The Jewel Of The Nile Film Review

Hollywood is used to producing sequels to hit films very quickly infact for slasher films it's an oddly common thing to do. As such it was not really all that surprising when Romancing The Stone came out and was a huge hit that Twentieth Century Fox would get to work on developing the sequel and that's exactly what we got almost a year later and yeah you can tell that this film was a rushed production and so then join me as I review the film that really didn't need to be a thing with the film in question being called simply just "The Jewel Of The Nile" enjoy.

The plot of this film is six months after the events of Romancing The Stone romantic novelist Joan Wilder finds herself on another adventure with her love interest Jack Colton to find the mythical Jewel Of The Nile. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as it's nothing more then just a carbon copy of the plot of the first film and really nothing more then that which does have the add on effect of making this film come across as being rather pointless as all it does is remind you that you could be watching a much more better film and it also robs this film of being it's own unique thing as well and while yes the plot of this film does show signs of being good and creative in some places it's mostly just the plot of the first film told all other again only now it's done with the charm that made the plot of the first film come across as being fresh , new and creative as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well a being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is this films producer Michael Douglas as Jack Colton and Kathleen Turner as Joan Wilder Colton. Also starring in this film is Danny DeVito as Ralph , Spiros Focás as Omar Khalifa , Avner Eisenberg as Al-Julhara , Hamid Fillali as Rachid , Daniel Peacock as A Rock Promoter , Holland Taylor as Gloria Horne , Guy Cuevas as Le Vasseur , Paul David Magid as Tarak , Howard Jay Patterson as Barak , Randall Edwin Nelson as Karak , Samuel Ross Williams as Arak and Timothy Daniel Furst as Sarak.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As it's clear as day that all of the actors that are in this film are trying to turn in a good performance but at the same time tho it's also quite clear that there just phoning in there performances as there heart just isn't in it like it was in the last film and that this films director Lewis Teague really doesn't know how to get a good performance out of his cast which is something that really shine through in the final cut of this film and because of that really is the fact that the acting that's in this film really does duffer because of it with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place something which does also really help to lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Unlike the last film which did have some really good characters in it the same thing sadly cannot be said for this film. As all of this films characters are just forgettable characters this is even including the characters that are returning from the first film as well as alot of them just don't have that many memorable things to say or do with all of this films characters being written so badly which is fie for the new characters as the film is still setting up what there character is like but it's not a good thing when it comes to the films returning characters who are mostly written so unlike how they were written in the previous film that they might as well be different characters with this mostly being due to the fact that the makers of this film didn't even bother to bring back to the writer of the original film and only brining her own as a supervisor when the films script was undergoing rewrites with the film instead being co-written by a pair of writers that had nothing to do with the first film and there for just don't understand what these characters and while the actors do what they can to make them memorable they still need good writing and sadly that's something that really is lacking in this film and it's something that does let this film down quite a bit on a writing level.

To give you all an idea of just how bad this film is on a writing level this film was co-written by the writers of Superman IV: The Quest For Piece Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal. While the script for this film isn't as bad as the writing was for this film as at the very least this film managed to retain it's budget it's still not that good from a writing point of view which does stem from the fact that this film was mostly likely rushed into production when taking there time to make the film and make sure that they had the write script and the right crew involved with the film and the rest cast as well would have helped the film out alot more better then simply rushing out for the sake of cashing in on the success of the first film as all that does it dilute the first film and as a result of that is the fact that we now get a film that had to the potential to be a really good film as the the film does have some good ideas but because of the fact that this film was rushed into production and there for alot of the script problems couldn't be worked out ahead of time those small problems now become major problems and do effects the overall quality of the film.

As a romance film this film does fair somewhat better but that's mostly due to the fact that the characters involved with the romance were set up in the previous film. With the characters of Jack and Joan getting alot of screen time that's just dedicated to there relationship and with the two of them just talking about there relationship which is something that we didn't get in the first film and while that does help with there relationship the film really does nothing new with there relationship as you know right away where the film is going with there relationship and where the characters will end up at the end of the film which does make it predictable but at the some time it's more development then what the relationship got in the first film with this film rather rightfully giving it alot more time and attention which does help to make it more believable and while the characters of Jack and Joan don't fully explore there relationship to it's fullest there are still some really good scenes with the two of them just talking about there relationship and while we the audience aren't given a reason to care about these characters there relationship does come of as being sweet and heart warming.

Just like with the previous film both this films main villain and this films comedy just aren't that good with the main villain of this film Omar Khalifa just isn't that interesting of a character. With him just being a stereotypical rich person who just so happens which doesn't make him interesting it makes him boring and while Colonel Zolo wasn't an interesting character either he was at the very least a somewhat threatening villain where as with Omar he's not that threatening of a villain with him just getting his guards to do alot of the heavy lifting for him instead of him doing it all himself and as for this films comedy this film wasn't that funny and while this film does have some fairly funny moments in it there not as much and as often as the ones in the first film ad while granted the first film wasn't all that funny either when the first film did tell a funny joke it was a really funny joke where as here in this film when this film tells a funny joke it will only manage to get a smile out of most people at the absolute most with this film really having alot more unfunny jokes then it does have funny jokes but this film does have alot of funny set ups for good joke tho something that the first film really doesn't have.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty five minuets and fifty five seconds. Which is the absolutely perfect amount of running time for this film to have as the film really doesn't have that much there interms of plot to really cover anything longer then that which does mean that we get alot of scenes that could be seen as being filler scenes as they add nothing to the actual plot of the film and are there just to show of the bad comedy that the makers of this film give the insanely funny Danny DeVito all of which just bog down the films running time and are there just for the sake of padding and really nothing more then that and while the film could have been better if the film was a little bit more focused which would make the film alot ore fun to watch as things stand the film could have used a bit more tightening up here and there just to make the film a little bit more better then what it actually is and this would allow for all of the films characters to get alot more character development and the chance to become actually fully formed cha5racters something that the film really doesn't do but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which is on par with the first film as the action in that film wasn't all that bad either however where as Robert Zemeckis knew how to direct an action scene it's clear as day that the same thing cannot be said for this films director Lewis Teague really doesn't know how to handle directing action scenes something that did actually delay the filming of an action scene in this film and it's something that makes you wonder why the makers of this film didn't go with a more experienced action director to make this film as then you could have gotten some good looking action in this film and while we do get some decent looking action scenes those really are very few and far between and as a result of that is the fact that parring one or two action scenes we the audience are left watching a bunch of really painfully boring action scenes that really just aren't as good as they really could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film had all of the potential to be a really good film it just needed better writers and a really much more better director to help the film to realise it's fullest potential and while this film really isn't as good as it really could have been it's also not as bad as it really could have been either as this film really could have been just that good of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
