The League Of Gentlemen's Apocalypse Film Review
It's becoming rather uncommon for sitcoms to get a film adaptation however it was once a very common affair. However out of all of the sitcom to film adaptations that are out their there's always one that people seem to forget about and that's the film that i'm going to be talking about today and so then join me as I review the film that actually did something fresh and creative with the film in question being called simply just "The League Of Gentlemen's Apocalypse" enjoy.
The plot of this film is the residents of Royston Vasey realise that they are fictional characters and so then to extend their own existence and prevent the apocalypse they head into or world. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really fresh and was really good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is co-writer , producer and co-creator Mark Gatiss as himself / Matthew Chinnery / Hilary Briss / Mickey / Sir Nicholas Sheet-Lightning. Also starring in this film is co-writer , producer and co-creator Steve Pemberton as himself / Tubbs / Pauline / Herr Lipp / Lemuel Blizzard , co-writer , producer and co-creator Reece Shearsmith as himself / Edward / Papa Lazarou / Geoff / Bernice / Father Halfhearte / Red Devil , Michael Sheen as Jeremy Dyson , Emily Woof as Lindsay , Danielle Tilley as Dahlia , Bruno Langley as Damon , Alan Morrissey as Johnny , Liana O'Cleirigh as Claire , the late Dame Victoria Wood as Queen Mary II and David Warner as Dr. Erasmus Pea.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films main cast members turning in some really good performances in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film is of course based upon the nineteen ninety nine British comedy TV series The League Of Gentlemen. As somebody who has seen the more recent episodes of this show I can confirm that this film is pretty much a good representation of what the show is like because just like this film the show is filled to the brim with dark humor and is just straight up weird which is also true for this very film as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film does something that to my knowledge no comedy adaptation has ever done and that's bring the fictional characters into the real world. This is such a good idea because it opens it up to a whole new set of jokes that you couldn't possibly do in the show and on top of all of that it gives us new character duo's that we might not get in the show which is always a very good thing indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
I will admit tho that this film really doesn't take full advantage of these characters being in the real world. Since the characters do barely any funny things when they are in the real world and they do nothing that's that interesting when these characters are in the real world all of which are things that you should be doing when you introduce this freaking cool concept in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
This film does try to set to set up three new characters however it fails to do so as all four characters don't have that many scenes in the film. Which as such means that all three characters can't be fully developed as the film already has a bunch of characters all of who are already set up and established thanks to the TV show which is a shame because these three characters could have been some very funny characters indeed if only they were fully developed characters and not just some two one dimensional characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty seven minuets and forty two seconds. Which is a bit of an issue for me personally since even tho this film does gave more then enough story to cover that running time it also means that this films four new characters can't be fully developed as this film has to rush along to it's next plot point and as such this film should have at the very least have been one hour and forty minuets in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
So now then since this film is a comedy film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film carrying over the shows signature style of dark comedy which is really freaking funny in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall if you ever wanted to get into the The League Of Gentlemen TV show then you really can't go wrong with starting out with this film since like I said this film is a perfect representation of what the show is like in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
