Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

DCEU fans one of the final films in this current DCEU has just been released and well following the trend of these movies that are set within this continuity it's so far getting pretty bad Rotten Tomatoes scores. However tho just because the scores of Rotten Tomatoes are bad doesn't mean that the movie itself is bad and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that might mark the end of one character in the DCEU with the film in question being called simply just "Shazam! Fury Of The Gods" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when The Wizard's staff is stolen it's up to Billy and his family to stop the thiefs before the world is destroyed for good. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bod with this films plot not really advancing the story set up in the first film but still being a rather enjoyable and entertaining story none  the less in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Asher Angel as Billy Batson , Zachary Levi as Superhero Billy and Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman. Also starring in this film is Adam Brody as Superhero Freddy , Rachel Zegler as Anthea , Ian Chen as Eugene Choi , Ross Butler as Superhero Eugene , Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña , D.J. Cotrona as Superhero Pedro , Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield , Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley , Meagan Good as Superhero Darla , Lucy Liu as Kalypso , Djimon Hounsou as Shazam , Dame Helen Mirren as Hespera , Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez and Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films cast quite clearly trying to make this films script work for them the issue is tho is that this films script just isn't that good and that means that the films cast can;t turn in that good of a performance because of the fact that the script just won't allow for it to happen.

Doing the CGI for this film is Double Negative , OPSIS , RISE Visual Effects Studios , Scanline VFX and Wētā FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and while yes there are a few very dodgy looking projection shots in this film those dont bring down the overall very high quality of this films CGI.

A few short days ago Warner Bros. Pictures did a very stupid thing and that's release a TV spot that spoils this films big cameo. With that cameo being the return of Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman however she wasn't the only returning character to make a cameo in this film as we also get cameos from Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt , Steve Agee as John Economos and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana with all three appearing in this films mid-credits and post credits scene respectively.

With Diana appearing twice in this movie once in a dream sequence which I think is a call back to the joke at the end of the first movie and once again at the end of the movie where we actually get to see her face. I do like that she does appear in this movie since her appearance in this movie does somewhat make sense since she appears to basically bring Billy back from the dead by mending The Wizards staff which since she's a god she's able to do but sadly that's all she does in this film which is a shame because the scene in which we get to see her face is a rather really fun and funny scene.

There are some issues that I have with this film with this film making Freddie more of the main character then Billy which would be fine if the move was named Freddie but it's not it;s instead named after Billy's superhero alter ego and so having Billy who we barely see outside of his superhero form basically be a side character in his own movie just doesn't work. The other thing that I really didn't like is the fact that this films villains feel really very underdeveloped which is a shame because there apparently characters who didn't appear in the comics and so they really could have gone all in with these characters and yet they don't they don;t even give the villains in this film much in the way of personalities either which just makes them really just all blend into one another.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and forty two seconds. Which i'm in two minds about since with a longer storyline the villains could have been fleshed out alot more then what they were but tho if this film had a longer running time it would only serve to enhance all of the films problems alot more then what they already are but tho I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing with the film really just flying by.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However tho this films action just isn't as fun as the action in the first film since we don't get to see alot of action scenes with the whole family fully powered up which means that this films action scenes lack alot of the same energy and comedy that was in the action scenes of the first film an that makes this films action scenes alot more boring then what they really should be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is a huge comedown from how good the first film was which is a shame because on paper this film should have worked and yet for some strange and rather unknown reason it just doesn't in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 .5 out of 10 from me.
