Superman 2 Film Review

Superman fans I make it no secret that my all time favorite comic book movie is 1978's Superman: The Movie. Even tho I could watch that film a dozen times per day and still not get bored by it there's one cut of one film that i've barely seen and that's the film that i'm going to be reviewing for all today and so then join me as I review the film that has quite the troubled production with the film in question being called simply just "Superman 2" enjoy.

The plot of this film after three Kryptonian supervillains are released from the Phantom Zone it's up to Superman to defeat them all before they take over the Earth. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the exact same time tho this films plot quite clearly isn't as good as the first films plot tho in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor , Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent / Superman and Ned Beatty as Otis. Also starring in this film is Jackie Cooper as Perry White , Sarah Douglas as Ursa , Margot Kidder as Lois Lane , Jack O'Halloran as Non , Valerie Perrine as Eve Teschmacher , Susannah York as Lara , Clifton James as The Sheriff , E.G. Marshall as The President Of The United States , Marc McClure as Jimmy Olsen and Terence Stamp as General Zod.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given how troubled this films production was is truly something remarkable indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This films turns Non someone who was quite intimidating in the first film into a goofy character with him basically being the comic relief villain. Which would be fine if the first film portrayed him that way but the first film portrayed him as someone who is the muscle of this group of villains and so it's incredibly to see this film suddenly change that freaking around in my freaking opinions anyways /  at least.

Any die hard Superman whose worth their sault will know about the controversary surrounding this film. Since the director of the first film was fired from this film even tho this film was 75% completed by the time the first film came out and so then years later after a fan campaign Warner Bros and DC decided to release the far superior cut of this film which many people myself included think is the better cut of the film and is easily on par with the first freaking film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Part of what makes the Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut so much better then this film is the fact that it feels more like a continuation of the first film. With this film pretty much discontinuing any and all plotlines that the first film set up and so instead of feeling like a sequel to the first film it feels more like another version of the Superman story that just got called Superman 2 for marketing purposes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This films more goofy nature also extends to it's climax since when Non suddenly finds out that he can now no longer fly they play a really goofy sounding sound effect over his death. Which is just jarring since we are in the middle of this really triumphant scene and yet one of the key villains is getting a really goofy sound effect to accompany there fairly epic defeat I get that the first film also had alot of goofier moments in it as well but they were so few and far between and never came at the expense of creating a great cinematic moment in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then I really cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films exact grand total running time even was but I do know that for a fact that this film had / had an exact grand total running time of roughly two hours and seven minuets. Which is oddly enough the right amount of time for this cut of the film to last since this cut of the film is pretty much an action comedy and so there's really no need to for this film to last anywhere even near two hours and thirty minuets in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then this film is an action film after all and that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which shouldn't be a surprise since Richard Donner basically shot all of this films action sequences with Richard Lester only adding some unneeded comedy to those action sequences which does bring down the over all quality of the action in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this theatrical cut of the film is quite easily the worse cut of Superman 2 since it lacks any of heart and soul that made the first film so likable in the first place in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review the official Superman fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this very / particular / exact film being obviously Google Images since alot of the images that are from this film and that are currently still indeed up on Google Images are all fairly freaking high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
