Hot Fuzz Review

Film fans it's not often that I get ton review one of the truly greatest films to come out of the UK and well with the world in the state it's on I thought hell why not take a look at what many consider one the greatest comedies to come out of the UK. This is a film that I not only love but also own on DVD heck I own all but one of the films in The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy that being "The World's End" and so here is my review of "Hot Fuzz" enjoy.

The plot of the film is ace London policeman Nicholas Angel is transferred away from London to sleepy village of Sandford where there are apparently no crimes however Nicholas does discover that there might some murders going on and resolves to solve them. In all honesty the plot is perhaps the weakest part of the film only because for a large portion of the film there really isn't a plot going on there's just stuff happening.

Starring in the film is co-writer Simon Pegg as Nicholas Angel , Nick Frost as Police Constable Danny Butterman , Jim Broadbent as Inspector Frank Butterman , Paddy Considine as Detective Sergeant Andy Wainwright , Timothy Dalton as Simon Skinner , Olivia Colman as PC Doris Thatcher , Rafe Spall as Detective Constable Andy Cartwright and honestly far to many actors to even mention.

In all honesty the casting for this film is truly fantastic I didn't even name half of the fantastic actors in this film. In terms of the acting what else can I say except it's great which given that alot of the main cast are surrounded by these great actors and so of course the main cast are going to up there game here and it also helps that the script is honestly so well written it would be hard for anyone not to give a great performance.

As noted this is the second film in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy where each film in the trilogy spoofs a certain genre with Shaun Of The Dead spoofing zombie movies and The World's End spoofing science fiction movies. As you can all no doubt tell in this film there spoofing buddy cop action movies and in my honest opinion out of all three films this is perhaps my favourite one simply because this is the best written out of all three films.

This film does an excellent job of setting up the third act without letting you know that's what's it doing. Like for example we see shots of a sign pointing towards the model village and there are lines that are said early on in the film that then come back in the third act which I thought was brilliant simply because it's not hitting you over the head with it's foreshadowing it's done in a rather subtle way and I loved it.

There are alot of cameos in this film and while alot of them are really known i'm still not going to spoil who's in it just incase there are people out there who haven't seen this film. The cameos in the film are also really done and even tho alot of them are people that you'd most likely know if your a British person or a fan of British comedy , heck it's even fun trying to work out who's going to appear me is always a good thing.

Now then there is a mystery in this film and so it makes sense that we talk about the mystery aspect of the film. Which again is something that I didn't like mostly because they don't really give you any clues so you can't work out what's going on and who's behind it at the same time as the characters do and so when the reveal does happen it comes out of nowhere which is a shame because the reveal and twist is honestly really good.

I liked how they built up the friendship of Nicholas and Danny it was something that was done really well and there friendship felt real to me. Part of that does come from the fact that both Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are indeed best friends in real life and their chemistry really does shine through , what makes the Danny and Nicholas development work is that we get to see what each other brings to the friendship Danny makes Nicholas more of a fun person whereas Nicholas makes Danny a better police officer.

Since this is a comedy film it only makes sense that we talk about the jokes that are in the film within the film itself. I honestly feel that the jokes in this film are super freaking funny there are alot of jokes that are in the film and nearly all of them work and alot of that is down to the script since both the writers Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright are generally funny people , adding to the comedy is the fact that the cast looking like they are generally having a fun time making the film.

Overall I simply cannot praise this film enough it is such a good film and it deserves all of the praise that it gets. That however doesn't mean that the film is without fault because it's not heck i've even mentioned a few of the faults that I personally found with the film in this review but i'm sure there are many more to be found , however if you can look past the faults then this is a truly great film I however i'm treating this film fairly and so it gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
