Beauty And The Beast 2017 Film Review

Back in the nineties Disney's favorite thing to do was to produce cheaply made direct to DVD sequels to there biggest hit films. Well now there favorite thing to do is to remake some of there classic films into live action with sadly alot of them not only getting worse and worse reviews but also not doing all that well at box office and yet next year we have another pointless remake this time of Moana a film where the original film won't even be ten years old when the remake comes out and well I thought that i'd take a look at another pointless remake just to remind people of the fact that this film even existed in the first place and so then join me as I review the film that is a just and unoriginal version of the 1991 original film with the film in question being called simply just "Beauty And The Beast" enjoy.

The plot of this film is the first thing that's wrong with this film as it's the exact same plot as the original film with nothing new added to it. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this  very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as even tho this films plot is the exact same plot of the original film this film handles that exact same story really poorly by not understanding what it was that made the plot of the original film work as well as it did in the first as what made it work was in the smaller character moments between Belle and The Beast with alot of those moments either being cut down to the point where they might as well as not even be there in the first place or the film just rushes past them with the makers of this film expecting us to feel the way that we felt when watching hem in the original film when it doesn't work like that as you still need to create a good plot to get us invested and that doesn't mean having to copy the original film either as you can tell a new story with these characters and have it work in a live action setting take for example the live action remake of Alice In Wonderland which told an original story but still had those characters from the original film in it with the story still working because of the fact that it was a good story and yet here in this film the makers of the film just seemed not to care about giving us a good plot and was instead more focused on giving us a watered down version of the original films plot with the plot of this film also being not really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Emma Watson as Belle , Dan Stevens as The Beast , Luke Evans as Gaston and Kevin Kline as Maurice. Also starring in this film is Josh Gad as LeFou , Ewan McGregor as Lumière , Stanley Tucci as Cadenza , Audra McDonald as Madame de Garderobe , Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette , Hattie Morahan as Agathe , Rita Davies as The Old Woman , Nathan Mack as Chip , Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Dame Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As to be fair to this film one of the things that it does get right is it's acting as alot of this films actors not only have turned in good performances in other films before now but also do so in this film as well with the likes of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens being a pair of very good examples of just how good that this films acting could be and while Emma's acting is a bit wooden in certain scenes she is alot more better in other scenes as well with the films best actor not being either of them but is rather instead both Luke Evens and Josh Gad as you can tell right away that they know full well that there starring in a bad film and are just trying to have fun with their roles by eating as much of the scenery as is humanly possible whereas with Emma whilst you do get the feeling that she knows that she's in a bad film it does also come across as her phoning in a performance alot of the time instead of just having fun with the role with both Luke and Josh even having alot of the films best scenes as that's just how good that they are in this film with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Digital Domain , BOT VFX , Framestore , Lola Visual Effects , Method Studios and Beaver House Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as while some of the character designs look really creepy the effects themselves do look really good with this being something that's not really all that surprising given the fact that the film has alot of really good effects companies working on it but in saying this tho the characters designs for characters like Mrs. Potts for example are really creepy as it's just a human face on a live action tea pot and while Cogsworth looks decent Lumière looks horrid with the character lacking any of the charm that the original design had with the best looking effect in the film being The Beast and even he is lacking that extra something that the original design had but for every good effect that the film has as all of the servants do look really good despite alot of them having really creepy designs to them there are some shots of Belle's Village that look a little bit to fake with the same thing being true for the alot of the CGI shots of the castle as well with it feeling like they either ran out of time or didn't have enough money to finish those effects of in time with this being something that does lower the films overall quality of the effects in the film as there is alot of talent working on this film from an effects point of view.

There's no way to talk about this film and not talk about it's romance as that's the whole reason to go to see the film in the first place. Well to be frank the romance in the 1991 film was handled alot more better as while the film was a lot more shorter it did allow for those character moments between Belle and Beast that allowed us to see them growing closer together with that being something that was cut from this film for no reason and while both Emma and Dan have solid chemistry together which does make it easier to buy into them as a potential couple there sill needs to be time dedicated to seeing them bond together outside of one or two scenes take the original film for example where after just yelling at Belle to join him for dinner we see that Beast does feel about it with it being made that he is trying to get her to fall in love with him and yet that scene is gone from this film with the makers of this film not even trying to create anything that matches or even surpasses the romantic tone and nature  that came naturally to the original film this is despite the fact that the titular "Beauty And The Beast" song was handled as well as it could have been in live action but even that song which is a very romantic song in it's own right can't make the film romantic as the original film spent alot of time in developing there relationship to the point where seeing them dance together felt like the next natural step in their relationship where as here it felt like that it was only included because of the fact that it was in the original film as the makers of the film just feel like that there on autopilot alot of the time and didn't really want to create something magical and long lasting where as the makers of the original film had to create something good as Disney still wasn't in a good place back then.

Whilst this film does rather rightfully get alot of hate for straight up copying what the original film that doesn't mean that there aren't some thins that are exclusive to this film. With the film going more into Belle's backstory which is something that is pointless but can be seen as being heartbreaking as we find out that her mother died from the bubonic plague something which her father never told her and while that doesn't come into play at all all throughout the film it was a nice little addition with perhaps the biggest add on to the story that actually worked was seeing all of the servants actually turn into there household object form permanently with that being something that is utterly heartbreaking to see regardless of if you've seen the original film or not especially when it comes to Mrs. Potts frantically trying to find Chip after the battle and there all turning into object form with him only to appear mere seconds after she's turned into a tea pot with the coat stand picking up a now fully tea cup chip and placing him right next to his mother with this being a good example of the film adding in something new that actually works as this was something that we never saw before in the original film and therefor the makers of this film had to go out of there way to make sure that we felt something when it happened and while it was a really quick scene it was also a really effective scene and is also the only scene in the whole film which will have people getting misty eyed watching it as it's just that good of a scene and is something that does show us that the makers of this film do know how to create some generally moving stuff which does make it all the more odd that the rest of the film is lacking any real emotion this is despite the fact that this should have been the most emotional film out there.

It could be argued that this film does technically have two villains as there is the more obvious villain in Gaston but the film for whatever reason also makes the villagers out to be villains as well. With them openly joining Gaston in his crusade against The Beast and with them acting antagonistic towards Belle during the early parts of the film and granted it could also be argued that the Villagers where also antagonistic towards Belle in the original film in it's early parts as well but the villagers in that film never ever destroyed something that Belle made they just let her get on with her life with them only acting antagonistic towards the end of the film when Gaston once again got them to join him in his quest to kill the beast and peaking of Gaston the original version of him oddly feels more evil then what this films version of him does as here he feels like a kid who hasn't been told no being told it for the first time in his life where as in the original film he was this cold and calculated villain who only went to these extremes after Belle had embarrassed him earlier on in the film now that doesn't excuse his actions at all but you do have to understand where he's coming from with this version of the character not being that well thought out as a character with it feeling like he was being evil because of the fact that he was evil in the original film with this film missing the whole point of his character as he was meant to be the answer on who was truly evil man or the thing that we are all told are evil where as here none of what made Gaston such a great villain in the first place comes through in this film and heck the film even cuts out his banter with LeFou during "Belle" where he gets across the fact that he's arrogant person.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and nine minuets and sixteen seconds. With this film being more then thirty minuets LONGER then the 1991 original film which is odd as this film adds quite literally nothing to the films plot that fully justifies the film being that long in the first place this is despite the fact that this film really does have more then enough plot there to fully cover that amount of plot in the first place however with this being said the film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot as while the film does focus on it's plot it doesn't take the time to develop it's plot all the development that we get from the film only happens because of the fact that it was in the original film and that's really it with this version of the film not giving us to care for the film as it's more focused on giving us watered down versions of scenes from the original film then it is in giving us a fully developed plot with this even effecting the films characters as none of the films characters with belle being the worst example of this as in the original film she was a strong and competent character who only wanted to do the right thing no matter how much it hurt her and yet here in this film they also make her a character that's also an inventor and is all of these things and yet they all end up doing more harm to her as a character as they rob her of any likability with both her and all of this films characters getting nothing in the way of character development which makes all of this films characters very one dimensional characters whereas in the original film all of the characters were really well thought out but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a musical that really does mean tat I have to actually talk about the actual songs that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual songs that re actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's not really all that surprising as not only is this film using all of the original songs from the original film with them being written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman but they also used songs written by Tim Rice with Alan Menken even coming back to compose the new songs as well with the original songs being very well but in saying that tho songs like "Belle" and even "Beauty And The Beast" are let down by the visuals in this film as in the original version of Belle there's a lyric about Belle always having her nose stuck in a book with the visuals showing that to be true and yet in this film despite them keeping the same lyric she's not reading the book with the thing that lets "Beauty And The Beast" down being the fact that the visuals aren't as romantic and aren't as magical as they were in the original film this is despite the fact that out of the original songs "Beauty And The Beast" is the one that's the best sung as "Belle" really is let down so badly by both the timing and the fact that they used alot of autotune on Emma Watson with the best new song being "Evermore" as it does show us the heartbreak that breaking up with Belle has on The Beast with "Days In The Sun" also being a pretty decent song as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst there's no doubt that Moana 2026 will be a bad film as the teaser made it look like it's just going to be carbon copy of the original film it at least might not be as bad as what this film was as this film really did suck out all of the joy and romanticism out of what is a very romantic story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys an girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
