The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Film Review

When people think of live action Spider-Man movies there's always one American film that people do seem to forget. Which granted is for a good reason as the film was more focused in setting up things for films that ultimately never happened and was largely forgotten about until Spider-Man: No Way Home came out but it is still a fil that did feature a pretty cool death and it's that very film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the film that killed of Gwen Stacey with the film in question being called simply just "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Peter and Gwen graduate High School and gave to deal with life out in the real world life which is threatened when both Peter's child hood friend Harry turns back up and a new villain calling himself Electro rises. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK at best. The fact that this films plot is abut as average as it is is something that was to expected due to the fact that h4rse Amazing Spider-Man films never really had the best of plots to them in the first place this is despite the fact that hey were trying to create stories and characters that were more true to the Spider-Man comic books. Yet despite this this films plot does feel very bland and generic with there being nothing that helps to make the films plot be all the more interesting then what it actually is yes you can see that there is an attempt to make the films plot better by having more of a focus on Peter's parents which is fair enough but the main body of the film doesn't focus on them and instead focuses on a half baked plot with the films plot being as half baked as it is due to the fact that the films spends more time on the relationship between Peter and Gwen which granted was something that the first film did as well and that film did get alot of hate for doing it therefor it is weird that the follow up film would make the exact same mistake as movie goers don't care about who is hooking up with who but what they do care about is having a more well thought out plot and that's something that this films plot just isn't with it feeling more like an after thought to the Peter and Gwen relationship with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining and as well as not really being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man , Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. Also starring in this film is Campbell Scott as Richard Parker , Colm Feore as Donald Menken , Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich / The Rhino , Felicity Jones as Felicia Hardy , Sally Field as May Parker , Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn , Denis Leary as George Stacy and Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon / Electro.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty good. To be frank this films acting is about aa good as it was ever going to be given the fact that the acting in the first film wasn't much better however to this films credit you can see both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone really giving there all in this film with the pair of them even having some really good chemistry together with the thing that lets them down is the fact that this films director Marc Webb doesn't seem to be giving them any direction with them feeling lost alot of the time which is also true for all of this films actors. With the best actor in this film being Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man as you really can tell from the first film to this one that he has grown as an actor with him really being alot more at ease and confident in the role of both Peter Parker and Spider-Man and while the makers of these films have written Peter Parker like he's already Spider-Man Andrew is just a joy to watch as you can tell right from the first frame of the film that he is having a blast playing this character and you really can tell that this character is one tat does mean alot to him with that kind of passion and love for the character really shining through in his performance. With the thing that lets the acting in this films down is the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , Imageworks India , Moving Picture Company , Blur Studio , Pixel Playground , Shade VFX and Nerve Effects Inc.. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty good. While yes these films have always been and will always be very effects heavy films here in this film tho it does look like that they took it a bit to far by having alot of effects in scenes that didn't really need them with them even using CGI to creature a pillar in the hidden railroad station that Peter finds which was just needed. This does have the effect of making this film look more like a cartoon then it does a live action film and while yes this film does have alot of really good effects in the film with the films big budget being more then shown on screen that doesn't mean that you have to use CGI to create alot of the things in the film as all that does is cause the film to date quicker, however to he fair tho when the films effects are as a good as they are alot of the time you do of course want to show off all of the good effects that you possibly could do and this is something that the film does do alot of the time as the film does have some good looking effects like Spider-Man swinging through the city looks good as does The Rhino effect whilst the design for the character is lacking the effect on the whole does look pretty good. This film tho just seems to be content with having things that are just OK as even this films best looking effects are still just OK effects with it being obvious that while the film did have a big budget the effects teams might not have had a lot of time to get the effects up to a high standard.

What might be the biggest thing to come out of these Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films is the fact that they did the "Death Of Gwen Stacey" scene from the comic books. Whilst they didn't outright copy how she died as she doesn't die from her neck snapping when Spider-Man tries to save her here she does die in a similar way as when Spider-Man does try to save her she hits her head on the concrete which is still a pretty shocking death even if they do sign post it by having her wear the exact same clothes that she does in the comics and while her death in the comics might work on a more emotional level due to the fact that it wasn't sign posted that this was going to happen it just happened. Here it doesn't perhaps as well as the makers of this film had intended it to work as while it's not a bad death persay but it would have worked alot more better if the makers of this film had not had her appear all that much in the third act or if she does appear she's helping civilians with her death being some thing that no one could have stopped as you could have had Peter and Harry fighting while Gwen is trying to get people to safety and have it be so that whatever goes well for Peter in the fight effects Gwen in a negative way leading up to the part where due to no fault of there own both Peter and Harry causes Gwen to fall with Peter being the only one to try and save her. This is something that would work alot more better as it would show Peter the true consequences of his action as he would see that Gwen was there with him all along and it would show him that he can't be a hero and be in love with someone due to the fact that his enemies will always try to get to him through them with that being a tough lesson that every superhero does have to learn at some point.

Look to be frank here one of this films many issues is the same one that plagued Spider-Man 3 in that this film does have both to many villains and to many subplots going on it. So much so that that the film does become a confusing mess of a film alot of the time as we not only have Electro but we also have Harry and his quest to rid of himself of an illness that is claiming the life of his father and we have The Rhino who is there for literally no reason other then to set up a possible appearance in the Sinister Six movie which never happend. There really was no need for this film to have this many villains as the film could have survived with just having the one main villain and while yes Rhino is pretty much a glorified cameo in this film he still didn't need to be in the film as he adds nothing to it and heck his part in the film of being the comic relief villain could have been taken up by one of Spider-Mans more campy foes and the result would still be the same and heck the film does also have alot of stories to follow as we have the main plot , we also have a plot with Electro trying to liked by the public at the start of the film , then there's Harry's plot and lastly there's Peter and Gwen's plot about them trying to get there relationship back on track and it's all something that really wasn't needed as it does make the film feel cluttered with this film and Spider-Man 3 for that matter being a very good example of less equals more as they could have gotten rid of several of those plot lines and gave more focus to the films main plot as that's the only one that doesn't feel like it's getting any attention in this film as it's fighting for screen time with several other plots and characters, with even Harry not being the best villain in this film as he doesn't get to do all that much and with the film changing his main motivation for being evil that being the fact that he blames Spider-Man for the death of his father Harry now becomes evil for no reason and is less of an interesting character because of it.

Electro on the other hand isn't the best villains either but there was still an attempt to make us feel anything for this character. As the films version of the character is one that's presented as someone who feels invisible with him possibly not having any friends and therefor when Spider-Man does save him at the start of the film and he does take the time to talk to him Max does feel a bond if you will between the two of them with this being something that does make his fatal fall in the electric eels not only more sad but also more upsetting as this is is a character that doesn't want to do evil things he's just trying to get by to the end of the week and collect a pay check and that's it and yet the world does constantly both turn on and put him down. Yet when he does become Electro he oddly becomes less interesting as a character as he then becomes the stereotypical villain who wants to do these bad things and yet Max at heart isn't a bad person he's not a misguided person he's gullible as Harry does easily manipulate him into working for him, with this being Electro's live action debut there was a alot of thought and effort put into his backstory but that much was put into his character design as he just looks like a giant Smurf which does make him less intimidating as a character even more so when you take into account that he's grand scheme for the film to to deplete all of the New York's electrical supply all because of the fact that he believes someone that he was thought was his friend in Spider-Man had told someone to shoot at him this is a character very easily could have worked as the main villain of a Spider-Man film as he does have a really cool comic book and TV design that would have worked in the films with the only thing that the character really needed was a good script behind him and that's it.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hour and twenty one minuets and thirty four seconds. Which yeah is a bit of long time to be sitting through one of these Amazing Spider-Man films as alot of the film just focuses more on not revealing anything about Peter's backstory with his parents and in giving us alot of villains both of which are thing that do make this film feel a bit more over stuffed then what it should have done as this film very easily could have told its story with just one villain and have alot less focus on Peters parents backstory with this film having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. This film also doesn't use it's running time all that wisely either due to the fac that it doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot with the film barely even focusing in its main plot alot of the time so much so that it was hard to work out just what the main plot of the film of the film and yet if the film did take the time to not only give its main plot some love and attention but also add thigs to it that help to make it feel more thought out then it would have helped this film be alot more fondly remembered however tho as the makers of this film were clearly more focused on Peter and Gwen's relationship then quite literally anything else in the film it does mean that this films main plot does suffer. This is also something that's true for the films character development as while bother Peter and Gwen didn't really need any kind of character development due to them being in the first film both Max and Harry did and neither of them got it as the makers of this films clearly couldn't be bothered to do give them any and heck the same thing is true for Peter and Gwen as even tho they were the main characters of the previous film we still don't know all that much about them coming out of this film but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. This films action s quite possibly the best thing about the film outside of maybe Gwen's death scene and Andrew and Emma's acting as this films action is quite honestly really fun to see and is everything that you want to see in a Spider-Man film with it being clear as day that the makers of this film really did know how to make some good looking action as it's in this films action scene that the film feels more like a Spider-Man film. With the best action scene in the hole entire film being the scene a super charged Electro fights Spider-Man at the local power grid as we get to see both characters use there powers which is something that will always be cool as well see them try to outwit each other which is really fun to see with the films music and sound design really helping to make the scene feel all the more exciting as we get this great score by Hans Zimmer playing while Electro is hitting Spider-Man with these blasts and electricity that is causing the things in the power grid to play other songs with these being something that does help to make this scene be all the more cooler then what it should have been as by all rights this action scene should have have been as cool as it is but due to the fact that the makers of this film did go the extra mile into making good we ended up with a really fun action scene with the rest of the films action being just as god as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst No Way Home is easily the better send ff film for this version of Spider-Man this film does have a few things going for it but sadly all of those things like the action and the action are overshadowed by the things that bring it down like a good script with this film crumbling under it's own weight in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Blogger , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
