Spaceballs Film Review

 

Film fans i'm a huge Star Wars fan and yet i've never seen that many of the films that have spoofed Star Wars. Well that changes right now since as of right now i'm currently watching what many consider to be the best spoof of Star Wars and in all honesty I really cannot believe that it's taken me this long to see this film because this film is so good and this film is so freaking funny and so join me as I review the classic Star Wars film that is a joy and is very entertaining to watch with the film itself being called simply just "Spaceballs" enjoy.

Th plot of this film is an evil race called Spaceballs wants fresh air and so in order to get this fresh air they plan on stealing it from a planet called Druidia and so it's up to a rag tag group of heroes to save Druidia before it's far to late. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this film in all honesty the plot of this film is just as ridiculous as you want it to be and I honestly love this film for how ridiculous the plot of this film well and truly is. 

Starring in this film is this film's writer , director and producer the great Mel Brooks as President Skroob and Yogurt and the late and most certainly great John Candy as Barf. Also starring in this film is Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet , Bill Pullman as Lone Starr , Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa , Dick Van Patten as King Roland , George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz , Michael Winslow as Radar Technician and Joan Rivers as the Voice of Dot Matrix.

In terms of what I personally thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film is really freaking good. With all of the actors that are starring / appearing in this film giving some really good and more importantly some really funny performances and heck i really cannot find a single bad performance in this film because everyone is just so good at playing their respective characters and it's clear as day that everyone is having a blast making this film and that really does shine through in all of the performances that are in this film.

Now people often think that this film was the first film to spoof Star Wars well those people would be wrong because this film is infact the second film to spoof Star Wars. With the first Star Wars spoof film being released just eighteen months after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope and was called simply just Hardware Wars however unlike Spaceballs Hardware Wars was pretty much made for people who were / are die hard fans of Star Wars where as Spaceballs is / was made for the more casual fan of Star Wars.

This film really does have some of the greatest comedy characters ever in my opinion since every character that's in this film is so well written and more importantly every character that's in this film is so freaking funny and memorable. With perhaps the most memorable character being Lord Dark Helmet who is just such a good character and every single scene that Lord Dark Helmet was in was pure gold in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then i've been pretty positive about this film so far but there are a few things that I didn't like about this film with the first one being in the opening scene where the ship is taking forever to cross the screen they don't really anything to that joke like how funny would it have been if we saw someone outside of the ship cleaning the ships windows. The other thing that I didn't like about this film is the fact that some of the model shots for this film just look terrible and cheap which might be part of the joke but if there not part of the joke then I have to wonder why such poor quality and cheap looking models were OK'd and then used in this film because it honestly does lower down the quality of the film as a whole in my opinion anyways / at least.

This film is honestly very well written with all of this films characters being like I just said very well written and the plot of this film being in all honesty really freaking good. This is something that modern parody films simply don't do since most modern parody films make it painfully obvious whatever it is that they are parodying and thus they don't really care about setting up a good joke or care about the characters nor do  most modern parody films care about the actual plot of whatever film that they are currently making and thus those modern parody films won't be remembered for very long if at all but whereas a film like Spaceballs will be remembered for a very , very  long time but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

This film has a running time of one hour and thirty six minuets and twelve seconds which I feel is the perfect running time for this film. Simply because it means that the film has focus on it's very ridiculous plot and can focus on setting up jokes instead of just telling the punch line to a joke without actually setting up the joke in question plus it really does help that the pacing of this film is in my opinion at least really freaking good with no scene / sequence lasting to long or no scene / sequence lasting to short.

Now then boys and girls since this film is a comedy film after all that does infact mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's featured / resented to us in the actual film itself and well if i'm being really freaking honest here boys and girls this film is really freaking funny. Since every joke in this film got a huge laugh out of me and this film did something that so few comedy films are able to do and that's make me laugh out loud and that's something that this film did not once , not twice but on several occasions because that's how funny the jokes and how funny this film really freaking is but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

Overall if you haven't seen this film already I have to wonder what the heck are you even waiting for you should go and watch this film right freaking now because this film is that darn / damn good in my opinion anyways / at least. Now then since i've talked about both of the good and as well as being both of the bad things that are in this film in this very review that means that this film gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
