John Wick: Chapter 4 Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

 

No franchise can go on forever since audiences that grew up with it in the first place grow up and possibly eventually lose interesting and so most franchises end. I say this because of the fact that this film is being billed as the final film in the main line John Wick franchise and well since i've only seen one John Wick movie I thought that i'd check out this film and so then join me as I review the film that might be the end of the main line John Wick films for the time being with the film in question being called simply just "John Wick: Chapter 4" enjoy.

The plot of this film is John Wick finds himself on the run from The High Table and must fight to earn back his freedom. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being very entertaining in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Keanu Reeves as Jonathan "John" Wick , Donnie Yen as Caine and Bill Skarsgård as The Marquis Vincent De Gramont. Also starring in this film is Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King , Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu Koji , Shamier Anderson as The Tracker / Mr. Nobody , the late Lance Reddick as Charon , Rina Sawayama as Akira , Scott Adkins as Killa , Clancy Brown as The Harbinger , Marko Zaror as Chidi , George Georgiou as The Elder , Natalia Tena as Katia and Ian McShane as Winston Scott.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast members both new and returning turning in some really good performances and really doing their absolute best to make this films really fairly average script work well enough for them.

The new characters in this film barring one I didn't really find to be all that interesting or even entertaining in the slightest. Which is a shame because it means that barring that one character we're stuck just watching a bunch of rather uninteresting characters and while I can't say if the first and second films have interesting characters from what I can remember about the third film having rather uninteresting seems does seem to be n line with this franchise it's just a shame that this film continues with that trend then.

Like with Star Wars: The Force Awakens this film kills of it's main character with John Wick himself being killed of in this films third act. This was something that truly did take me by surprise as it's not something that you expect to see in an action film let alone an action franchise and to see it done here was something that was truly shocking to me even more so when you take into account that it now makes this film and at least the last two films more of a tragedy as well as them being straight up action movies as well.

For those of you wondering no a dog doesn't die in this film which was something that I really liked since it's John Wick himself who saves the dogs life. Which makes it come full circle since one of the very things that I know about the franchise is the fact that he couldn't save his own dogs life and so then to see him save the life of another persons dog was only fitting and rather rightfully it's treated as some character development since the dog belongs to The Tracker / Mr. Nobody who then goes from wanting to kill John to wanting to protect him.

This film is being billed as the final film in the main John Wick franchise for now and with that in mind the film really doesn't feel like a finale. As it doesn't do anything that a good finale should do since there's no sense of finality in this film at all and the plot apart film tying up the loose plot thread from Chapter 3 doesn't tie up any of other films plot lines at least from what I could tell both of which are things that a final film should since by not doing so your getting your audiences hope up that they'll be another sequel film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and forty one minuets and four seconds. Which is so much longer then what this film really needed to be since at most this film should have been at the very least two hours long but by adding on those extra forty plus minuets your stretching what is an already thin story even thinner and that is something that really does affect the overall pacing of the film since there are scenes in this movie that just drag on and on and are there just to pad the films running time and nothing more then that.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the films best action sequence being either the final actin sequence that takes place all over Paris France or there's an action sequence around the halfway point that is for the most part done in one long shot which is just so cool to look at in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film does go out with a bang it's what leads you up to that final big bang that I can see and have seen people having a huge issue with and it's one that very sadly effects this film in a negative way in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thing that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a really grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.
