Green Lantern 2011 Film Review

 

DC fans just like there have been alot of good and sometimes even great DC movies there have also been alot of bad DC movies. With perhaps one of the best examples of that being the film that i'm about to review for you all today since this film is so bad that it caused it's entire up and coming cinematic universe to be cancelled before it even got started so then join as I review the film that became the butt of a lot of jokes in the Deadpool movies with the film in question being called simply just "Green Lantern" enjoy.

The plot of this film is pilot Hal Jordan is tasked with defending the earth when an alien creature called Parallax breaks out of his prison and comes looking to destroy the Earth once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but it wasn't all that good either since it's just the same recycled plotline that you'd see in any mid 2000's bad comic book movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Starring in this film is Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern , Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond. Also starring in this film is Mark Strong as Thaal Sinestro , Angela Bassett as Amanda Waller , Tim Robbins as Robert Hammond , Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur , Geoffrey Rush as The Voice Of Tomar-Re , Michael Clarke Duncan as The Voice Of Kilowog , Taika Waititi as Thomas Kalmaku and Clancy Brown as The Voice Of Parallax.

Noe then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which is more due to the quality of this films actors and actresses rather then the quality of this films script since this films script is just soo bad and that really does hurt the overall quality of the performances in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , Peerless Camera Company , Rising Sun Pictures , Pixomondo , Digiscope , Hydraulx , BUF , Pixel Playground , Moving Picture Company and Atmosphere Visual Effects. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was OK at best with this film containing alot of unneeded CGI which make the film look more look like an animated film instead of a live action film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then with the added benefit of hindsight this film really shouldn't have had a post credits scene since this film is just so bad that nobody would want to see a sequel to it. Heck this film is so bad that star Ryan Reynolds admitted to being glad that the film bombed at the box office so that he wouldn't have to suit up for anymore sequels what makes this even worse is that this film had a really talented director in Martin Campbell who we all know can make some really good films but here he just didn't bother to even show up and that really does show in this films final product in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Making Sinestro a good guy in this film could have worked if they played the long game and very slowly showed his decent into evil. Instead it gets stuck into a post credits scene and so it not only comes out of nowhere but it also adds nothing to the actual plot of the film and so it makes this sudden change seem meaningless when Sinestro turning evil should be a very meaningful thing since Sinestro helped to train Hal Jordan and so we audience should be able to feel shocked when he did indeed turn evil in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

This film does have a rather forgettable villain in Parallax who here is portrayed as a giant space cloud which just goes to show you how dated this film is. Since Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer did the exact same thing with Galactus and just like with that film that design doesn't work well for this film either since it makes the villain a lot less threatening and a lot more laughable and it also makes your effects team seem lazy since they couldn't be bothered to come up with a cool looking design for this villain in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then while I cannot remember whatever this films exact grand total running time was I do know that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and forty nine minuets. Which is a bit a short running time since this film was meant to kick start it's own cinematic universe this film really should have been at the very least two and a half hours long just because you have to set up this world and it's rules and as well as tell a good story and you just can't do all of that with this films current running time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.  

So now then since this film is an action film after all that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well the in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Heck i'd even go as far as to say that this films action was the best part about this film which given just how bad the rest of this film is isn't that high of a bar to reach in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film and Catwoman are the worst modern DC films and heck i'm ashamed to admit that I own a copy of this film on DVD because yeah this film is that freaking bad in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this review and that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.
