Doctor Strange 2016 Film Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen we are but just a week away from the release of the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such I thought i'd take a look back at the first film to feature the Doctor Strange character simply because I don't really see this film being talked about all that much and so then join me as I review the film that introduced the world to Benedict Cumberbatch's bad American accent with the film in question being called simply just "Doctor Strange" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Dr. Steven Strange goes looking for a temple called Kamar-Taj to heal his damaged hands and while there he discovers a mystical threat to our world that only he can stop from happening. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot of this film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being genuinely quite engaging in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange and as Dormammu and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo. Also starring in this film is Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer , Benedict Wong as Wong , Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West , Benjamin Bratt as Jonathan Pangborn , Scott Adkins as Lucian , Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius , Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Amy Landecker as Doctor Bruner.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast turning some really good performances altho I will be very much happy to admit that the accent that Benedict Cumberbatch puts on for this film is slightly distracting just due to how bad of an accent it is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Doing the CGI for this film is Animal Logic , Animatrik Film Design , Base FX , Crafty Apes , Exceptional Minds , Framestore , Industrial Light & Magic , Lola Visual Effects , Luma Pictures , Method Studios , Perception , RISE Visual Effects Studios , Secret Lab , and Technicolor Creative Services VFX. Now then in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films CGI holding up really well which is always going to be a very good thing indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film actually isn't the first film to feature Doctor Strange heck it's not even the second it's the third with the very first film to feature Doctor Strange being the 1978 TV film of the same name. From what I can gather the only thing that this film and the TV film have in common with each other a few characters and that's really it and from what i've read about the 1978 TV film that might be a very good thing indeed in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

From what I can gather this film and the 2007 animated film Doctor Strange do have some very similar plot beats. So this makes me wonder if this film took some of it's inspiration from that film which in all honesty wouldn't be that bad of an idea since the 2007 film isn't very well known and while I can't which film did those beats better I can say that this film handled those plot beats really well which was something that I in all honesty thought was going to be the case since Marvel have handled some really key plot points in there feature films really well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Just like with alot of Marvel and alot of Marvel Cinematic Universe films this film really doesn't have that great of a villain. Since it's not only very hard to tell who the main villain even is but they have no motive and so who ever this films main villain is just comes across as being evil purely for the sake of being evil and that just doesn't make them an interesting character since we get to find nothing about either villain and nor does either villain get to show of whatever there personality even is and as such they both just across as being both bland and forgettable villain characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty four minuets and fifty eight seconds. Which is a bit on the short side for this kind of film but at the exact same time it is also the standard running time for any Marvel Cinematic Universe film but I would have liked it if this film was at the very least two and a half hours long since it would have allowed for a bit more character development and it would have allowed this films villains to be a bit more defined as characters as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then sine this film is an action film after all that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film action and visuals being quite inventive which made both the action and visuals all the more entertaining to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is a very entertaining film to watch and is very visually stunning to look at but it's also a film that's quite clearly got alot of faults with that bad American accent being among them in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.
