Winnie The Pooh 2011 Film Review
When people think of classic Winnie The Pooh one of the films that they don't think of besides Christopher Robin is the 2011 animated film. With this film largely being forgotten about by alot of people this is despite the fact that it's actually one of Disney's better films with the film getting alot right about the world and the characters and so then join me as I review the film that is just so charming to watch that you really can't help but to fall in love with it with the film in question being called simply just "Winnie The Pooh" enjoy.
The plot of this film when Eeyore's tail goes missing it's up to Pooh and friends to find him a new one and to stop a monster called the Backson. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot being as delightfully simple as you'd want it to be with these characters with simple being really the best word that you could use to describe this films plot  and while that might seem like a bad thing in alot of other films in this film being simple is something that does work well for this film as these are the kinds of characters that really do demand simple plots and not something that's big and epic like what we got in the Christopher Robin movie or something that's really scary like we got in the two Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey films as those don't feel true to the characters and yet here because of the fact that the films plot is so simple it feels true to who these characters are which is something that does allow for the characters to really shine with this being something that just wouldn't be possible if the film did have a more complicated plot to it and while yes the films plot isn't the strongest plot out there it's still a wonderfully well done plot that's as strong of a plot as it was ever going to be with the almost being worth watching just for it's plot alone with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Jim Cummings as Winnie The Pooh and Tigger , Travis Oates as Piglet and Bud Luckey as Eeyore. Also starring in this film is Huell Howser as The Backson , Jack Boulter as Christopher Robin , Tom Kenny as Rabbit , this films co-songwriter Kristen Anderson-Lopez as Kanga , Wyatt Dean Hall as Roo , Craig Ferguson as Owl and Monty Python and Fawlty Towers legend John Cleese as The Narrator.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films actors turning in some really good performance which is something that really does make alot of sense for someone like Jim Cummings who is the official voice actor for both Pooh and Tigger as he would know how to best perform those character and what kind of performance would fit those characters in any given scene but the same thing is also true for alot of the films other actors as well as they capture there characters just perfectly be it the snobbishness of Rabbit or the overly motherly nature of Kanga all of those things are all captured by there respective actors and it is something that does make there performances a joy to watch with the only real bad actor in this film being Wyatt Dean Hall as Roo as he does come across as being a bit to wooden at times but given that he was only a kid when making this film it is understandable as to why his performance is the way that it is with the best actor in the film being of course Jim Cummings as the man just as Pooh and Tigger at this point he is the voice that people think about when they think of those characters and he really does bring his A game in this film as well with the films acting really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Yowza Animation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films animation doing a really good job of proving that 2D hand drawn animation can still be good when it's in the right hands and while yes the world has moved on to 3D CGI animation there will always be a place for this form of animation as well as this films animation really does go a long way in capturing both the look and the feel of the original Winnie The Pooh books with the backgrounds alot of the time looking that they were drawn more for the books then this film and that is a look that does work well for this film as it does show you that the makers of this film really did go the extra mile in creating a true experience as they wanted to create something that could bridge the gap between generations what better to do that then to honor the original source material in the animation with there not really being a single fault in the films animation as this is one of the very few films that has pitch perfect animation as while this films animation will never be confused with being a work of art it was never meant to as it was meant to bring the world of the books to life and that's it and in that regard this films animation really is something that's truly beautiful to behold with all of the films characters having these really fluid movements to them something which you can really only get in 2D hand drawn animation.
To put it frankly the best word that you can use to describe this film is charming as that's exactly what it is it's charming in every single sense of the word. Be it the characters being they usual goofy but likable selves or even the films animation really capturing the look and the feel of the original books this film is just full to the brim with charm and it's something that really does help set this film from alot of the other Disney animated films as alot of the other films are more focused on trying to get across a message where as this film is more focused on keeping you entertained with characters that you grew up whilst also adding in a subtle message about friendship and that's really it and that's great because that's all that this film really needed to do and due to that this films charm is allowed to shine through with the best examples of this films charm being whenever the characters reference the fact that there just characters in a book as it makes the film feel more like a bed time story that you would tell a kid rather then a feature length film and while those kind of fourth wall breaks could be seen as being quite annoying they are things that help to make the film truly what it is and heck it could be argued that the film borrows it's more relaxing tone from the original Winnie The Pooh Disney shorts something that would make alot of sense as the makers of this film watched all of the original shorts and the films before making this film and it's that kind of dedication that really does make the makers of this film feel like true Winnie The Pooh fans as well as allowing them to imbue the film with alot of whimsy and charm and not just be another film that people might forget about five minuets after there done watching it.
While the film does have alot and I really do mean alot of positive things in it it does also have some negative things about it as well. Like the fact that the film does have a few to many plots going on at the same time that it does become hard to keep up with all of the films plots as you have the on going plot with Pooh bear just trying to find some honesty for his breakfast and then you have the plot about Owl writing his memoirs and then there's the plot about Tigger trying to train Eeyore to be just like him along with both of the main plots that it does seem like a few to many plot where as just having the main plot with the gang trying to find Eeyore a tail which then  evolves into them trying to find Christopher Robin with may be just the Pooh side plot being more then enough to carry the film as all of the plots just aren't needed as they add nothing to the overall plot of the film with one of the other negative things about this film being the fact that even tho this also apart of the charm of the film but the film does have one to many fourth wall breaks with them breaking the fourth wall alot of the time by having the characters either interact with the book that there in or by having the films narrator reference the fact that there in a book and it does get to be kind of annoying when they do that all of the time but at the same time tho this is something that does also add to the films charm as it does give the film a certain self awareness to it like the characters know full well that there in a book but there still going to have to have this crazy adventure even tho they could very easily skip to the end of the book to find out what happens alot of the time.
As was mentioned at the start of this review this film does have songs which were written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. While those two would of course be more well known for writing the songs to both Frozen and Frozen 2 the songs that they write for this film are just as good with us getting a good idea of what there songs would be like in Frozen with songs like "The Tummy Song" being a wonderfully comedic song that perfectly captures what Pooh bear is always thinking about alot of the time and while there some really good songs like for example "Everything Is Honey" as all that does is hit on the same themes as "The Tummy Song" and "A Very Important Thing To Do" which like the rest of this films songs are really well sung but that's also a song that's really forgettable as well where as more of the films better songs like "The Backson Song" and more for example are songs that you remember due to how good that they are in the first place and while of course a musical film will always have some bad songs in it here it seems to be that the film has more bad then good songs in it this is despite the fact that it has a great songwriting team which makes you wonder why alot of this films songs are just forgettable as it could be due to the fact that they just didn't know how to write songs for these characters or maybe it's because they were equally as focused working on the songs for Frozen that some of the films songs suffered because of it and while the film having bad songs isn't that much of a negative thing as this is a franchise that really isn't known for it's songs it is something that does hold the film back just a little bit tho.
Noe then this film has / had / an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and three minuets and three seconds. Which is such a running time for any film to have and yet at the same time tho it's the perfect running time for a film like this one to have with this film even having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place with the film even using it's running time really wisely in that it does develop it's plot really well or as well as it could have done in the first place as this is a plot that really doesn't need to be that well developed as it's just that simple in the first place that it really doesn't need to be that well developed to make it work all that well in the first place with the same thing even being true for the films characters as well as alot of what makes the characters work is the fact that they are these simple characters that aren't that well mentally developed with part of what makes them likable characters being the fact that they aren't that well developed as they are meant to be as if a child was playing with there toys and a child isn't going to think of well developed plots with well developed characters they are instead just going to have underdeveloped plots that somehow work to them and underdeveloped characters that in there eyes are well done characters and with that mind these are characters that don't need anything added to them as they work well enough just the way that they are and that is something that the makers of this film really do understand as they keep the film simple enough to allow the characters to be nothing more then there typical charming selves and that's all that they really need to be but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With alot of what makes this films jokes work as well as they do being the fact that it's characters just acting there usual selves and that's really it and to be fair that's more then enough to make them work in the first place as the characters themselves are funny enough to make them work in the first place with the film having alot of jokes that you won't always notice right away as the film is just throwing joke after joke after joke at you with the best example of this being the fact that they made Kanga really witty in this film with her having alot of really sharp and painfully comes backs to things that the other characters are saying or doing like for example when there having a contest to find Eeyore a new tail and she comes up with a knitted tail the gang all start to sing to her but all she says is that she just wants some piece and quite and just shuts them all down which is a really funny joke and then later on when there trying to suggest who should go and talk to The Backson she just right away says that she's with a kid a picks up Roo which is a just a good example of just how funny that this character could be and while yes the all of the other characters all get some really funny jokes as well all of which are jokes that really do hot home just how funny that alot of this films jokes really can be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this film is one that really does stand the test of time and is one that really should be talked about alot more then what it presently is as it's just that good of a film and does a better job of getting the Winne The Pooh characters down then both the Christopher Robin film and the Blood And Honey films can only dream of doing in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old core of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.
Now the as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally sued in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
