The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie Film Review

We are about a week away from the release of Coyote Vs. Acme a film that Warner Bros really didn't want you to see as there more happy with burying the Looney Tunes. How do we know this because they tried to do the exact same thing to the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and yet this film got tons of great reviews when it first came out and while granted it didn't make alot of the box office those that saw loved it with Ketchup Entertainment being the ones that released this film and are releasing Coyote Vs. Acme and so then join me as I review the film that isn't the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie with the film in question being called simply just "The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are forced to get jobs when they can't afford to pay to fix there home the duo along with new friend Petunia have to save the world. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. This films was quite frankly alot more better then what it really had any right to be with the films plot spoofing cheap science fiction films of the fifties with the plot of the film really ticking alot of those tropes that would be found in those films and putting a fun looney twist on them. Whilst yes granted this films plot could have been alot more better as it would have been nice if the plot was a little bit more stronger and did lean more into the science fiction aspect as that is something that you could do with those characters it's hard to deny the fact that this films does have a really good plot to it with there being alot of thought and effort going into the films plot with it being obvious that unlike with Space Jam 2 the makers of this film did care not only about the characters but about the Looney Tunes brand enough to give them a plot that does feel looney enough to be a plot of a Looney Tunes movie but is also epic enough to believably be the plot of a movie in it's own right when it would have been very easy for this films plot to be straight up trash with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Eric Bauza as Daffy Duck and Porky Pig , Candi Milo as Petunia Pig and An Old Lady. Also starring in this film is Peter MacNicol as The Invader , Fred Tatasciore as Farmer Jim and The Scientist , Laraine Newman as Mrs. Grecht , Wayne Knight as The Mayor Of Grandview , Ruth Clampett as Waitress Maude , Andrew Kishino as The Floor Manager , Kimberly Brooks as The Spaceship Computer and The Coffee Shop Customer , Keith Ferguson as Chewy , Carlos Alazraqui as A News Anchor and Gary , Rachel Butera as The Town Kid , this films director and co-writer Peter Browngardt as Roofer Joe and The Bully and Nick Simotas as as The Theater Audience Guy and A Flavor Scientist.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that this film does have some really good acting in it is something that really isn't all that surprising as not only do we have some Looney Tunes veterans in both Eric Bauza and Candi Milo but we also have a bunch of really funny actors in there own right all of whom do more then what is expected of them for a film that was never going to get a theatrical release when it first started production and yet all of this films actors really do hit it out of the park. With the best actor in this film being Eric Bauza as Daffy Duck and Porky Pig with him effectively carrying this whole film on his back due to the fact that alot of the key scenes in this film are just with Porky and Daffy and like what Mel Blanc had to do alot of the time he does voice them both in the same scene weather or not the characters voices were recorded at the time is another question all together but the fact that he is able to carry whole scenes just by talking to himself is a testament to how good he is in this film and while his Porky Pig voice does need a little tweaking as he is essentially sharing the role with Bob Bergen he does have alot of charm and charisma that does shine through in his performance in this film. With the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is Dinamita Animación , RatBat Studios , Snipple Animation Studios , Tomavision and Tonic DNA. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the films animation much like Looney Tunes Cartoons taking inspiration for it's look from the classic Looney Tunes cartoons of the forties with the film barring a few shots being 2D handrawn with 2D animation looking really good and proving that when every animated film these days is 3D CGI animated sometimes going back to way that things used to be is the best way to move things forward. As you don't the level of fluidity in CGI animation that we get here in this film as the animators have to actually animate something and get the amount of fluid animation looking just right and whilst there is some CGI used in the film like for example when Farmer Jim turns out it blends in really well with the rest of the animation that you don't notice with the animation on the whole having a very nineteen forties feel to it as we do have these highly detailed backgrounds and very pleasant looking character designs for the main characters and heck even the opening scene with The Scientist looking at his telescope looks so much like the forties that it reminded me of the very first Superman cartoon from that same time period with the animation on the whole being something that not just any Looney Tunes fan would love but what any self respecting animation fan would adore to see.

This film did help to bring Petunia Pig back into the limelight as for alot of her career she was mostly just either a cameo character or a background character in alot of the latter Porky Pig cartoons even tho she is meant to be his main love interest. Yet here she is essentially taking a co-starring role in a feature length film and while her cartoon in Looney Tunes Cartoons also saw her taking her first and to date only solo starring role in a Looney Tunes short here it is all the more important due to the fact that this film did get seen by alot more people with the makers of this film even having alot of fun with her character as while she is still very much just Porky's lover interest she is also looney in her way due to the fact that she is flavor taste specialist at the the gum factory where the duo work and is working to find the best flavor ever. With her trying weird things like coffee and sponges t find the best flavor which yes fair enough isn't much but it's better then what she had been doing for the best several decades which is just be a female Porky Pig which basically made her the Looney Tunes version of Minnie Mouse only here the maker of this film sought to add something to her character where as Minnie is going to always remain the female Mickey Mouse, with even the gadgets that she makes being used in several parts of the film to help fight of an alien invasion and while she does still have a romance with Porky it is something that is done in a cute way here with them both having the same stutter and stuttering at the same time over the same words alot of the time and it is something that that does help to make her a cute character and not just a Porky Pig clone that is just there to get the female audience to watch this film like she very easily could have been as here she does have a legit reason for being with this duo and a reason for wanting to help them out.

In what was an unexpected move this film does focus alot on the relationship between Porky and Daffy with them not being quite brothers but raised as they were brothers. With Porky being the one that takes everything super seriously and Daffy being the more looney one of the two more often then not messing things up for the pair of them which is something that would be a great twist where it not for the fact that every single Porky Pig and Daffy cartoon in Looney Tunes cartoons had that exact same set up and while that is something that does work it would have worked just as well if we got to see the more selfish side of Daffy as one of the early cartoons the duo appeared in did have Daffy trying to get Porky to quite being a Warner Bros character while Daffy tried to take his spot within the company and that kind of set up is something that could have worked well for this film. As you still could have had Porky be the one that takes things very seriously but then you could have had Daffy come in to try and mess it up on purpose to make Porky look bad with this being why Porky gets mad it him in this film as here while you can see where Porky is coming from when he does blow up at Daffy it still does come out of nowhere with it feeling like the makers of this film where looking for a way to create some drama between the duo but didn't want to change there version of Daffy or the one that they might have been told to use by Warner Bros which does mean that we do end up with a forced dramatic scene between the two of them which granted does still work but it would have worked all the more better if there was more of a build up to it rather then just having Porky blow up at hm like maybe you could have shown us Porky getting more and more upset only for it be to blown off just something would have done to make that big fight between the two all the more better.

Whilst this is a comedy film it does have a slight action element to it as well with the film having some pretty fun action scenes. With the film really taking as full advantage of the fact that it's an animated film by having the characters do these things that they wouldn't be able to do without the use of animation like having Porky and Petunia burst through the flames of a petrol station on what is possibly there bike all the while a bunch of the gum that they've just forced the people to throw up is being destroyed which is a really sequence but it's also one that you couldn't do in live action without having some form of animation done to it and the film is filled with the scenes like this which make it clear that the makers of this film aren't hiding from the fact that there making an animated film but are rather using the field of animation to there advantage. For a Looney Tunes movie there are only three Looney Tues characters in the whole film with this film even being the first Looney Tues film NOT to feature Bugs Bunny as the character along with several others are not only not mentioned in this film but aren't seen with the film having to solely relay on what little star power Porky Pig has and the star power of Daffy Duck to get people to see this movie and that is something that does works as if the film did feature other Looney Tunes characters then the film would become overstuffed with characters and would make the central trio feel less important as we'd just be waiting for someone like say Tweety or Pepe Le Pew to turn up but by focusing just of Daffy , Petunia and Porky it does mean that the film has to spend time on getting new possible fans to like the characters as much as the older fans already do in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty one minuets and five seconds. Which for any film is a decent amount of running time to have with this film really needing that amount of time to tell its story as the film does have alot of plot to set up as it has to set up with the main plot of the film is and what Porky and Daffy are trying to get done as well as what Petunia wants in the film and it wouldn't be able to do all of that in a shorter amount of time and heck this film could have truly benefitted from being about five minuets longer as the film has such a fun plot to begin that to see it be given more time to breathe would only serve to help the film film out in the longer run with this film having more then enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. With the film even using it's running time as wisely as it was ever going to as while the films plot isn't as well developed as it could have been it is still a well developed plot as there are alot of scenes early on in the film that do add things to the films plot and while somethings could have been handled better like the reveal that The Invader is actually trying to save the earth and not destroy it there is alot of thought and effort put into giving us a well thought and well developed plot when there really didn't need to be. The same thing is also true for alot of the films characters as well as both Porky and Daffy do end up growing as characters with Porky learning to trust Daffy and Daffy learning that you can be both serious and looney as you don't need to be one or the other with the only real character that doesn't get any character development being Petunia but given that she had to no character prior to this film she does still get let off as they did make her a fun and funny character in the film but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk abut the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally tought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With alot oft is films jokes being laugh out loud funny due to the fact that they do have this feel of being like the classic Looney Tunes gags with them being animate not quite to perfection but well enough so that we find them funny with the makers of this film giving alot of gags oddly enough to Petunia with Porky and Daffy getting some as well and while it does make sense to give Petunia some jokes as to alot of people she is a new character it's Porky and Daffy that people are coming to this film to see. With the best joke in the whole entire being the entire flashback at the start of the film with Porky and Daffy as babies as we get to see father Jim who is animated like a painting only with 2D animated eyes which is just comedy gold right there raise these two characters up with even the fact that Father Jim walks like a South Park character that is such a clever joke that not alot of people will pick up on but once you see it it is something that is funny with Father Jim in that sequence getting alot of the laughs due to his over the top and subtle reactions to things that Porky and Daffy are doing with it even being revealed in this film that t was due to Porky getting hit on the head by Daffy that he has a stutter which again is a funny little thing to include in the film with the the rest of the films jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst we don't have long to wait to see if Coyote Vs, Acme will be good or not then one thing that we can say for sure is that it will have a tough time following this film as this film just gets that classic Looney Tunes style and really doesn't try to update that style as it doesn't need to be updated as it's timeless whilst it is of course really far to early to say in this film will be time less or not what can be said is that it is a looney film in all of the best ways possible in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review ell then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Blogger , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
