The Lizzie McGuire Movie Film Review
It's not uncommon for a successful TV show to get it's own movie spin off heck alot of the Disney Channel Original Movie line up is made up of movie spin off of popular Disney Channel TV shows. However there are always a few spin offs that get a theatrical release with this film being one of them and so then join me as I review the film that really would have been alot more better of as a Disney Channel Original Movie with the film in question being called simply just "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" enjoy.
The plot of the film is Lizzie and her class go on a trip to Rome where Lizzie is mistaken for an Italian pop star. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK at best since it is a plot that's worthy of being in a movie but at the same time it's also the kind of plot that you'd expect to find in an early to mid 2000's Disney Channel film and nothing more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Hilary Duff as Elizabeth "Lizzie" McGuire and Isabella Parigi and Adam Lamberg as David "Gordo" Gordon. Also starring in this film is Robert Carradine as Samuel "Sam" McGuire , Hallie Todd as Joanne "Jo" McGuire , Jake Thomas as Matthew "Matt" McGuire , Yani Gellman as Paolo Valisari , Family Guy and Catwoman star Alex Borstein as Ms. Angela Ungermeyer , Brendan Kelly as Sergei , Ashlie Brillault as Katherine "Kate" Sanders and Clayton Snyder as Ethan Craft.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then im all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast members doing their best to make this films script work for them the issue is tho is that this films script just isn't that good as it doesn't give the characters any kind of personality trait and so the cast can;t really turn in a good performance because of the fact that this films script just won't allow for it.
This film is of course a spin off of the show Lizzie McGuire which ran on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004 over the course of two seasons. The show took a more realistic approach to it's storytelling with it's stories mostly being about thins that tween girls would be going through during that time period this film however does away with all of that realism which just goes to show that the writers of this movie never watched an episode of the show because if they did then they'd realise that this kind of story just wouldn't fit well with this franchise.
To say that the drama in this film was forced would be a huge understatement because every single bit of drama in this film is not even hinted at being a possibility. As such when the film has these more dramatic moments they come out of nowhere which shouldn't be the case as you very easily could have fixed this just by having scenes with the Paolo showing signs that he's the bad guy and with scenes with the Gordo character showing how far he's willing to go to help Lizzie out then when we get to this films more dramatic moments they would not feel more natural and organic but they would also feel earned as well.
This film cost seventeen million American dollars to make and it doesn't look like it at all as this film looks cheap. Which is why it would have been better as a Disney Channel Original Movie and not a theatrically released movie as alot of the Disney Channel Original Movies from around this same time period look like how this movie looks but for some strange reason Disney thought that this film was worthy of being put out on the big screen and so we are left with a very cheap looking film that cost the cost the company more money then what was truly needed to make this film when they could have saved money by releasing it as Disney Channel Original Movie and making this movie for at the vest least five million American dollars.
To this films credit it is such a product of the time that it's in all honesty worth seeing just so you can see just how much of a product of the time it really is. As everything that's in this film from the technology used in the film to the actual writing of the film was only something that you'd see in an early 2000's film and to this movies credit it does have some fun with it like the little brother somehow being able to record his big sister early on in the movie despite there being no camera on the toy car that he's using to get to her bedroom which does add a slightly goofy and camp tone to the film which was rather enjoyable.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty three minuets and fifty one seconds. Which again to this movies credit is pretty much that exact running time that you'd expect this movie to have but tho the issue is tho for large portions of the film nothing is happening to advance the thinly drawn out plot and so for alot of the films running time your just left watching the characters just go about their day to day lives and there's only so long you can watch that before it starts to get boring which for this film is quite quickly but again to this films credit it does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that good. As there where alot of really bad jokes in this film but when this film does tell a good joke you really do notice and that makes th bad jokes even more worse because you know that they can tell a decent joke in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall if your like me and you grew up with the Lizzie McGuire TV show then you might like this movie but it's movie that really hasn't aged all that well at all and is just an average film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being obviously Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
