Lady And The Tramp 2019 Film Review

Ladies and gentlemen Disney have for some weird reason got it into their heads that we like it when they remake there classic animated films and if you look at the box office results for those films you could see where there coming. However if you look at the actual reviews to those films then they tell a different story and well I thought that i'd take a another look at a Disney live action remake just to see if my thoughts on the film have changed in the nearly two years since this film first was released on Disney+ and so join as I review the remake of the 1955 animated classic film called Lady And The Tramp with this 2019 film which itself is also called "Lady And The Tramp" enjoy.

The plot of this film is the exact same plot as the 1955 original film like the exact same plot with as far I can remember nothing being added to the actual story and nothing being taken away from the actual story either. Which honestly makes me wonder why the hell the makers of this film chose to keep the story the exact same as the 1955 original animated film as it makes this film pointless as you already know what's going to happen and that makes this film feel both boring and pointless because the story is an exact copy and nothing new.

Starring in this film are Thomas Mann as Jim Dear , Kiersey Clemons as Darling and Yvette Nicole Brown as Aunt Sarah. Also starring in this film is Tessa Thompson as The Voice Of Lady , Justin Theroux as The Voice Of Tramp , Sam Elliott as The Voice Of Trusty , Ashley Jensen as The Voice Of Jock , Janelle Monáe as The Voice Of Peg , Benedict Wong as The Voice Of Bull , Clancy Brown as The Voice Of Isaac , Nate Wonder as The Voice Of Devon , Roman GianArthur as The Voice Of Rex and James Bentley as The Voice Of Chance.

In all honesty the acting in this film wasn't that bad but my issue is the acting in this film wasn't that good either. Since even tho some of the voice actors in this film are decent there are a ton more voice actors in this film that are pretty bad and the same thing is true for the human actors with alot of the human actors over acting which makes that character seem really annoying which is a shame because alot of the actors in this film are good actors and we've seen them act well in other films but for some reason in this film alot of those actors just don't turn in a good performance and for the life of me I have no idea why that's the case.

Doing the CGI for this are BOT VFX , Day For NIte , Framestore , Moving Picture Company and Weta Digital. In all honesty the CGI in this film ranges from good to bad and sadly alot of the bad CGI comes from the mouths of the dogs because the mouths just look fake as hell and if i'm being honest the dogs look creepy as hell when they talk , however the bad CGI doesn't end with the CGI mouths because there are whole scenes where the dog is fully CGI and you can tell because the dog goes from looking good to looking like a character in a Playstation 3 or Playstation 4 game cutscene and not something that you'd expect or even want to see in a movie let alone a movie made and released by Disney but that's just what I think tho.

This film honestly lacks any kind of emotion simply because the film is going the more realistic route with it's animal characters and because of that the scenes should have alot of emotion behind them (like for example the famous spaghetti scene) all have no emotion. What makes things worse is the fact that all realism is gone the second that the dogs start talking as such I do feel that the film should either have full embraced being a more realistic take on the Lady And The Tramp or it should just embraced the fact that this isn't a realistic world but because it wants to have it's cake and eat it to your left with scenes that should have emotion now suddenly lacking any kind of emotion which for any kind of film is not a good thing in my opinion.

One of the things that I do give this film some slight praise for is the fact that it develops the romance between lady and Tramp alot more then the 1955 original animated film did. This is because this film is at least twenty to twenty five to even thirty or thirty five minuets longer then the 1955 original animated film and while this film does indeed the exact same story it also takes the time to develop the romance between Lady and Tramp which not only made their romance more believable in my opinion but it also helped the film as well since the romance between Lady and Tramp is in my opinion key to making this film work since if you don't believe the romance between Lady and Tramp then the whole film falls flat on it's face.

This film has a total running time of one hour and forty minuets and fifty seven seconds so let's round that up to one hour and forty one minuets long shall we. Which like i've just said makes this film alot longer then the 1955 original animated film but given that it's telling the exact same story as the 1955 original animated film I have to wonder why this film is the longer of the two since there's nothing in this film that requires it to be anywhere near two hours and indeed the pacing among many other things are things that this film got criticism for back when the film was first released all the way back in 2019 and it's not hard to see why since this film is a chore to sit through with scenes going on for far to long as such I do feel that this film could and in this case has told it's story in a much shorter running time and so why the makers of this film chose to make this film nearly one hour and forty five minuets long is truly beyond me since this film doesn't need to be that long in my opinion.

This is a musical which means that I have to talk about the songs that are in the film and for once I have no idea who the main song writers were for this film. Which is a bit of bad thing because I actually liked the songs in this film with both of the films songs (I don't know how this is classed a musical since this film only has two musical numbers) being really good with my personal favourite being "What a Shame" which is a replacement for the "The Siamese Cat Song" which isn't in this film due to how racist the song is and i'm honestly glad that "The Siamese Cat Song" isn't in this film because like I said it is pretty racist.

Now I personally would say that this is more of a drama then a straight up musical but even then the dramatic elements in the films story don't really work because again the film is telling exact same story as the 1955 film. As such I have to say that this film fails at being drama because you know what's coming next and even then when those dramatic elements happen that don't work as well because there watered down versions of what happened in the original film.

Overall this film is honestly really bad since all it is is a watered down version of a much better film with barely anything new or interesting added to it. Yes this film does have it's good things in the film which i've discussed in this review but the film also has alot more bad things in the film which like the good things that are in the film i've discussed the bad things that are in the film in this review and as such this film gets a 4.5 out of 10 from me , as for where I got the images that I used in this review well I got the images that I used in this review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official Star Wars fandom wiki page (which for those that don't know is called Wookipedia) and Google Images with my preferred choice being Google Images since there honestly wasn't alot of images from this film on the official Disney fandom wiki page and trust me I looked so yeah use Google Images if for some strange reason you want to use any images from this film.
