Wonka Film Review

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory is perhaps one of if not the best well known children's book of all time. With the book already spawning three feature film adaptations and a stage show well now we have yet another new live action film based on one of it's characters with this film one doing something that the 2005 version hinted at doing and that's being a prequel film and so then join me as I review the film that brings a classic character back to the big screen with the film in question being called simply just "Wonka" enjoy.

The plot of this film is young chocolate maker Willy Wonka has to deal with a bunch of rival chocolate makers as he tries to open his first every sweet shop. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being as childlike as you'd both like and expect from this character and yet at the exact same time this films plot is also really enjoyable and really engaging as well with the films plot being full to the brim with childlike wonder and innocence much like that of the plot of the original film as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka , Calah Lane as Noodle and Keegan-Michael Key as The Chief-Of-Police. Also starring in this film is Paterson Joseph as Arthur Slugworth , Little Britain co-creator and star Matt Lucas as Prodnose , Mathew Baynton as Fickelgruber , Sally Hawkins as Willy Wonka's Mother , Rowan Atkinson as Father Julius , Jim Carter as Abacus Crunch , Tom Davis as Bleacher , Olivia Colman as Mrs. Scrubbit , Natasha Rothwell as Piper Benz , Rich Fulcher as Larry Chucklesworth , Rakhee Thakrar as Lottie Bell , Tim Fitzhigham as The Ship Captain and Hugh Grant as Lofty.

Now then interms of what  personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what it really had any right to be. As on paper the acting in this film shouldn't have been that good as nobody would have been expecting good or even great acting from this film and yet that's exactly what we got with all of the cast members in this film turning in some really good performances and alot of that comes down to the fact that the films are a bunch of genuinely really good actors and it's also due to the fact that this films script is just so good that all the films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them really alot more naturally.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Framestore and Lidar Lounge, Now the interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all  honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as while this film does feature some really good looking CGI shots in this film there are also a ton more CGI shots that were obviously done in CGI and standout for all of the wrong reasons because of it which given who is working on this film from an effects standpoint really shouldn't be the case at all even more so when you take into account this films huge budget and yet for some reason those really obvious CGI effects just don't look that good at all.

While this film does feature a take on the Willy Wonka character it is quite obviously set within the continuity of the 1971 film. With the Oompa-Loompa in this film looking exactly like they did in that film and Wonka himself acting alot more like the Gene Wilder version of the character rather then the Johnny Depp version of the character but with that being said tho this film doesn't really need to be made as while seeing this rather fun and enigmatic character again giving him a backstory that's quite clearly defined in this film takes away some of the mystery of the character something which wouldn't have been an issue if this was based on the Johnny Depp version of the character as that version of the character really didn't have such a defined backstory as such creating a prequel film set in that universe would have made more sense.

To give this film some credit it does retain the childlike wonder and sense of imagination that made the original film as magical as it was. However tho with this film being a prequel film that features the exact same characters that appear in the original film we already know how this film is going to end up as we've seen how it ends up thanks to the events of the original film and the original book this isn't just an issue with this film as it's an issue with all prequels as it takes away any kind of suspense that could have been built up all throughout the film and when that happens all your left doing is waiting for the film to end up exactly how you know that it's going to end up and that does make any kind of prequel rather dull to watch and while this film does have alot of the magic that the original film has it also has none of the dark life lessons that made the original and still makes the original stand out in a sea of kids films.

As with the original film this film is also a musical with this film having songs that are written by Neil Hannon. The songs in this film range from OK to good and unlike  the original film which had some really pointless songs in it this one really doesn't with alot of this films songs advancing the story of the film with the best song in this film being "A Hatful Of Dreams" which is a great song to open up the film as it lets you know just who exactly this version of Willy Wonka is without saying a single line of dialog and while the singing in the film especially from Timothée Chalamet isn't that good infact alot of the time he does sound auto tuned that doesn't take away from the fact that the songs in this film are really good and heck even some of the other songs that we the audience have heard before do sound somewhat good in this new take on the original source material.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total; running time of exactly one hour and fifty two minuets and eleven seconds. Which is a bit on the long side for this film to have as when you get right down to it this film really doesn't have alot their interms of plot and story to cover that large amount of running time and as such we do have quite alot of scenes around the middle of the film that aren't really needed which is a shame has one of them features a fun song called "A World Of Your Own" but the sequence as a whole adds nothing to the overall plot of the film despite how good and how fun both the song and sequence are sometimes you do need to cut out stuff even if they are fun sequences even more so if they don't serve either the story or the characters which is the case here as that sequence could be removed entirely and nothing of actual importance to the overall plot of the film would be lost but i will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to usu in his very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of really funny and laugh out loud moments all of which felt like the type of jokes that the original film would have told and while this film does gave some fairly bad jokes in it this film has alot more good jokes in it which does make alot of sense as this film is co-written by the original co-creator of Ghosts Simon Farnaby as such it only makes sense this film would have alot of really jokes in it as one of the writers really does know how to write a good joke in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film is a really good film that will make for a really good film for family's to watch together over the Christmas period it is still a rather really pointless film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and a swell as all of the bad things that are in this film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being Google Images this is because really all of the images that I really got and that are all really currently up and on the great Google Images are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
