Creed III Film Review
The Rocky franchise is the longest going sports drama film franchise in the world with the franchise spawning a grand total of nine films. Heck the franchise was so successful that two now three of those nine films are spin off films with the third spin off film now being released and well since i've seen every single one of these Creed movies you just knew that I have to check this one the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I review that is the first film not to star franchise star and creator Sylvester Stallone with the film in question being called simply just "Creed III" enjoy.
The plot of this film is Donnie faces a new threat one which harkens back to his past and one that threatens his very future. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad altho I will admit that the plot of the first film was better since that plot was fresh and new where as this film just feels like it's trying to be fresh and new but is instead relying to hard on old sports movie cliches.
Starring in this film is this films producer and director Michael B. Jordan as Adonis "Donnie" Creed and Tessa Thompson as Bianca Taylor. Also starring in this film is Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and Loki star Jonathan Majors as Damian "Dame" Anderson , Wood Harris as Tony "Little Duke" Evers , Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago , Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne Creed and Mila Davis-Kent as Amara Creed.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which does seem to be a very common thing with all of the things that i've reviewed recently but I feel that is true even more so here since this films script is really good and that really does help since the films script gives all of the cast alot to work with interms of what their characters respective personalities are.
Believe it or not this is the first film since 2006's Rocky Balboa not to have any legacy characters in it whatsoever and is the first film in the entire franchise not to feature the Rocky Balboa character in the film at all. Which i'm kind of in two minds about since on the one hand it does allow the film an this spin off franchise to stand on it's own and to try and step out of Rocky's shadow but at the same time the Ricky Balboa character is so engraved even in this spin off series that to have him not be in this fim does seem kind of weird.
Without giving anything away this film does give a revelation which I admit I didn't see coming but at the same time it's something that doesn't make sense either. As this was something that wasn't even hinted at in any of the previous two films which for a twist that's this big and this important to the character I feel should have been the case and I will admit that it was nice to get a bit more backstory on Donnie and seeing what his life was like prior to the events of Creed which only served to add to his character.
Again without giving anything this film does copy a plot point from one of the later Rocky sequels however it doesn't work in this film. Since in the Rocky film that this plot point first appears in the character that it happend to was one that we'd grown to like and had spent at the very least two films with and getting to know this one character where as in this film it happens to a character who has only ever appeared in this film and is a character that we don't really know or care about for that matter and so the plot point just doesn't work because the audience just don't have that same connection that we had to the character that this plot point first happened to in one of the more later Rocky sequels which is a shame because it is a good plot point.
As this was his directorial debut I have to say that Michael B. Jordan made the best film that he could have made. Since it's quite clear to me that he's the type of director who knows how to get the best performances possible from his cast but at the same time just based of off this one film it appears like he doesn't have any style of his own and is just coping what he saw other directors doing on their films and TV shows but he has made a pretty good film which for his directorial debut isn't that bad since nobody expects you to know you to knock it out of the park the first time around.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty minuets ad thirty eights seconds. Which for this film is bit on the short side since you very easily could have stretched this films plot to be well over two hours long which in this case would have benefited the film as it would have allowed you to develop the hatred between Donnie and Damian "Dame" Anderson as well as set up the relationship between Donnie and his daughter Amara Creed bot of which are key to making this film work and both of which feel very underdeveloped and under cooked.
So now then since this is a drama that means that I have to actually talk about the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films drama coming from being character driven drama and so for the most part it is something that you could believe these characters doing but at the same time there is some drama between Donnie and his adoptive mother that just didn't work for me and was something that would have been better of is it wasn't included in this film whatsoever in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this was a really good film that's quite easily better then Creed II but at the same time tho the best film in this whole spin off franchise thus far is still quite easily Creed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Rocky fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images just simply due to the fact that alot of the images that are on Google Images are all fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition.
