How To Train Your Dragon 2025 Film SPOILER FREE Review

Dreamworks has made it a hobby of copying everything that Disney has done as even there very first movie was a copy of PIXAR movie. As such it really shouldn't be all that surprising that Dreamworks has now started to remake there classic animated movies just like Disney have done with quite literally the only difference between this remake and any of the Disney remakes being the fact that the co-writer , director and composer of the original films filled those same roles in this film and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that really doesn't need to exist with the film in question being called simply just "How To Train Your Dragon" enjoy.

The plot of this film when a young Viking accidentally shoots down a dragon both he and the dragon form a bond and must stop and evil dragon from killing the boys father. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with that being because of the fact that it's an exact carbon copy of the original films plot beat for beat and at times even shot for shot and with the original films plot being not that bd it does also make sense that the same thing would also be true for this film as well however that's also the problem as this film is just copying the original film and therefor there's no reason to watch this films plot when all you can do is just watch the original movie and get a much more better experience out of it as there it at the very least felt like the makers of the film were trying to tell a good story where as here because of the fact that they've already told this story it felt like that the makers of this film where just on autopilot and therefor this films plot isn't as good as it could have been with even the plot of the film being a bit more weaker and bit more generic then what it was in the original film because of the fact that it's a story that we've seen played out in the original film which came out fifteen years ago with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Mason Thames as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and Nico Parker as Astrid Hofferson. Also starring in this film is Nick Frost as Gobber The Belch , Deadpool 2 star Julian Dennison as Fishlegs Ingerman , Gabriel Howell as Snotlout Jorgenson , Bronwyn James as Ruffnut Thorston , Harry Trevaldwyn as Tuffnut Thorston , Peter Serafinowicz as Spitelout Jorgenson , Ruth Codd as Phlegma and Gerard Butler as Stoick The Vast.

Now then interms of what I( personally thought / felt about the actual actin that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was i all honesty not that bad. With alot of this films actors turning in some really good performances which is something that was really shocking especially for the films more younger actors as alot of them apart both Nico Parker and Julian Dennison hadn't been in anything all that notable with Nico playing the main female character in Dumbo 2019 and Julian Dennison starring in Deadpool 2 and as such it would have been foolish to expect a good performance from any of this films kid actors and yet that's exactly what they give us as alot of this films kid actors do turn in some good performance with the same thing also being true for Nico Parker who was more wooden then aa blank of wood in Dumbo 2019 here is at the very least watchable with the best cast actor in this film being Nick Frost who is pretty much the very actor that you think of when you think of a live action Gobber The Belch with the best actor in this film being shockingly Gerard Butler who is the only actor from the original trilogy of films to reprise his role for this film and because of that he does have a great grip on his character and how best to play his character something which he puts to great use in this film with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written ad a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the really greats that really are currently over at Framestore. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as even tho this film just straight up copies the designs of the dragons from the original film the effects on all of the dragons do look really good with the dragons looking like that they were actually there on set but the issue is tho is that these designs do look a little bit to cartoony for a live action setting something which wasn't an issue with the original film due to the fact that the original film was fully animated and you therefor can go a bit more cartoony with the designs however with this film being live action you can't really do that and therefor designs like Toothless for example which work well in animation when it comes to live action they just look out of place this is despite the fact that all of this films effects do look really good something that does make alot of sense as Framestore is known for turning in alot of good looking effects in all the projects that they've worked on and with the being the only effects company working on this films effects nobody would have blamed them if one or two effects didn't look that goof but no all of this films effects look really good with there not really being any bad looking effects in this film and heck there's not even that many effects that are OK at best as that's just how good all of this films effects really well and truly are and with this film being a huge effects heavy film all of this films effects needed to look good to make the film work.

This film just straight up copies what alot of the bad live action Disney remakes do by having the exact same plot of the original film. However what sets this film apart from films like or example Beauty And The Beast 2017 is the fact that it's clear as day that Dreamworks knows that hey have to appease the fans of the original film and therefor there's nothing that's taken away from this film which could be seen as being a bad thing as well as it now means that we have no reason to watch the remake when we can just watch the original and get the exact same experience from the film where as with alot of the painfully bad live action Disney remakes they not only copy the plot of the original film beat for beat but what little things that they do add to them in an effort to fix issues that just weren't there with the original film now create more issues with the remake film but it is something that makes you wonder why Dreamworks decided to carry on their tradition of copying what Disney is doing as nobody likes the live action Disney remakes with the last few of them not even making that much money at the box office and therefor it makes no sense for them to copy what Disney was doing even more when you take into account that alot more people love Dreamworks animated output and therefor it would make more sense to focus more on giving us good animated films that tell original and new stories then to redo a story that's not even twenty years old where the only difference is the fact that it's now done in live action and that's really it as all that does is make it look like the Dreamworks really doesn't want to let this franchise die it out and therefor more then willing to milk it for all that it's worth.

To give this film some credit it does look like an expensive film as you can very easily see where all of the money went in this film. However just because the films look expensive doesn't mean that it's a good film as this film does have some badly done characters with the only two characters to get any real kind of development in this film being both Hiccup and his father and that's really it which granted that could also apply to the original film but here the makers of the film openly had the chance to fix that issue and yet they chose not to as they were more focused on sticking so close to the original that they forgot that the whole point of a remake is to fix what was wrong with the original film in the first place and because of that we end up with characters whose development not only comes out of nowhere but also feels out of place for there respective characters as they are presented in this film which is something that's made all the more worse when you take into account that none of the films side characters have any kind of personality trait to them outside of either being the bada*s , the dumb one or the rich one and that's really it and that's no enough to make interesting characters and while it's hard to say if that's also the case with the original film if it is then the makers of this film should have fixed it as you still want to make this film stand on it's own and not to just give the fans of the original film the exact same thing all over again and if it's not something that was in the original film then you have to wonder why the makers of this film didn't fix this issue as without having characters that you openly like and outside of Hiccup then you really don't have anything as you've already lost your audience by that point.

Out of this fil and the Lilo & Stitch remake this one is the one that could very easily make alot more money at the box office. Due to the fact that this franchise is alot more well known to today's audience with it being that exact same audience who won't really know of Lilo & Stitch due to the fact that it's never really been all that popular to mainstream audiences in the first place however tho it is still a pretty dumb thing for Dreamworks to have already announced the fact that there making a second one before this one even came out even more so when you take into account that this film doesn't even fix another problem that the first film and as this is a SPOILER FREE review it's not not really something that I can disclose in this review as it could be seen as being a spoiler but lets just say that it has something to do with the main villain of the film as the one issues that alot of people had the villain of the original film is still present in this film which just doesn't work as the makers of this film had the chance to fix this issue but because of the fact that there more focused on sticking to the original films script beat for beat it does mean that all of the original films problems are still presented in this film as well and heck the live action Disney remakes for all pf their faults still at least try to fix issues with the original film but here it felt like that the film makers where just on auto pilot as they knew that they already had a fanbase and there for chose not to fix any issues in regards to either the film or it's main villain which again just makes this film feel pointless to watch let alone to make as the original film isn't even that old and yet there now remaking it but not really bothering to fix any of the issues that were there in the first film in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty seven minuets and fifty eight seconds. With this films running time being another thing that it has in common with alot of live action Disney remakes as this film is alot more longer then the original film when it really doesn't need to be as this film is telling the exact same story in the exact same fashion as the original film and therefor it makes more sense for the film to be no longer then one hour and forty minuets with this film having just about enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time with this film not even using it's extended running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to develop it's plot something which the original film did actually take the time to do with it appearing like the makers of this film are relying on us the audience to remember the original film and expecting us to fill in all of the blanks interms of developing the plot of the film with this film not even taking the time that it rally did need to do in order to flesh out any of it's characters with quite alot of it's characters outside of Hiccup and maybe Astrid being very one dimensional characters which is something that does make it hard to form a connection to these characters and while the fans of the franchise will be able to love these characters those of us who only saw the original film once years ago won't have that and it's the same thing for the films kid target audience as well as the film doesn't really give us a reason to like any of these characters and yet with the original film we got exactly that and while this film does include one key scene that help us like one character that's not really enough as it doesn't really develop that character enough to the point where you do start to like them but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featu4ed / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this films action is really good but at the same time tho the film really doesn't take full advantage of the fact that it ha dragons in an action scene with the films dragons mainly being used as vehicles for the main lead characters which doesn't really lend it self to really exciting action as we don't get to see any of the what the kids learned all throughout the dragon training be used in this film action but at the same time tho when the film does use it's main dragons in really creative and un ways that's when we get to see some really fun and exiting action scenes and while it would be tempting to say that the films best action is the third act due to the fact that we get to see all of the characters and their dragons really working together it has to be the films opening action scene that's the best action in the whole entire film due to the fact that we get to see all of the characters use these really creative ways to try and take down a dragon all the while talking to Hiccup with each of them putting him down down in someway shape or form which is something that does form apart of his own personal character arc in the film as well with that being something that does make the films opening action scene the best one in the film as we get to see a story being told all throughout and while it could be argued that the same thing is also true for the third act in the opening action scene it was just more fun to see play out with all of this films action scenes being really good in their unique way as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this fil might be alot more better then all of the live action Disney remakes out there it is still a really pointless that really didn't need to exist in the first place with it only existing because of the fact that Disney are doing live action remakes and that's really as this is a film that might not get any new fans to it but is one that might please the fans that it presently has in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all pf the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and the official How To Train Your Dragon fandom wiki page. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official How To Train Your Dragon fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official How To Train Your Dragon fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid How To Train Your Dragon fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
