Josie And The Pussycats Film Review

There are lots of comic book films out there even more then what alot of really know about as alot of them come from more then just Marvel or DC. With the chief example being the film that i'm about to review for review for you all today as this is a film that comes from a little known comic book series that really hasn't cracked the mainstream yet and so then join me as I review the film that not alot of people know is actually a comic book with the film in question being called simply just "Josie And The Pussycats" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when the band Josie And The Pussycats are signed to a major label they discover something that could test there friendship forever. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as it's just the stereotypical plot that you'd expect in a girl band movie only with no charm to pull it off and heck this films plot is basically very similar to that of the Jem And The Holograms movie with this not really being helped by the fact that this films plot not even being all that entertaining nor is it really all that engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Rachael Leigh Cook as Josie McCoy , Tara Reid as Melody Valentine and Rosario Dawson as Valerie Brown. Also starring in this film is Gabriel Mann as Alan M. Mayberry , Paulo Costanzo as Alexander Cabot , Missi Pyle as Alexandra Cabot , Alan Cumming as Wyatt Frame , Parker Posey as Fiona , Tom Butler as Agent Kelly , Donald Faison as D.J. , Seth Green as Travis , Alexander Martin as Les and Breckin Meyer as Marco.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very fill was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the issue as this films acting really isn't all that good either with this films cast for the most part not really turning in a good performance for the most part as the actors that you expect a good performance will do deliver in this film but at the same time tho what really does let this films acting down quite a bit is the fact that this films script really isn't all that good with the films script not really giving all of the cast alot to work with interms of what their character respective personalities even are and as a result of this is the fact that this films cast really can't deliver the type of good performance that we the audience know for a fact that they can deliver.

This film is of course based of off the comic book characters if the exact same name with the characters first appearing in Archie Comics from February 1963. With the characters appearing on and off all the way until October 1993 with the characters then not really making an appearance in Archie comics until September 2016 and have continued to make on and off appearances ever since then which really isn't a bad thing as they are meant to be side characters in the world of Archie comics but even so they are the ones that have made pretty much the most appearances in other forms media outside of the the realm of the comics with them appearing in two animated TV shows from the nineteen seventies , the Riverdale TV show , a Riverdale spin-off show and of course this film and yet even so while the characters aren't really all that known for there comic book exploits they are more known for their animated TV series exploits.

For some strange reason this film cost anywhere between twenty two to thirty nine million dollars to make. Which such a huge mistake as this film really should have cost anywhere between $2 to $ million dollars at the most with there being no reason whatsoever as to why this film cost as much as it did as the film really doesn't look like that it cost all that much to make with the film looking like a Disney Channel Original Movie as that's how cheap this film looks as there's nowhere in this film where you can see where all of the money went to when making this film and as a result of this there's really no reason as to why this film cost as much as it did as the film has no real big named stars starring in the movie and so the actors wouldn't have needed a big fee there's next to no CGI in the movie so there's no money being spent there this film has no scenes where you can see where the money went but you can see where the $2 to $5 million dollars that the film really should have cost to make when making this film tho.

Even tho this film was a flop at the box office with it not even making back it's production budget of $14.9 million dollars. The film has gone on to become something of a cult hit film with the film having it's fans and it's not hard to see why as if you  saw this film when it first came out it would be very easy to get into this film and like it and heck even if you liked The Cheetah Girls movie you would most likely like this film as the two films are very similar with this film pretty much being made for being a cult film and when you take into account that this film is a comic book film which didn't typically make money back in the early 2000's it's not really all that surprising that this film became a flop as the mainstream audience isn't going to like and the die hard fans aren't going to like it as outside of the three main leads there are very little of the actual Archie comics characters featured in this film and yet the film somehow become a cult film despite all of the things that it really has going against it so much so that the film got a reappraisal all these later where it got some positive reviews.

It's really easy to see where this film is going as the film really does have alot of really painfully obvious plot points. Even the big third act break up is predictable as it's obvious that the band are going to go there separate ways and come together just in time to foil the bad guy with it being the most obvious way to get them to break up with Josie getting "brainwashed" into believing that she wants to start a solo career and that's really it this is something that you can see coming a mile away as once they introduce the fact that the record company is using subliminal messaging to get teenagers to do what they want to then becomes painfully obvious just how there going to get the band to break up but to the films credit it doesn't stay with it for to long which does work in the films favor as it does allow the film to move past it fairly quickly.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty eight minuets and twenty four seconds. Which is such a long time for this film to have as this film really doesn't have a whole lot their interms of to plot to cover that amount of running time with this film really only having alot of plot fr around one hour ad fifteen minuets with the film giving us around fifteen to twenty minuets worth of scenes that go nowhere and add nothing to the overall plot of the film which is something that really does bog the film as when the film does focus on the plot we do get some entertaining scenes out of it but as the film really doesn't focus on the plot all that often it really means that alot of the films issues that might have been seen as minor issues are now magnified into becoming major issues but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this film having some really child like comedy in it. Which is something that does work as the film is meant to be a satire with every single scene featuring one piece of  very prominent product placement which was both the strangest thing and the funniest joke in the film as it did point out that half of a films budget comes from product placement and yet none of the product placement in this film was payed for by the actual companies which only makes that joke even more funnier in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it's not hard to see why this film didn't make back it's production budget as it really is just that bad of a film but at the same time this film really wasn't made to be a hit film as every thing about this film just screams cult film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Wikipedia , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because all of the images that I got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great Google Images with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
