Twisters Film Review
There are some films that get sequels right away and that you remember , there are some films that get sequels years alter but you still remember them and then finally there are some films that get sequels years later but you've forgotten about them. The film that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today falls into that last category as let's be real here barely anyone is going to remember the 1996 film Twister and yet for some reason despite the original films stars trying to get one made in the nineties the sequel has just been released and so then join me as I review the film that is a sequel to film that not alot of people are going to remembering anytime soon with the film in question being called simply just "Twisters" enjoy.
The plot of this film is a retired storm chaser has to team up with a new bunch of storm chasers to stop a tornado from destroying a small town in Oklahoma. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad which in this case is something that works for this films advantage as the plot of the first film wasn't that good either with the plots of both films being very basic at best and where as the plot of the first film was meant to be like as that what alot plots from disaster films were like back then here the plot of the film is like that to serve almost as a throw back to disaster films of the nineties where the plot ad characters weren't given that much care and attention but there is some love and thought put into the plot of this film that really does make it really standout from all of the summer blockbusters that are really coming out this very with the plot of this film being really rather entertaining and as well as being really engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Carter , Glen Powell as Tyler Owens and Anthony Ramos as Javi. Also starring in this film is Brandon Perea as Boone , Maura Tierney as Cathy Carter , Harry Hadden-Paton as Ben , Sasha Lane as Lily , Daryl McCormack as Jeb , Kiernan Shipka as Addy , Nik Dodani as Praveen , Superman star David Corenswet as Scott , Tunde Adebimpe as Dexter , David Born as Marshall Riggs and Katy O'Brian as Dani.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featu4ed / presented to us n this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in al honesty not that bad. With all of this films actors turning in some rather solid performances which given who is starring in this film does make alot of sense as alot of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors who really do know how to turn in a really good performance and as a result of that is the fact that they would also turn in a good performance in this film while some performances are better then others with Anthony Ramos for example not being all that good in this film especially when compared to someone like David Corenswet who is solid in this film with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Industrial Light & Magic. Now the interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGU that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho the CGI in this film wasn't all that good with the effects in this film being OK at best which would be OK if this film was released in the nineties but t wasn't and as a result of that is the fact that we do have a film that has effects that do feel at home in a nineties film but in a more modern film don't look as good and while yes the effects in the first film weren't most likely that good due to the time that that film came out at least for that film the makers of the film have the excuse of it being made in the nineties and thus won't be as good as alot of things that come out today but here it's the opposite that's true and because of that is the fact that the effects that while there are some decent looking effects do for the most part come across as looking really bad.
This film is a throwback to how summer blockbuster films like Dante's Peak used to be as the main focus of the film isn't the story nor it's characters. Rather it's the effects that are the star of this film as they should be as nobody would go to a film like this one and expect to see a solid plot with characters that we like and yet that's exactly what we get in this film which is something that does both work for and against the film it works for the film in the more traditional sense in that all films should have good writing and acting in them but at the same time it works against the film in the way that there not really something that you'd want to see in a disaster film and while this film is meant to be a throwback to those classic disaster films it doesn't mean that the film has to stick with what worked in those films and instead change what didn't work in those films and actually fix them instead of doing what they would have done if the film was in less capable hands and that's fix the issue from the previous film and replace it with something that's ten times worse.
If your expecting this film to be a direct sequel to the first film then be prepared to be disappointed as this is a stand alone sequel. Which means that you can watch this film without having watched the previous film but at the same time it would have helped to watch the first film just to get an idea of what this film is going to be like but it's not something that's really needed for this film to work and that is something that does work well enough for this film as it allows the film to stand on it's own to feet ad not relay on any nods or characters from the previous film something which is lost in alot of legacy sequels which is something that this film pretty much is and as a result of that is the fact that it allows newer audiences to enjoy this film without having the feeling of needing to go and do homework and watch the original film to work out who these characters are and top of that is the fact that it means that the makers of this film also have to put in alot more effort into making there characters standout more as they dont have the legacy characters to help them out which is something that will help this film out in the long run.
To be frank this film isn't going to earn that much money at the box office simple because of the fact that the first film isn't that well remembered. Which is something that could work for the film as it would allow the makers of this film to do whatever it is that they need to do and it would feel completely at home i the world of the original film but at the same time tho the film also doesn't have that nostalgia factor or that many fans in the first place and while this film is currently doing OK and will most likely make back it's production budget of over two hundred million dollars at the box office it won't make that much money interms of making a profit for Universal Pictures and while yes this film does have alot of things going for it with the character being really well done being one of them but at the same time tho given that these types of films don't typically do well and the fact that alot of films this year haven't doing all that well it's hard to picture this film making all that much money at the box office but to this films credit you do at the very least see where all of the money went when it comes to making this film tho.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty three minuets and eighteen seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have but at the same time tho this film doesn't have that much plot to really cover that large amount of running time and as a result of that is the fact that we get alot of scenes that don't advance the overall plot of the film but rather instead the characters own personal character arcs which does mean that those scenes have to be included in this film and it does also make it hard to say what scenes need to be cut from the film as even tho the scenes on there own might seem unimportant when it comes to the grand scheme of things and the overall films those scenes suddenly become very important and as a result of that is the fact that the only way to fix this films running time would be to start from scratch as the you could make cuts to the film that aren't important to either the plot nor the characters own personal character arcs but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not all that bad. As the action in this film really is as good as it really could have been given what the main foe of this film is and as a result of that is the fact that even tho the main foe of this film can only do one thing and that's destroy everything that's in it's path it does make the action that's in this film really entertaining as we get to see a whole lot of really creative destruction with the action in this film not only being pleasing on a destruction level but we also get to see how the action in this film effects the characters in various different ways all of which do effect the characters and all of which do gave some impact on the plot of this film thus making alot of the action in this film feel alot more character driven then the alot of the action in other films are and in that regard that does make the action in this very film both feel and look visually different from alot of other action scenes in alot of other action films out there in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this film is alot better then what it really had any right to be as on paper nobody would expect a sequel to be Twister to be that good and yet really that's exactly what we got with this film with this film being something that be need to be seen in the big screen to really fully appreciate just how epic this film could really be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand p;d score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
