The Crow 2024 Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

It's not unusual for a movie that's based off of a book to get a second adaptation years later infact it's a very common thing to see in Hollywood. What really is uncommon however is for a comic book to get a second adaption years after the release of the first film and yet that's exactly what we've really gotten not once but twice this month with both the film that i'm about to review for you all today and Watchmen: Chapter 1 and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that really didn't need exist with the film in question being called simply just "The Crow" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when he and his fiancée is brutally murdered by members of the mob Eric Draven is resurrected and goes on a mission of vengeance to track down and kill all of the people who killed him and his fiancée once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as all it was was just a more watered down version of the plot of the first film which does make sense as both films were adapting the exact same source material but at the same time there needs to be some level of respect thrown into the plot of the film to both the original source material and the original film along with new things added in to make it feel fresh and different and both of those things really are very sadly missing from the plot of this film with this films plot being nothing more then a more really watered down and a really far less mature version of the plot of the first film with the plot of this not really being really rather entertaining not is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven / The Crow , FKA Twigs as Shelly Webster and The Aviator , X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Wonder Woman star Danny Huston as Vincent Roeg. Also starring in this film is Detective Pikachu star Josette Simon as Sophia Webster , Foundation star Laura Birn as Marian , Sami Bouajila as Kronos , Isabella Wei as Zadie and Tom & Jerry and Peaky Blinders star Jordan Bolger as Chance.

Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time this films acting isn't all that good ans while all of this films are indeed really trying to turn in a good performance in this film the issue is tho is that this films director Rupert Sanders really has no clue how to direct his actors in his films something which he's proven time and time again to be the case as he's more focused on spectacle rather then acting acting and as a result of that is the fact that alot of this films actors really do comes across as feeling lost and unsure of what to do performance wise with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this film s cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place and that is something that really does lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

For once it actually is impossible to say who is doing the CGI for this film as there no effects companies listed anywhere on IMDB. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as CGI is used in the right way in that it's only used to enhance what was already there on the day of filming or to do something that couldn't be possibly done by a practical effect which is the absolutely right way to use CGI and to this films credit even tho it doesn't have much CGI in it even hidden CGI what little CGI it does have does for the most part look really good and looks really better then what you think it would given that this film has a really small production budget of fifty million American dollars and the film does make the as much use of it's limited CGI that it really could have done but at the same time tho this films CGI really could have been alot better then what it actually was as the film does gave some really bad looking effects shots which is something that really does lower the overall quality of the effects that are in this very film.

If your a fan of the 1994 film or even the comic books that both films are based off of then don't watch this film. As this film doesn't do either of them justice with the first film just being a cool film that alot of people really do love where as this film just throws all of that away for no good reason which wouldn't be a bad if the actor playing Eric Draven in the 1994 film was still here with us today but as we all know that's not the case with The Crow being his lasting legacy with this film just downright spitting on that legacy by saying that they can do that film better and the fact is that they can't say what you will about the sequels but they at the very least knew not to use the Eric Draven character because of how irreplaceable that leading actor Brandon Lee was as he simply was Eric Draven where as Bill Skarsgård despite him being a really good actor in his own right isn't the right person to play this character and as a result of that i the fact that he just comes across as playing a character where as Brandon Lee just was the character in every single sense of the word with this film also stripping back on everything that made the original film so cool to begin with all for no reason whatsoever and because of that is the fact that this film really doesn't feel like a The Crow film at all and instead comes across as being The Crow in name only.

This film does rather rightfully but alot of effort on the romance between Eric Draven and Shelly Webster. Which is something that does make alot of sense as there romance is a key plot point but at the same time tho they also don't give us a reason to want to see these characters end up together heck the original film didn't do that either but that film at least had the likable characters to and great looking action to distract you from all of that where as this film doesn't have any of that and as a result of that is the fact is the fact we have a boring romance that really does go nowhere and really doesn't work when you stop and think about it for even a second where as with the original film you could kind of see why these characters would end up together as they really did care about each other where as here because of the fact that this film director Rupert Sanders didn't have both Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs meet up with each other and spend some time with each other prior to shooting the movie and it really does show as they really don't have that much chemistry together something which really should have been worked on by having the two of them spend some time together prior to filming as that would help to give them some actual chemistry together.

To give this film some credit it does have a somewhat passable villain in Vincent Roeg something which is also true for the original film as well. With this films villain also having a unique twist to him which does make hims standout from alot of other comic book villains but at the same time tho the character really doesn't have an end goal in mind with him just being evil for the sake of being evil and that's not enough to make him interesting villain and heck the character isn't in the film all that long with him not having that much screen time in the final cut of the film and as a result of that is the fact that we have a villain that isn't as interesting as he really should have been with him just being a cardboard cut out of a character which doesn't make him an interesting character as all it does is make him a really dull character this is despite him having a really good hook to him which could have made a really cool villain if the film bothered to actually make a really good character and really lean into thar aspect of the character that makes him so cool in the first place with that aspect also being really perfect for the world of The Crow as well and yet for some strange reason the makers of this film instead chose to really make him a really boring character but one that has a really good hook to him in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty minuets and forty seven seconds. Which is both the perfect running time for this film to have but at the same time it's also a really short running time for this film to have as well as while this film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time the film also spends alot of time just on setting up the relationship between Eric Draven and Shelley Webster but st the same time tho you don't go to a The Crow movie to see alot of the details about there relationship as all you need to see is the basic details and that's really it and yet this film gives us so much detail and spends so much time in setting up there relationship that by the time that the actual plot of the film does kick in there's only about one hour left and that's not enough time to do a story like this one but at the same time tho if this film was longer then you would be left with a bunch of scenes that just come across as being filler scenes as alot of them really would add nothing to overall plot of the film and really would be there just for the sake of being there and that's really it but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that' actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time tho this films action really isn't all that good either as alot of it just isn't that fun or interesting to look at where as when you compare this films action to the action in the original film which was really good and really entertaining then it really does make you wonder why the action in this film wasn't all that good even more so when you take account that this film has all of the potential to have some really good action in it and yet for some strange reason the action that we got in this film just wasn't that good with alot of it just boiling down to who can shoot who the fastest first and that's really it which is fine for one or two action scenes but when alot of the films action is just something like that then it really does start to get boring after a while and yet when the film does put it's guns down then it does get really good with the best example of this being the films third act which is a really good action scene and really is quite easily the best action scene in the whole entire movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall even if you don't compare this film to the previous film then this film still isn't that good as it fails of being a good film on even the most basic level and yet the film had it's end altered by the makers of this film so that they could make a sequel to this film which it really shouldn't do as this film really is just that bad of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really foes mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very film well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very film from the official The Crow fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official The Crow fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official The Crow fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official The Crow fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
