Ghostbusters II Film Review

Ghostbusters fans it's been about seven or possibly even eight months since I reviewed the first Ghostbusters movie and as such I thought that it was about time that I take a look at the sequel. I will very fully admit that i've not seen this film that much and well I can kind of see why since yeah this film isn't as good as the first film and so join me as I review the film that is the first sequel in the Ghostbusters film franchise / series with the the film in question being called simply just "Ghostbusters II" enjoy.

The plot of this film is five years after the first film the Ghostbusters discover a river of slime that runs of negative energy hidden underneath New York and they have to find out what the slime has to do with a painting of an evil tyrant and sorcerer named Vigo and so the Ghostbusters have until midnight on New Years to solve this riddle before freaking to late. Now then in terms of what I thought about the plot of this film in all honesty I thought that the plot of this film was at best decent to average / OK which for a Ghostbusters movie really isn't good enough in my opinion anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Bill Murray as Peter Venkman and this films co-writer Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz. Also starring in this film us Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett , this films co-writer the late and most certainly great Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler , the great and always funny Rick Moranis as Louis Tully , Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore , Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz , Peter MacNicol as Janosz Poha , Kurt Fuller as Jack Hardemeyer , David Margulies as Mayor Lenny Clotch , William T. Deutschendorf and Hank J. Deutschendorf II as Baby Oscar , Wilhelm von Homburg as The Body Of Vigo The Carpathian and Max Von Sydow as The Voice Of Vigo The Carpathian.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty I thought personally thought that the acting that was featured / presented to us in this film was at best average to OK. Since it's clear as day that four main guys just couldn't make this script work which given that two of them co-wrote the script really does go along way in saying how bad the script to this film really is and it's the same case with all of the actors that are starring in this film since we have alot of funny actors and actresses and barley any of them can make the material that there given from this script work.

Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Apogee Productions and Visual Concept Engineering. As for what I thought about the CGI that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty I thought that the CGI that's featured / presented to us in this film was really good with alot of the effects heavy scenes having me wondering how in the hell they created that effect and one of those scenes is the one in the above picture because the effect was good and given that this film was being shot in 1988 and so the technology needed to create alot of the CGI that are seen in this movie just plain and simply wouldn't have been there.

This film is basically a more watered down version of the first film even down to this film repeating alot of the same plot points that the first film had. Which to me makes this film seem lazy which blatantly isn't the case since this film does have some form of originality when it comes to certain plot points and characters which honestly kind of makes it worse when you see plot points from the first film being done again only more watered down in this film.

One thing which doesn't make sense to me is that at some point after the first film everybody in New York just forgot that ghosts existed. This doesn't make sense because at the very least more then half of the population of New York saw the ghosts that where attacking New York in the first film it would have been one thing if they said that ghosts just stopped coming to our world and thus the Ghostbusters just went of business because there was no ghosts to bust but they don't say that all they say is the Ghostbusters were getting sued by everyone because those people don't believe in ghosts which is BS since all those same people had to do was look out of their window and they would see quite a few ghosts.

Now then boys and girls I simply have to talk about the walking statue of liberty scene because even tho that scene is cheesy and corny and campy all heck it is still a pretty fun sequence. This one scene to me at least felt the most true to the spirit of the first film since the first film was campy , cheesy and corny as all heck and yet it was enjoyable to watch and it had likeable characters and funny jokes all of which are present in the statue of liberty sequence and almost none of which are present in the rest of this very film.

This film has a grand total running time of one hour and forty eight minuets and nineteen seconds which to me at least felt a bit on the long side. This is simply because there just simply isn't enough story t cover that running time and as such I really do feel that this film should have been at least one hour ad thirty minuets or even anything up to but not passing one hour and twenty five minuets long just because there's not enough story to cover anything over one hour and thirty minuets but I will very fully admit that the pacing in this film is really good tho and so the time really does just plain and simply flies by.

Now then boys and girls since this film is a comedy that does mean that I have to talk about the actual jokes / comedy that's featured / presented to us in this film and if i'm being the comedy / jokes that are featured / presented to us in this very film are very funny. Granted the jokes aren't as funny as the jokes that are in the first film but there are still some good jokes in this film like Egon saying "Yo" which on paper doesn't sound funny but when you see the actual scene it's one of the best jokes in the movie plus alot of what Bill Murray says in this film is just funny as all heck / pure comedy gold.

Overall while this film is indeed a really good film it's not as good of a film as the first Ghostbusters film was. Now then i've talked about both of the good things that are in this film in this very review and as well as both of the bad things that are in this film in this very review and so that means that this film does sadly get a pretty average score which for a Ghostbusters film is not good thing with this film getting an average score of a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all of the images that I used in this review well then boys and girls I personally got all of the images that I used in this very review from the official Ghostbusters film fandom wiki page and since I only went to the official Ghostbusters film fandom wiki page. I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use the official Ghostbusters film fandom wiki page if you guys want to use any images from that are from the Ghostbusters franchise since pretty much alot of the images that are featured / presented to us up on the official Ghostbusters film fandom wiki page are all fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition.
