Scooby-Doo 2002 Film Review

Writer and director James Gunn is now a big shot in Hollywood but he wasn't always a Hollywood big shot. In fact one of his earliest writing credits is from thee Scooby-Doo franchise with this film celebrating it's twentieth anniversary as such I thought that now was the right time to take a look at this film and so then join me as I review the film that resurrected the Scooby-Doo franchise with the film in question being called simply just "Scooby-Doo" enjoy.

The plot of this film is two years after Mystery Inc have broken up each member of the gang is invited t an island to solve a mystery that threatens to engulf the entire world. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good since this films plot is more about being a parody of Scooby-Doo then it is being an accurate representation of the Scooby-Doo franchise and so this films plot can get away with being really pretty campy in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred Jones , Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne Blake and Matthew Lillard as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. Also starring in this film is Linda Cardellini as Velma Dinkley , Neil Fanning as The Voice Of Scooby-Doo , Scott Innes as The Voice Of Scrappy-Doo , J.P. Manoux as The Voice Of Scrappy Rex , Rowan Atkinson as Emile Mondavarious , Miguel A. Nunez Jr. as Voodoo Maestro , Isla Fisher as Mary Jane , Sam Greco as Zarkos , Steven Grieves as N'Goo Tuana , Kristian Schmid as Brad and Michala Banas as Carol.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With actor Matthew Lillard being the true performer of this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Doing the CGI for this film is Giant Killer Robots , Photon VFX , Pacific Title and Art Studio , Nickelodeon Digital Animation Studios and Rhythm & Hues Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad but I will admit that the effects on Scooby-Doo himself even for the time look really pretty good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

To me this film is all about friendship since we see the gang struggle to keep their friendship alive and the friendship between Shaggy and Scooby-Doo drives the films third act. This makes Shaggy and Scooby-Doo the co-lead characters since it's them that grow and learn and heck it's them that we spend the most amount of time with and I have t admit that I really did like this theme of friendship since it was something that we hadn't seen in the franchise at this point in time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This film was meant to be an R rated parody or spoof of the franchise but Warner Bros Pictures demanded that writer James Gunn turn his PG-13 rated script into something more family friendly. Which was a rather understandable mistake since it's when the film becomes a parody of the franchise that the film really does shine since it takes those familiar elements from the Scooby-Doo franchise and puts a new spin on them but it's when the film becomes more family friendly that it looses that special something that it has when it becomes more of a parody of the Scooby-Doo franchise in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Where this film falls apart is in it's mystery since it's mystery angle is pretty badly done since they leave you no clues. So you can't work out for yourself who the main villain is and this is very sadly something that alot of the other Scooby-Doo movies don't care to fix and while there is some effort put into this mystery if you don't allow the audience to work it out for themselves then you rob your audience of the chance to connect to this movies mystery and plot in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty six minuets and thirty four seconds. Which I have to admit is a bit a short running time and as such the films subplot of the gang breaking up and getting back together again can't be fully explored because of the fact that the film now has to rush along to it's next plot point in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad for the most part. Since there are some jokes that were pretty dated even back in 2002 and have only gotten worse over the decades since this films release in 2002 in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film really isn't that bad of a film if you take it as a parody of the Scooby-Doo franchise but if you take it as a straight forward Scooby-Doo adventure then you might have alot of problems with it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film which means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very film from IMP Awards . Com , the official Scooby-Doo fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all really fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
