Avengers: Endgame Film Review
To say that there have been alot of really good comic book movies released over the decades would be a huge understatement. As would saying the fact that the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today is one of them as this film is just that good and with Captain America: Brave New World due out this Friday I thought that now really was the absolutely right time to take a look at this truly epic masterclass of a film and so then join me as I review the film that saw ten years of storytelling get wrapped up in a truly epic film with the film in question being called simply just "Avengers: Endgame" enjoy.
The plot of this film is five long years after the events of the previous film what's left of both the Avengers and the Guardians Of The Galaxy must team up to take on Thanos one last time and hopefully bring back all of the people that were blipped away the last time that they thought Thanos. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of this film being for lack of a better work epic as it's a plot that really does deserve to be called an epic plot as it's one that is so wonderfully told and wonderfully well written that it truly does feel like an epic film with the plot of this film also doing a really good job of not only wrapping up all of the plots from the previous ten years worth of stories but doing so in a way that feels natural and organic and heck if the MCU chose to end with this film no one would have minded as this films plot truly did feel like a finale plot and it's not that hard to see why this film was as good as it was not only back then in 2019 but even now six year later as this is a plot that only could have worked in this film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America. Also starring in this film is Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk , Chris Hemsworth as Thor , Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow , Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye / Ronin , Don Cheadle as James Rhodes / War Machine , Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man , Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel , Karen Gillan as Nebula , Danai Gurira as Okoye , Benedict Wong as Wong , Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan , Bradley Cooper as The Voice Of Rocket Raccoon , Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts / Rescue , Josh Brolin as Thanos , Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord , Zoë Saldaña as Gamora , Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer , Pom Klementieff as Mantis , Vin Diesel as The Voice Of Groot , Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange , Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man , Tom Hiddleston as Loki , Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff , Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes , Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon , Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa / Black Panther , Letitia Wright as Shuri , Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne / Wasp , Michael Douglas as Hank Pym , Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Ebony Maw , Carrie Coon as Proxima Midnight , Michael Shaw as Corvus Glaive , Terry Notary as Cull Obsidian , Tessa Thompson as Brunnhilde / Valkyrie , John Slattery as Howard Stark , Tilda Swinton as Ancient One , Rene Russo as Frigga , Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter , Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce , Winston Duke as M'Baku , Taika Waititi as The Voice Of Korg , Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow / Crossbones , Ty Simpkins as Harley Keener , Angela Bassett as Ramonda , Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds , Marisa Tomei as Aunt May , Ross Marquand as Johann Schmidt / Red Skull and Kerry Condon as The Voice Of F.R.I.D.A.Y..
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With it being hard to pick out a single good performer in this film not because this films acting is so bad but rather because all of this films actors turn in some really good wonderful performances in this film and even Brie Larson who is usually very robotic when it comes to playing Carol Danvers here is actually good and a joy to watch where as it's the opposite that's true for own solo movies and this is something that does go to show that this films directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo really do know how to get some really good performances out of there actors as even the actors that are just there to film a cameo role at somepoint in the movie still turn in some really good performances and this is something that really does make sense as all of this films actors had been playing there respective roles for years at this point in time and in some cases have been playing them since the very beginning of the MCU and so they would of course know what kind of performance would best suit there respective characters with the acting that's in this very film also being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does hep to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Stereo D , Animatrik Film Design , Yannix , Wētā FX , Digital Domain , Framestore , Double Negative , Cinesite , Lola Visual Effects , Cantina Creative , RISE Visual Effects Studios , Technicolor VFX , capital T , Exceptional Minds , BOT VFX and Banjara Production. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well the in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films CGI more then holding up almost yen year later while yes granted there are a few very dodgy looking effects to be found in this film there mostly background effects that don't detract from the film with the films overall quality of VFX being really high which is something that's not really that's all that surprising given which effects companies are working on this film as nearly all of them are known for turning some really high quality and that is something that does shine through in this film with the best looking effects in this film really being the time suits as they look so real that alot of people myself included thought that they were real as that's just how good the effects on those suits really are and while it would have been very easy to say that both The Hulk and Thanos are the best effects in this movie you know that they were done in a computer where as with the time suits they could have been done practically which makes it all the more shocking when it turns out that they were made entirely in a computer.
What one of this films does that was shocking is the fact that it pretty much made Clint Burton the main character of the movie. Which is something that does work as we get to see how "The Snap" effected the every man and Clint is the every man of The Avengers and seeing him desperately looking round for any signs of his wife and kids was truly heartbreaking as it's something that we never got to see in the previous movie but at the same time tho this film really doesn't focus on that aspect of the film with it being dropped very quickly for no reason whatsoever which is a shame as it's something that does give us a unique look into the wider MCU as everything that we've seen thus far has characters that can do the extraordinary and yet here's a guy that can't fly and can't do what a spider can and is just barely getting out of his each fight alive and that is something that could have made for some interesting scenes in this film but for some reason the makers of this film chose not to focus on Clint that much which depending on what you think of this version of the character is either a good thing or a bad thing and while it's not something that harms the film on the whole it is something that does leave you wondering what the normal person would think of certain other events from the MCU and how would they have handled those kinds of situations as well and while the film doesn't answer where Clint was during the events of the last film as that is something that he would have been there to help out with the fact that just all he wanted was to see his family does make him feel like that was the true hero of this film.
While this film does have quite alot of really good things going for it the one thing that it has going against it is the fact that it breaks it's own rules in regards to time travel. As the Nebula from the present kills her past self so there for the Nebula from the present shouldn't exist and yet this is something that the film doesn't even bother to try to explain as by there own rules when a person travels to the past that past now becomes there future however what that doesn't include is anything that happens to a past version of the same character which means that Rhoadie's messed up plan could have worked as that wouldn't change what had happened but it would mean that they could now be free to get the stones without Thanos interfering and it's the same thing with the 2014 Nebula being shot dead as now that creates a paradox of sorts since the Nebula from the present shouldn't be alive and yet she somehow still is and this is something that very easily could have explained with a line of dialog saying that changed made to the past take a while to kick in and effect the future be it a week , a month or however long that they desire and yet because of the fact that they don;t do that as there more interested in getting Back To The Future mixed up with Back To The Future Part 2 instead of focusing on creating a good time travel story of their very own and because of that we end up with a film that doesn't really follow it's own rules in regards to time travel and creates what could be seen as a paradox because of it as well.
One of the major themes that is in this film is sacrifice as we see both Natasha and Tony sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Which in this case is making sure that Thanos can't use the Infinity Stones yet again with both scenes of both characters being really well done as we get to see what both characters not only meant to certain groups of people but to also the team as a whole as well with Natasha's sacrifice being heartbreaking in that we know how much she and Clint meant to each other as good friends with either one willing to do anything to help the other so much so that we actually see them fight each other because they can't bare to witness the other die and with Tony we get to see the people who he meant to the most to come to him after he sacrificed himself by using the stones to wipe out Thanos and his army which again is a utterly heartbreaking scene as Tony was the hero that kick started the whole MCU and has been there the longest and yet to see him die was not only a fitting end to his character but it was also a shocking end as we're just coming off of loosing Black Widow in the same film and while Tony's death is the better done death as it meant that we got to see how different people react to it Natasha's death is the one that's more important to the films plot as without her sacrifice they wouldn't have been to get the soul stone and therefor wouldn't have been able to defeat Thanos in the first place.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly three hours and one minuet and eleven seconds. Which is perfectly fair amount of time for this film to have as this film not only has the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of time but also this film really did need that long of a running time as well as it had so many stories to wrap up as well as wrapping up the story of the Infinity Saga as a whole as well and even with this film being the second part of a two part film this film really did need quite a while to do all of that but at the same time tho this film really doesn't use that much of it's running time all that wisely as even tho Thanos himself was really well written and acted in the previous film in this film he's not that well written with him loosing everything that made him such a good villain in the first place this is despite the fact that he's still really well acted and yet the writers of this film Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely choose not to write him all that well in this film with him coming across as being just another badly written Marvel movie character yet we know thanks to Avengers: Infinity War that they can write good villains if they really want to. This film does even dedicate alot of screen time to showing us just what the world is like five years after the snap which is something that is done really well as it shows us that more then just The Avengers were effected by it and that the world is still suffering because of it and while the film doesn't really dedicate alot of screen time to showing us just how people are coping it doesn't really need to as that's not all that important to the actual plot of the film and would have been seen as being nothing more then filler but In really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that really does means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty being really good. With of course the best action scene in the whole movie being the films third act not just because of the fact that it's really good action sequence in it's own right but because of the fact that the scene where all of The Avengers and their various allies all walk through various portals together is just such a cinematic moment that even watching it on Blu-Ray doesn't do it justice with the action scene that follows that one moment being the cherry on top of the cake as it's just such a good heart racing action scene in it's own right as it feels like for the first time in two films that the heroes finally have the advantage over the villains and while the heroes have nothing to loose and so they can go all in because they've already lost in the previous film the villains have everything to loose as that's something that they've never gone through and expedience before the events of these two films and seeing the heroes finally defeat Thanos is just a happy moment because of the fact that we the audience have gone through this massive ten year journey with all of these characters and to see them finally defeat Thanos whilst they don't get the happy ending due to Tony sacrificing himself does make the ending good but in a bitter sweet kind of way with the action scene itself being really well done as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this is a film that can only e done justice by seeing it on the biggest screen possible as even watching this film on Blu-Ray just doesn't do justice to how good this film is as this is film that really is better experienced with a load of other MCU fans and that is something that other films havn't been able to replicate as this film really was just lightening in a bottle in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used I this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
