going to be replaced with CGI after the fact. Look don't get me wrong it's very impressive CGI which does hold up really well with this being something that does make alot of sense given the fact that this film does have alot of really good effects companies working on the film but at the same time if your going to replace alot of the live action stuff with CGI then why not go all the way and just make this film fully animated as it's ninety percent there anyway, with the film having alot of really good looking effects in it with Doc Ock's arms being a good example f this as while they were mostly puppets in Spider-Man 2 with slight CGI enhancements done to them here tho they are fully CGI and you really can't tell the difference as they do look like the puppet arms that they used in Spider-Man 2 and while it would have been nice if the makers of this film did use alot more practical effects then CGI effects as that would mean that the practical effects would age alot more better then CGI it doesn't hinder the fact that when this film gets it right with it's CGI it really does get it right.

One of the few things that people openly hated about Deadpool & Wolverine was the fact that it was just an excuse to have all of these cameos and easter eggs with a thin plot on top of it. Yet that's the exact same thing that this film was getting praised for when it came out therefor why is this film the one that got all of the praise when Deadpool & Wolverine did it slightly better it really doesn't make any sense as both fans gave the fans what they wanted and while yes Deadpool & Wolverine did get alot of praise for those cameos it was nothing compared to what this film was getting for doing the exact same thing and heck this film even dealt with the very thing that alot of people seem to hate that being the multiverse. With both films even having pretty thin plots the one place where this film does deserve more praise that Deadpool & Wolverine is the fact that this film did at least hold back on the amount of cameos that they had whereas with Deadpool & Wolverine it does feel like that they went overboard with the cameos even from non Marvel characters which fair enough might have been the joke in the first place but they did still need to show some level of restraint as really the only cameos that we get in this film are Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire as while we do also get Tom Hardy in the film he only appears in the post credits scene and that's really it that's two technically three people doing cameos for the film and yet with Deadpool & Wolverine we got countless cameos which granted where all in service of the films plot but still that is a little over crowded and yet they still work really well with this being something that alot of people just couldn't work out and therefor even tho this film lets be honest here a more held back version of Deadpool & Wolverine this film got alot of the praise that people were hating on Deadpool & Wolverine for also doing.

In what was a really good move on the parr of the film they killed of Aunt May effectively making her this worlds version of Uncle Ben. This was something that works for well in this film as the previous films that have had the character in it have all taken the time to show her as this loving and caring person who truly does love Peter with each film really building upon there relationship to the point where we do feel sad for Peter when she is killed of in this film as the other films did such a good job of making her be this one constant in Peter's normal life and now he doesn't have that with the scene where she does die being one of the most emotional scenes in any Spider-Man film as that scene is written so well and is treated like the big moment it is as her death is not only something that effects Peter but it also effects Spider-Man as now Peter is wanting nothing but revenge and while it doesn't consume him like it would the villains in the film the fact that he does come close to killed Green Goblin does show you just how far gone he almost was. With the fact that they gave her the "great power comes great responsibility" line being something that does hit home the fact that she is is this worlds version of Uncle Ben and while that line hasn't been better said since the first Spider-Man film back in 2002 how it is done here in this film does make sense as we have Peter talking about how he thought that it was his responsibility to give up on the villains and let them all die back on there own earths with May telling him that it's his responsibility to try and feel them first as Peter's great power is being able to see the good in everyone and that is a power that he does have responsibly.

Whilst the film does have alot of villains in it the two real main villains of Electro and Green Goblin as they are the ones that not only convince the other villains to first not trust Peter and his friends but to then also attack them. With them both having really the same end goal in mind that being to stay on this earth and do what they couldn't do on there own earths and that being to defeat Spider-Man and hopefully take over the world which granted is a really generic plan for a villain to have but given the fact that they list there respective fights to Spider-Man on there own earth it does somewhat make sense that they would try again only this time on a different earth and working together in the process but at the same time tho this films villains still aren't the smartest ones out there. Due to the fact that whilst they wouldn't have The Avengers on there own earth this one does and this is something that they could have seen on the news or heard on the radio ad yet they didn't do anything to change there plans they just kept it the same, to give this film some credit they did do Electro alot more better in this film then they did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as here he is a true bada*s with him being more then willing to take on more then ne Spider-Man all by himself with him even nearly killing the Peter from his own universe this is something that does prove that if you do Electro right then he could be a great villain as he does force Peter to have to think things threw alot more as Peter just can't go in and punch first and ask questions later as Electro is pure electricity therefore it would work but while Electro is done vastly better in the film the same thing cannot be said for Norman Osbourne as while he is still treated as a credible threat he doesn't do all that much for alot of the film with it being Electro that gets to do alot more stuff this time around and this is something that does stop Green Goblin from being as good of a villain as he really could have been.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty eight minuets and ten seconds. This is quite the long running time for this film with it being one of the longer Tom Holland Spider-Man films and while the film does need to be as long as it is you still could have told this films plot is about two hours as the film does have alot of pointless stuff in the film that could have been removed like alot of the stuff with Peter trying to heal the villains at Happy's home could have been cut down as could alot of the stuff with Peter and his friends talking about going to collage as none of that stuff goes on to play a major role in the films plot with the film having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. However tho this film still really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to develop it's plot as the film on paper does have a really good pot with even the fact that all of New York now knows who he is and yet the makers of the film do nothing with that which does make it feel like a waste of a good idea and all that does do is eat up screen time that could have been used to add things to the plot that make it feel more well developed with the makers of this film being more bothered about wasting a good idea of a plot line then they are in fully developing it's own plot. The same thing is also true for the films characters as while it could be argued that any of this films characters got there development in either the previous films or there own solo films they still did need to get some sort of character development in this film to help them feel more like real people and less like characters with the makers of this film being more bothered about really making Happy the but of the joke then they are about giving us character development but I really will admit that this film rally does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that we do have some really good action in this film isn't all that surprising as that has been the one constant in all of the big screen live Spider-Man films as they all seem to have alot of really good action in them with this film of course being of no exception to this rule as we do get to the MCU Peter in some creative fights with all of the villains from the other universes and even a really good action scene with Doctor Strange that has some really trippy and out there visuals to it. With the best action n the whole entire film of course being the third act fight at the statue of liberty as for the first time in decades we get to see the three live action Spider-Men all doing what they do best to help take down this bunch of villains with that being something that is always going to be fun to see as it will please people who grew up with the Toby Maguire films , the Andrew Garfield films and the Tom Holland films as all three of them are given the time that they need to get all of there stuff in and remind us all of why we liked them so much as this character in the first place, with the film making it a tense filled scene as all three Peters have to learn to work together whereas all of the villains already know how to do that this is a great way to give us tension as it does make it look like that the villains could win the fight with the rest of the films action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst Brand New Day does have alot of to live up to given just how good that this film is tis film is a really good film in it's own right and if they chose to stop making Spider-Man films in the     MCU after this film it really would have worked as this film really does feel like and ending in all of the best ways possible in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this vey review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
