Back To Black Film Review

Music biopics used to be a thing that would only happen once every so often where as now they seem to making more and more of them. Which isn't always a good thing as alot of people that are focused on in those biopics never really got the chance to live a full live case in point the person who is the main focus of the fil that i'm about to review fro you all today and so then join me as I review the film that really should have been alot better then what it actually is with the film un question being called simply just "Back To Black" enjoy.

The plot of this film is young singer Amy Winehouse has always dreamed of being a singer but when she finally gets the chance to realise her dreams life and family makes it hard for her to fully live out those dreams. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with that also being the issue as this films plot wasn't all that good either as it doesn't really go into that much detail about why she was the way that she was with the plot of the film instead just glossing over things that really did help to shape who she really was as a person and not even showing us why she really wanted to he a singer in the first place with the plot of the films also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse and Skins star Jack O'Connell as Blake Fielder-Civil. Also starring in this film is Eddie Marsan as Mitch Winehouse , Juliet Cowan as Janis Collins-Winehouse , Lesley Manville as Cynthia Winehouse , Sam Buchanan as Nick Shymansky , Harley Bird as Juliette Ashby , Ansu Kabia as Raye Cosbert , Ryan O'Doherty as Chris Taylor , Spike Fearn as Tyler James , Francesca Henry as Chantelle Dusette , Liv Longbourne as Catriona Gourlay , Bronson Webb as Joey , Therica Wilson-Read as Becky , Thelma Ruby as Auntie Renee , Matilda Thorpe as Melody Abelson-Winehouse , Pete Lee-Wilson as Perfume Pete and Game Of Thrones star Miltos Yerolemou as Jimmy.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what it real;y had any right to be. As nobody expected good or even great acting from this films cast and yet that's exactly what we get as all of this films cast members really do turn in some really good performances in this film with the true standout performances in this film coming from Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse and Jack O'Connell as Blake Fielder-Civil both of whom are truly fantastic in this film and both of whom really do capture the spirit of the people that they are portraying in this film with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise up the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

One of the things that this film fails to do is give us a good look at what the family dynamic was before Amy Winehouse became famous. This is something that the film really should delved into apart from her father and grandmother we really don't know what her relationship is like with the rest of her family as her mother is barely even a character in the film and her brother despite being mentioned near the start of the film doesn't appear in the film and while the film does show us what her family life was like before she got famous it doesn't go into that much detail about it with the family not even being a factor in the film at all for alot of the film all f which makes what should have been a key aspect of the film come across as being really undercooked with the same thing also being true for alot of the family as well as alot of them despite playing a big part in her life don't have that much of an impact of the film and the films plot with there characters feeling like that they were just because they had to be there and not because they served a purpose at that point in time.

For some reason even tho the 2015 film Amy paints Amy herself in a good light it doesn't paint her family in a good light and because of that her parents disowned this film despite it getting good reviews. Yet they fully supported this film despite it painting Amy herself in a bad light and painting them in a good light which makes you wonder if the reason why they hated the other film wasn't due to it's content but due to the fact that they were made to look bad and yet the support this film despite it making there daughter look bad as it paints her as someone who was very quick anger and and had jealousy issues both of which are red flags as well as this film paining her as someone who abuses drugs on a regular which yes was true to live but at the same time you also want your daughter to be painted in the best light possible something which her parents don't understand as they support a film that doesn't do that and don't support a film that may or may not do that but instead makes them look like really bad parents.

While this film does indeed get some credit for trying to tell a story about someone who didn't get the chance to live out there story until it's end. It's that very thing that makes this film feel pointless and filled to the brim with wasted potential as there are so many things that could have been included in the film had Amy had the chance to live a longer life and while it's of course not the film makers fault that they don't have that opportunity to tell a more interesting story it also makes you wonder why they chose to make a biopic about someone who didn't have the chance to do alot more with her life instead of just leaving it in a documentary form which would have been the better way to tell this story as then you can get stories straight from those that were closest to her and who knew her really well instead of having her story being written by someone who didn't know her all that well at all and if the film was a documentary then the actual family themselves could then appear in the film and put across what she like at home something which couldn't be done in this film.

To give this film some small amount of credit they do do some really good versions of her songs with actress Marisa Abela having a really good voice that is close to how Amy herself sounded in real life when she sang her songs. However this film commits one of the biggest sins that no music biopic wants to commit and that's not tell us how alot of her most famous songs were created which is one of the reasons why people would come to see this film and it's certainly why the fans of hers would come to see this film as well and while yes we do indeed get to see how some of her songs were created which does make those songs seem alot more sad then what they originally were it's not something that we get to see for alot of her most famous songs which does make this biopic feel pointless and while yes we do get to see how her songs effected her and how her music effected others we don't get to see the fact that she was forced into playing R and B type music when all she wanted to do was to play Jazz music as that was the music that she loved and that's something that's in all of her songs and yet for some strange reason it's not included in this very film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour ad fifty six minuets ad fifty nine seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have as the film really doesn't have alot there interms of plot to really cover a longer running time and to this films credit due to what happened in real life the film would have struggled to get a much more longer running time out of this plot unless they were going to go the Elvis route and tell us very single aspect of this person's life which still would have made the film come in at a short running time anyways and while the film could have dine with having a much more longer running time just so alot of the films characters could be more fleshed out and so alot of the films plot can also be developed alot better the what it already is but at the same time tho this films plot is already thin enough as t is and having even a slightly longer running time would be stretching the films plot even thinner but I will admit that that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now th3en as this is a drama that means that I have to actually talk about the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as this films drama wasn't all that good either with alot of this films drama not only just just coming out of nowhere but also not even playing apart in not only the plot of the film but also in how Amy herself acted alot of the time but when we do get some good drama it is really good and alot of that is because of the fact that it does affect of Amy acts and does play a part in the plot of the film and it's those dramatic moments that really help the film stand out as they really give you an inside as to who Amy Winehouse was as a person instead of just showing her as someone that we didn't really get to know all that well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film had all of the potential to be a really good film and yet due to it's fairly terrible director in Sam Taylor-Johnson who just can't make this films decent script even better and live up to it's full potential all of which make this film alot kore worse then what it really should have been alot better then what it ultimately ended up being in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from Google Images are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
