Expend4bles Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

There are some films out there that are meant to be taken seriously however alot of the time we just want something that's nothing more then just dumb fun. Which is where the film that i'm about to review for you all today comes in as this whole franchise is just nothing more then just dumb fun and nothing more then that and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that sees the team return with a more mature rating with the film in question being called simply just "Expend4bles" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when The Expendables loose one of their own they go on a revenge mission against an arms dealer who hopes to start World War III. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time it just felt like a rehash of the plot of The Expendables 2 with nothing new or even fresh added to it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is one of this films producers Jason Statham as Lee Christmas and Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross. Also starring in this film is rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Easy Day , Transformers star Megan Fox as Gina , Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen , Tony Jaa as Decha , Iko Uwais as Rahmat , Randy Couture as Toll Road , Jacob Scipio as Galan , Levy Tran as Lash and Andy García as Marsh.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With alot of this films cast members turning in some really good performances which considering who is starring in this film shouldn't be that much of a surprise as alot of this films cast members are a bunch of really good actors and actress and while this films script isn't that good the cast do just enough to elevate it and that does help out with the films performances.

Doing the CGI for this film is PixStone Images , the legends and the greats that are currently over at Millennium FX and fx3x. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad and when I say bad I mean laughably bad as this films CGI is better suited for a late PS3 video game then it is a major motion picture.

To this films credit it does have the guts to actually kill of Sylvester Stallone's  character of Barney Ross. However the film undoes all of that b having Barney show up at the end of the film having faked his death which is a shame as it's his characters death that really does get the film rolling and with Sylvester Stallone himself even saying that this film is meant to be his final appearance in this franchise the film would have been much more better served if his character stayed dead as that would then make the villain of the film look like an actual threat instead of just another guy for Barney to kill at the end of the film.

I will give this film this is does film many of the issues that the third film had by making the film more R rated. However it also ditches some of the likable characters from that film that would have worked well in this film and they could have even have had a bunch of returning characters from the third movie go on to create there own Expendables type of team and have them play apart in the films third act instead of just ditching the new characters for no reason which is something that this film does and it just doesn't work out all that well as it makes the old team look bad and it's the new team that have the potential to carry the franchise forward should there ever come a point when more members of the old ad original team can't come back for future installments.

Speaking of the new team there just bland cardboard cutout characters that really have nothing interesting about them. With Megan Fox really only being in the cast because of name recognition and not because she's a well known action star which is a shame because her character is pretty enjoyable they just needed someone like Milla Jovovich , Gina Carano and even Michelle Rodriguez just somebody who has that action pedigree to really do her character justice as well as kick some serious a*s and that's just not something that Megan Fox has despite her being a really good and a really credible actress.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty three minuets and twenty four seconds. Which is a tad bit on the short side for this film as you really could have gotten alot more out of the whole Barney being dead storyline but these films always have really short running times and if this film did indeed break that tradition then it would have been stretching an already thin story even thinner and that really will make all of the films problems alot more apparent but I will admit that this film really does indeed have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is an action film that means that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actual;y featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which is to be expected from this film as this franchise has always had some really fun and really over the top action and that is something that this film has in spades and it's just as fun to see and just as cool to see as it was in all the other films in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film is indeed a huge step up from The Expendables 3 it's still not as good as the second film as this film relays so much on CGI ad not enough on giving us a good story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good ad as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.
