Godzilla: King Of The Monsters 2019 Film Review
The king of the monsters has many foes each one more deadly and more dangerous then the one that came before it. However he has one arch nemesis and despite having this foe for decades that character has never appeared in an American produced Godzilla film that was until 2019 when many of Godzilla's foes and friends appeared in the movie for the first time in an American produced Godzilla film and so then join me as I review the film that really does see many famous monsters fight it out in an all out brawl with the film in question being called simply just "Godzilla: King Of The Monsters" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when King Ghidorah is unleashed upon the world it's up to Godzilla to beat him and safe the world once and for all. Now then inters of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being dumb but enjoyably dumb and also being really entertaining and when it wants to be really engaging as well even if the plot is a bit on thinner side of thins in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Kyle Chandler as Dr. Mark Russell , Vera Farmiga as Dr. Emma Russell and Millie Bobby Brown as Madison Russell. Also starring in this film is Bradley Whitford as Dr. Rick Stanton , Sally Hawkins as Dr. Vivienne Graham , Charles Dance as Alan Jonah , Thomas Middleditch as Sam Coleman , Aisha Hinds as Colonel Diane Foster , O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Jackson Barnes , David Strathairn as Admiral William Stenz , Zhang Ziyi as Dr. Ilene Chen and Dr. Ling and Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ishirō Serizawa.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what it really had right to be. As nobody expects good or even great acting from a Godzilla as such it really does come as a surprise when we see a Godzilla movie that has some really good acting in it which shouldn't really come as a surprise to absolutely anybody whatsoever as this films cast are a bunch f really good actors and actresses.
Doing the CGI for this film are Moving Picture Company , Rodeo FX , Double Negative , Method Studios , Ollin VFX , Raynault VFX , Savage Visual Effects and Pix Entertainment. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with all of this films CGI effects looking really good and while we do get one or two dodgy looking effects those are in the minority and don't represent the majority.
One of the many things that the live action 2014 American Godzilla film got alot of hate was for it focusing far to much on the human characters and while that does have it's upsides it's not something that you want in a Godzilla film. Thankfully tho this film doesn't focus all that much on it's human characters with Godzilla himself getting more of the films focus which is as it should be as that's who the people coming to see this film want to see they want to see Godzilla and they want to see him fighting other monsters but what they don't want is for the film to cut away from the action like what happend in the 2014 film.
While the human characters aren't the main focus they are still at the heart of this very film which is something that I really liked. As this films human characters weren't that bad granted they were nothing special but at the same time they aren't the worst human characters in the Godzilla franchise and having them be at the heart of the film does make alot of sense as these human characters are survivors of the previous film and so we need to understand why they don't like Godzilla and having them be at the centre of this film does allow them to have a character arc where they learn to trust Godzilla and not hate him.
There are a few things that I didn't like about this film like fr example Mothra just straight up disappears from the film for a large portion of the films running time. As such when she does reappear I wouldn't blame anyone if they forgot that she was even a character in this movie as she's gone of that long with the other thing that I hatred about this film was this films human villain who isn't given a motivation for him being the way that he is and as such he just comes across as being evil just for the sake of being evil which is even more of an issue when you take into account that the rest of this films human cast are given reasons for them being the way that they are thus making them more fully rounded characters and so the fact that the same thing wasn't done for the human villain just makes the makers of this film seem lazy as this something that could and should have been fixed at this films scripting stage.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and eleven minuets and forty two seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for a Monsterverse film but for a Godzilla film is still a bit on the long side which does become a major issue when you take into account that this film really doesn't have enough their of either plot or story to cover that large amount of running time and while having a longer running time does allow for the human characters to become more fleshed out i'd rather have a shorter film that has more then enough plot to cover it's longer running time then have a longer film that's stretching it's already really thin story even thinner but I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really cool. With this film having alot of really cool moments in it's action scenes with perhaps the best fight in the whole entire movie being the tag team match between Godzilla and Mothra as they take on King Ghidorah and Rodan which is just so cool to see in this movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this film is so much more fun to watch then the 2014 Godzilla film with this film fixing the major issue of that film with this film, being a film that only die hard Godzilla fans will love in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Godzilla fandom wiki page , Wikizilla and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Wikizilla since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Wikizilla are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
