The Inbetweeners Movie Film Review

It is really hard to adapt something that was meant to be seen in a twenty two minuet format and make it seem worthy enough of being on the big screen. With this being something that alot of TV show adaptations do indeed fail at doing and yet that is sadly not the case with the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today as this film actually took what was already perfected in the show and just put it on the big screen and that's it and so then join me as I review the film that saw one of modern Britains most popular TV comedies head to the big screen with the film called simply just "The Inbetweeners Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Will , Simon , Jay and Neil head to Malia after finally finishing high school where they hope to finally get girlfriends. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The thing that does make this films plot really well is the fact that it is something that alot of teenage boys could relate to as it's essentially the boys going on their first holiday without there parents and all of the misadventures that they get up to and that is something that alot of teenage boys did go through with it being seen kind of like a right of passage for some of them and to this films credit it does handle that part of the plot really well. Where the films plot does sort of start of start to faulter is in the fact that it does follow the typical sitcom to movie route by having the characters start of the film in there more familiar locations with there familiar cast of side characters before then moving the main characters abroad which is good enough reason to do the movie in the first place but at the same time it is kind of played out idea but given tat this show and this film is based around tings that actually did happen to not only the creators of the show but also the films writers and executive producers it is something that does make sense with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Simon Bird as Will McKenzie , James Buckley as Jay Cartwright and Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland. Also starring in this film is Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper , Emily Head as Carli D'Amato , Laura Haddock as Alison , Tamla Kari as Lucy , Jessica Knappett as Lisa , Lydia Rose Bewley as Jane , Theo James as James , Theo Barklem-Biggs as Richard , Anthony Head as Mr McKenzie , Belinda Stewart-Wilson as Polly McKenzie , Martin Trenaman as Alan Cooper , Robin Weaver as Pamela Cooper , David Schaal as Terry Cartwright , Victoria Willing as Mrs Cartwright , Alex Macqueen as Kevin Sutherland , Greg Davies as Mr Gilbert , Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Mark Donovan and Lauren O'Rourke as Nicole.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. This is something that was to be expected as alot of this films actors are reprising their roles from the show and therefor they would of course know how best to perform as those characters in any given scene as they would have had three years of expirence playing them in the hugely popular TV series and to be fair that kind of expirence is something that does pay off as those returning actors especially for the four man boys does help to show you the fact that they do have great chemistry together as you do believe all four of them as being friends. Heck even the acting from the films guest characters is also really good which is something that is really shocking as apart from Anthony Head and maybe Theo James none of this films guest actors are that well known and yet they all do hold there own when it comes acting against the series main actors and heck Anthony Head is the most well known actor in the entire film and yet you wouldn't know it just from how good the rest of the acting is in this film. With the best actor in the whole entire film being James Buckley as he does get more of the films more emotional scenes along with Joe Thomas which do show of his range as an actor as we know that he can make us laugh and while he can't quite make us cry he does get close to doing exactly that with the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

This films writers and executive producers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris do have a knack for creating some good characters and it is something that they do again in this film. While all of the series main character are of course all written to be in character and are all really well done it's the films guest characters that I want to talk about as they don't get discussed at all with perhaps the best of the films new characters being the boys respective love interests Alison , Jane , Lucy and Lisa as all of whom have personalities that are the exact opposite of the boys and because of that they do all work just as well. With Jane being bright and bubbly and is always up for a laugh , Alison being the more normal one of the group , Lucy being the practical of the group and Lisa despite her being pretty Neil but in female form is also slightly more smarter then what he is all of these personalities are ones that you'd think would clash with the personalities of the boys and yet because of who the girls get paired up with it is something that does oddly compliment there respective partner. With the character of Mr McKenzie even tho he is technically a hold over from the show as they do mention him alot in the show this is the first time that we actually get to see him with him being the exact opposite of Will even to the point where he does kind of act like a bully to Will which is hilarious to see as his dad isn't quite the typical father but he is king of like a character that is smarter then everyone else and he knows it only in this case he is someone who does act like a bully towards Will due to the fact that he wasn't invited to his wedding and his father does mock him when he says that he has holiday plans.

Whilst this film did indeed get a sequel film which totally ruined the character of Lucy this film is pretty much the final episode of the show. Due to the fact that it does see all of the shows main characters leaving high school and getting the one thing that they've spent the entire show trying to get that being girlfriends with this being the perfect send of for these characters and even tho the film doesn't really spend that much time with them at home before they go on holiday the die hard fans of the show do still get alot of the things that they know and love from the show which is something that does make it seem like that the movie was made for them. However tho you don't have to seen alot of the show in order to understand the movie as these characters are normal everyday people that don't have these deep complicated feelings towards each other and with the plot of the show being very episodic in nature it does mean that you can watch one maybe two episodes of the show and then jump into this film and still get alot of the jokes in the film would it be nice if you did watch all of the episodes of the show before watching this film film yes of course it would but this is a case where it's not really necessary due to the fact that the film doesn't spend that much time in the main location of the show and only references the show once at the start of the film and that's really it. Sadly tho with this film getting a sequel it does now mean that the perfect ending for this film is now ruined as the boys except for Simon and possibly Neil start the second film without girlfriends which makes this films ending where they are all finally happy in love now be pointless with that film now serving as the shows official finale.

This film does sort of have villain character in James which is fair enough as we do see him acting like a real villain to Simon and Jay. With him straight up threatening to kill Jay at one point and stealing all of Simon's clothes for no other reason that its funny to him and while he doesn't have an end goal in mind this is something that does work really well for this character as this is a character that wouldn't have an end goal in mind due to the fact that he would have spent a good part of his life being told that he is cool and that what he's doing is funny and while they may be funny to him for every one else with a decent grip on what's right and wrong there just not funny. Heck it could be more then argued that the boys have traded in one bully with Donovan and replaced him with James with the only difference being with Donovan he wouldn't bully hem in front of there parents as he would be to bust kissing up to the parents to get them to trust him where as now the parents are removed and James is someone who would go full throttle the second that you make him angry just once for one simple second with him even bragging about hooking up with the girl that Simon loves the most at the start of this film. Which OK fair enough he didn't know that and was therefor more then likely showing off to his friends but that doesn't excuse the fact that he threatens to kill Jay or that he steals all of Simons clothes including the underwear that he's wearing as that is something that a truly mental person would do and while they both do get there revenge on him in there way he is still a character that was perhaps there most evil bully due to the fact that he could do all of these things to them and not even think twice about it if he had the chance to.

The reason why Jay and Simon are being brought up alot in this review is the fact that even tho this film is an ensemble film they are the two main characters of the film. With Will and Neil pretty much being supporting characters in the film which is fair enough as the show would more often then not have one or two of the boys be the main characters of an episode while the other two are in the episodes B plot yet here tho there is no B plot therefor it was pointless to follow that format as you could have had all four boys be the main character and nothing about the films main plot would need to be changed as you could still have Simon find out how cruel I guess you could say that Carli is as she does lead him alot of the time and have the rest of the film play out as it is with nothing being changed. Speaking of Carli even tho in the show we only see the side of her that was kind and generous due to the fact that we were seeing her threw the eyes of Simon with her only really showing her true side whenever she was mad at him as even tho she does say in the show that she loves him it's clear that she doesn't and is only doing it to make other boys jealous. With this being something that we finally see her be like in the film with it being made clear that even so Simon will always hold a special place in his heart for her she would have forgotten all about him by the very next morning and will instead be focused on getting herself a another boyfriend with this being something that does allow Simon to finally move on from her and start dating someone that actually likes him in the form of Lucy and even tho he does spend the first half of the film being kind of cruel to Lucy by the end of the film he has learned his lesson something which we do see in the films skinny dipping scene where he does genuinely have fun with her.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty seven minuets and forty one seconds. Which to be fair is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for a film like this one to have in the first place and to be fair to this film this film really does have the right amount of plot to really cover that amount of running time in the first place with this being helped by the fact that the film doesn't really have any loose ends from the show tie up and can therefor just get right into the plot the second that it starts which is something that it does kind of do as while the film does take a few minuets to set up the characters and the plot once all of that is done every single scene is about pushing the plot and the characters forward. While this film doesn't kind of use its running time all that wisely due to the fact that the film doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot given just how simple that its plot is meant to be by design it also kind of doesn't need to as a plot that's this simple is one that does work with or without getting any kind of plot development and while yes it would have been nice if the makers of this film did add things to the films plot its also something that isn't needed to make a plot like this one work in the first place. The same thing is also kind of true for the films characters as well as for the four boys you could argue that they get there character development in the show and don't really need it in this film this is despite the fact that both Jay and Simon do in there own unique way get character development the same thing cannot be said however for the films new characters as they are the ones that really did need the character development the most as for all the audience and the makers of this film knew at the time we weren't going to be seeing these characters again and therefor the makers of this film should have added in scenes that did give the films newer characters some kind of character development as we know just as much abut them coming out of the film then we did coming into the film but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is  comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film being for lack of a better term gut bustingly funny as there are so many moments in this film that are either funny due to how awkward that they are or are so funny due to the fact that they are something that you could see characters like these actually doing in real life with this being due to the fact that alot of the thigs that we see not only in the show as a whole but in this film were inspired by the writers real life friends with that added layer of realism being something that dies make the films jokes even more funnier then what they really should have been. With the best joke in the whole entire film being when Neil , Simon and Will go to talk to the girls as they do this really awkward dance with none of them being in time with each other and with both Simon and Will clearly not being able to dance with Neil be the only one that can somewhat dance with the joke being made even funnier when you take into account that the trio even continue dancing when they've reached the girls table and yet they still carry on dancing which is just such a funny idea and it's clear as day that they had a blast filming that scene as it is such a cringy scene as we've all known someone who can't really dance try and act like they can and yet it's that added level of cringyness that does help to make not only this joke but alot of the films be funny with the rest of the films jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film should have been a ne and dine film as it is something that really does cap of the series quite nicely as it does give the boys the one thing that they've been trying to get for the whole show and yet because of the fact that this film go a sequel it means that this films perfect ending gets tossed away for no good reason let us hope that the possible third film that is development can be just as good as film was as this was a really good send off film for these truly iconic characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thins that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
