Hoppers Film SPOILER FREE Review

PIXAR have been a bit hit and miss lately with alot of there films doing the unthinkable and flopping at box office. Even Elio whish was actually a decent film flopped due to poor marketing which of course PIXAR tried and failed to blame the film underperforming at the box office on us the audience well now they have another new film out with this kind of being an original story and unlike Elio this film has actually been well marketed and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that is basically Avatar but if it was made by PIXAR with the film in question being called simply just "Hoppers" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when her favorite animal habitat is threated with destruction animal lover Mabel transfers her mind into that of a beaver in order to help save the habitat once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film having a plot that isn't fully original as it is basically just a carbon copy of the plot of Avatar it is still a plot that does work and works well due to the fact that the film knows full well what kind of a film that it is and therefor doesn't bother to have this deep thought provoking plot in it and while yes the films message is very heavy handed it is a plot that's handled as well as it could have been. The thing that does let this films plot tho is the fact that it's a lier revealed story and therefor you know instantly where the plot is going to go and sure enough it goes to those exact same places but to give credit to the film it knows that we are all sick of those boring and tired tropes and therefor the film does do things to try and make them interesting again however it fails in doing so because of the fact that it's still going through all of those tropes that we are sick and tired of seeing in these kinds of stories with the film being one that would have been better if it wasn't a lier revealed story as then the plot of the film would be alot more unpredictable with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rater engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Piper Curda as Mabel Tanaka , Bobby Moynihan as King George and Jon Hamm as Jerry Generazzo. Also starring in this film is Kathy Najimy as Dr. Samantha "Sam" Fairfax , Dave Franco as Titus , Eman Abdul-Razzak as Young Titus , Lila Liu as Young Mabel , Eduardo Franco as Loaf , Aparna Nancherla as Nisha , Tom Law as Tom Lizard , Vanessa Bayer as Diane , Sam Richardson as Conner , Melissa Villaseñor as Ellen , Isiah Whitlock Jr. as The Bird King , Steve Purcell as The Amphibian King , Ego Nwodim as The Fish Queen , Nichole Sakura as The Reptile Queens , Karen Huie as Grandma Tanaka and Meryl Streep as The Insect Queen.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that the film has some really good acting in it is something that's not all that surprising as all of the PIXAR films including there bad ones all have some really good acting in them with the acting in this film being of no exception to this rule as even tho the film does have some lesser known actors in it like for example returning Disney star Piper Curda and Vanessa Bayer they more then hold there own when it comes to acting in scenes that feature more established and well known actors and while it would have been super easy for those more well known actors to just phone in there performances as let's be real here there just doing this film so that they can show it to younger members of there families they don't phone in there performances either. With the best actor in the whole entire film being being Bobby Moynihan as King George as he not only gives you the wit and humor that he is known for but he also gives a really good dramatic performance which does show that he could be a really good actor if he really wanted to be with him more then holding his own when he's acting in a scene that has Meryl Streep in it. With the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Pixar Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact this films animation is not really something that's all that surprising as much like with the films acting all of the PIXAR films including there bad ones have some really good animation in them with the animation in this film looking like a return to form for PIXAR due to the fact that for the past few films now they've been obsessed with using what is commonly known as the bean mouth art style instead of doing what they used to do with the character designs and give there films unique looking characters designs and art styles. Thankfully this film does a huge course correct on that as the bean mouth style is nowhere to be seen in this film with all of the films character designs looking really good with them looking like characters that could only work in the world on this film. With the films quality of animation being just as high as you would expect from a PIXAR film with as while the last two Avatar films created some lifelike looking water in live action films this film does the same thing but for animated films as the water in this film looks so good which granted is not something that alot of people will notice but those that do notice how good the water looks will be impressed as water is one of the few things that is hard to do in CGI animation due to the fact that if you have a character in the water it means have to animate wet hair and clothes with the water acting differently each time and yet here both of the characters that are in the water have wet hair and it looks so good with the characters even having this nice fluid and at times zany looking movements to them.

Look it was pretty clear not only from when they first revealed the plot synopsis for this film but also when they first dropped the teaser trailer for this film that this film is nothing more then an Avatar knock off movie. As the film does copy several elements from that first Avatar film beat for beat which is something that does make it hard to call this film an original film as while yes the characters and setting are original to his film it's plot and central themes aren't as they were done ten times better in 2009 this wouldn't be a bad thing if the film was more subtle with what it is that there knocking off but the fact that they have a joke near the start of the film does show that they knew right away that people would and did call them out for being an obvious Avatar knock off. While yes granted Avatar it could be argued did copy the premise of Ferngully as much like with this film the plot is just so similar that you can't help but notice it Avatar was alot more subtle with it's themes where as this film out right tells you just what the themes of the film and shock and horror there the exact same themes as the one in Avatar. To this films credit tho they are aware enough of the fact that they are knocking off Avatar but if your still aware that your being an Avatar knock off movie openly saying it in the movie doesn't make it better it makes it more obvious due to the fact that this film doesn't really do all that much with that idea rather it just does alot of the things that Avatar did only now instead of being partly live action it's fully animated heck heck it could even be argued that the both of the films have the same central villain as that's how similar that both films are but to this films credit it does do something interesting with it's villain.

If you know PIXAR you'll know that when they introduce an older mentor type figure to the main character then they usually do something with those characters. Without saying what it is they do do it with Mabel's Grandmother in this film and this was something that I saw coming a mile away as after watching alot of PIXAR films you do start to notice when there going to try and pull the emotional rug from out under your feet however due to where they do it in this film and the fact that we don't get to spend alot of the time with the character before it happens it doesn't have the same impact as when Grandma Coco passed away. As even tho we hadn't had the chance to spend alot of time with her as a character in that film the film did still build up over it's running time just how much she meant to Miguel which was something that made her passing away all the more effective in the first place with the same thing even being true for Ellie from Up as even tho we only get to send ten minuets with her character we get a good idea of not only how her character but how much she meant to Carl and how much she loved Carl and how much he loved her whereas here in this film we don't get a good idea of how much her Grandmother meant to Mabel as we don't get to see them together before the main part of the film happens. Whereas if PIXAR really wanted to tug at our heartstrings then they should have given her character a little bit more screentime just so that we can see just how much they mean to each other as that would make what happens to Grandma Tanaka all the more effect and it would give us a chance to see how much that she means to Mabel.

Villain wise this film does somewhat fall a little flat on it's face as the film does technically have two villains with one of them being really obvious and the other being a surprise villain. With the whole surprise villain being something that does work here in this film as they don't spend to long with this character before he comes a main villain and therefor while the surprise isn't all that surprising it still kind of is surprising as it's not in any of the trailers and yet it's this film that is far more interesting then the person which we are led to believe is going to be the main villain of the film as while the other villain has a plan that is more routed in the themes of the film the surprise villains main goal is one that's routed in a good old fashioned revenge. With there scheme being that they want all humans to feel like bugs and therefor they rig up something that is deadly to human ears and will set it off at any minuet which is a good idea and to the films credit they do almost do it as with this film being a Disney film they of course can't have the main villain win but it's the fact that they get close enough to winning that helps to make this film villain be all the more creepy that and they do have some really creepy shots with this villain as well. The films other main villain on the other hand is kind of lame due to the fact that he's a more tame version of Quaritch from the Avatar films as he wants to destroy this one piece of land so that he can build something on it so that the people of the town where this film takes place in can get to this one place slightly faster and that's it which would be fine if they were meant to be a side villain and nothing more then that but this film spends alot of it's running time in building them up as the main villain and yet there plan does represent that at all.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty two minuets and thirty nine seconds. Which to be fair to this film is pretty much the bogstandard running time for alot of PIXAR's films and you really doesn't notice that the film is flying right on by with the film even having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place as this is a film that really doesn't need to be that long in order to tell it's plot in a way that does justice to it's story as this is a film that manages to tell it's story in a way that does justice to it's story in a shorter amount of running time. The film even uses it's running time really wisely due to the fact that it does take the time to fully develop it's plot as alot of the films scenes are all about pushing the plot of the film forward with us getting alot of information that are important to the plot of the film in alot of scenes spread out all throughout the film which is something that makes this films plot feel alot more thought out developed then what it really had any right to. The film even takes the time to give alot some of the characters some character development none of which will be spoiled here as they do happen in ways that are massive spoilers for the film but suffice to say the film spends just as much time on it's characters as it does on it's plot with the films characters feeling as well thought out and developed as the films plot is with it being clear as day that the makers of this film spent alot of time in giving us the things that we want to see in this film as PIXAR films used to be good and they can be again if they spend the time focusing on being a film and nothing more then that but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have t actually talk about the actual comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film having alot of moments in it that are not only painfully funny in there own right but also feel like the kind of jokes that these characters would say which is something that does make the jokes feel alot more character driven with the film knowing fully well when to tell a joke and when to let a moment just sit with us the audience as for alot of the films third act there's no jokes and that's great as that allows the tension to be built up which is something that allows the film to have this excitement about it that works really well. With the best joke in the whole entire film being how the two scientists explain what it was they did to a shocked Mabel as Sam says it a way that's really complicated with it being Nisha that has to dumb it down and when that doesn't work they have to come with another way of explaining it to her which is just so funny with the fact that they make it kind of a running joke with  those characters being something that helps to make what could have been as a pair of really useless characters be all the more entertaining with the only down side being that don't give both Bobby Moynihan and Ego Nwodim jokes in this film as they are both comedians therefor they both would have known how to make something funny with the rest of the films jokes being just as good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film not only deserves all of the praise that's getting at the box office but alot of the praise that's getting from critics as while it might be far to early to tell if PIXAR s well and truly back as they are developing Incredibles 3 with the director of Lightyear and other bad PIXAR movies the one thing that can be said is that this film is huge step in the right direction in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
