Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

Hollywood just loves to give us pointless sequel movies to movies that don't really need or even want them in the first place. With the latest one to get the start of what really is meant to be a sequel trilogy of films having just been released and well as the last two films really were just so good in the first place you all just knew that I had to check this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that carries on the tradition of having a mouthful of a title with the film in question being called simply just "Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when his home is destroyed and his father is killed is young ape by the name of Noa teams up with a human named Mae to find his father's killer and bring the rest of his clan home before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but when you compare it to the plots of the last two Planet Of The Apes films the plot of this film isn't all that good either as it lacks the smartness that was present in the plots of those last two films whilst the plot of this film is good in it's own right it's nothing that we haven't seen done better in other and quite frankly much more better films as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is It and It Chapter Two star Owen Teague as Noa and The Witcher star Freya Allan as Mae. Also starring in this film is  X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Resident Evil: Retribution star Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar , The Orville star Peter Macon as Raka , Shameless USA William H. Macy as Trevathan , Travis Jeffery as Anaya , Lydia Peckham as Soona , The Flash and The 100 star Neil Sandilands as Koro and Power Rangers RPM , The Defenders and Jessica Jones star Eka Darville as Sylva.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As the cast do the best with little that there given to work with but that's also the issue tho as this films director quite clearly doesn't know how to direct his cast which would be forgivable if he hadn't already directed three previous movies and as a result of that is the fact that we get a cast that whilst they do indeed turn in some really good performances in this film just seem lost with them not really knowing what type of performance to give in any given scene with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad with this films script not really giving the actors much to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first which is something that really does affect the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and of course the really greats that are currently over at Wētā FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about re actual CGI that's actually featured / presented t us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very  film was in all honesty really good altho at the same time the CGI in this film isn't as good as the CGI was in the previous films this is despite them using the exact same company and the exact same method of brining the apes to life but for some reason the CGI in this film either looks cheap or unfinished where as with say Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes for example the CGI in that film looked fantastic and still holds up really and yet for some unknown reason that's just not the case with this film however the film does still have some really impressive looking apes in it tho but even they just lack that extra special something that made the ape effects in the previous two films really standout.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you that don't perhaps know this film is infact a sequel film to the previous trilogy of Planet Of The Apes. With this film picking up several generations after the death of Ceaser and while this is a good idea as that trilogy of films was so beloved by a lot of people at the same it's also a really bad idea as well as it's now tied to a bunch of films that were all praised by both critics and fans a like and while this film is getting positive reviews from critics there's nothing in this film to please either the fans of the previous trilogy of film nor the fans of the franchise as well and as a result pf that is the fact that this film would have been better served if it was the first film in a new timeline of films as then that way they could do whatever it is that they wanted to do with the film and not have to worry about things like continuity for example and not have to worry about being connected to a much more better series of films and yet because it is tied to that previous trilogy of films this film is ultimately going to come of looking all the ore worse for it just due to the fact that those previous films were all so really good.

To give this film some credit the story line of Noa trying to get an eagle to land of him was a good storyline. As it ties into the fact that he was trying to do the right thing without truly understanding what it means to do the right thing and that does make it all the more impactful when in the films third act that he turns down siding with Proximus Caesar to stick with his main objective even tho it would be easier for him to side with Proximus Caesar and when he does decide not to side with Proximus Caesar only then does he finally manage to get the bird to land on him because he's done what really was truly the right thing to do and while that moment might be seen as being cheesy it is also something that forms a crucial part of this characters whole entire arc as he's really now being forced to learn to be a leader and what better to symbolise that then having the very bird that his father was able to command with ease finally come under the command of Noa when he needed it the most and as a result of that is the fact that we get a scene that might really be the best scene in the whole entire as the scene where the eagle does land on him is truly stunning scene to look at as it's a scene where the CGI and the music really come together perfectly to create something that really is something that's really very visually stunning to look at.

What would have been very interesting to explore in this film is the relationship between the apes and the humans and that's something that isn't focused on all that much. As we only get one or two scenes around the halfway point of the film that touch on the relationship between the apes and humans with some humans like Mae openly choosing to remain silent as a way to survive in this new world and yet for some reason the makers of this film choose not to focus on that relationship despite it being set in a time where it would have been very interesting to see how that relationship has evolved since the last film an given the fact that we've already seen the whole apes vs apes conflict in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and we've not really fully explored the relationship between apes vs humans in this new world without Ceaser it would have been interesting to see that especially now that most humans have lost the ability to talk essentially becoming ape like themselves and yet the film gives us something that we've already seen in a much more better and much more beloved Planet Of The Apes film which it makes pointless to include a watered down version of it in this film as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and fifteen minuets and twelve seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for these prequel films to have and yet at the exact same time tho this film does feel a bit on the long side this is despite the fact that the film really does have more then enough plot to really cover that large amount of running time and even with that being the case the film is still stuffed to the brim with things that are obviously in there to set up the future sequels instead of just including things that are important to this film all of which makes the film feel more crowded then what it actually is and as result of that is the fact that those scenes that are there purely to set up stuff for the sequels which may or may not happen and that just makes them pointless to include in this film as it takes time away from scenes that could be used to develop this films main characters and making them seem alot less like a cardboard cut out of other and quite frankly better characters but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as alot of this films action wasn't all that good either as alot of it just lacked the impact and weight that was present in the last two Planet Of The Apes films and yet despite this film having some fun and creative action scenes none of them are going to live up to the action in the last two films as the action in those two films made you feel something for the characters and yet because of the fact that this film doesn't make you feel anything for it's characters the action in this film despite looking really cool lacks that emotional weight that a film like this really does deserve and yet for some strange reason it's something that just isn't in this film at all and that does make the action seen in this film feel boring with the same thing also being for this films third act as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Overall while this film would have been a much more better if it was the start of a new timeline for this truly iconic franchise as that's really not the case however this film just really feels like that it's trying to cash in on the previous trilogy without understanding what it was that really made the previous trilogy so good in the first place in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and a swell as all of the and things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that  personally used in this very review from the official Planet Of The Apes fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from the official Planet Of The Apes fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great the official Planet Of The Apes fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
