The Festival Review

Film fans i'm currently at the start of my busiest week of reviews freaking ever but i've not forgotten about you British film fans and so here is my review of a film that i've been dying to see from some of the funniest people in recent years here is my review of The Festival.

The plot of the movie is after Nick's girlfriend dumps him his best mate Shane has the perfect antidote to his break-up blues three days at an epic music festival. I have no idea what to say about the plot because it's something i've not seen before but I can say that the way the film handles this set up is really good and it does have some truly funny situations which i'll get into later. The only downside I can think of is that this plot would have made for a great Inbetweeners movie and that to me means the film looses some of it's identity.

The film stars Joe Thomas as Nick Taylor , Hammed Animashaun as Shane Simpson , Claudia O'Doherty as Amy , Emma Rigby as Smurf Girl , Jemaine Clement as Robin , Hannah Tointon as Caitlin , Kurt Yaeger as Pirate , Noel Fielding as Hammerhead , Nick Frost as Ricky the Tattooist , Theo Barklem-Biggs as Gordy Symonds , Leigh Williams as Clive The Newsagent , Lizzy Connolly as Lucy , Hugh Coles as Rex , Chris Geere as Brother David.

If your a fan of The Inbetweeners like myself then you'll reconise a few of the names in this cast list and if you recall they were really funny in that show. You'll be glad to know that both Joe and Hannah who were in The Inbetweeners together are really funny in this film and I don't really think that this needs saying since he's funny in pretty much anything he's in but Nick Frost is really funny in this film.

This film is kind of an Inbetweeners reunion the film's director / one of the producers is Iain Morris who is the co-creator / co-writer / one of the producers of the series and co-director of the second Inbetweeners film. One of the film's other producers has all the same credits as Iain and is his writing partner Damon Beesley as well as the already mentioned Joe Thomas and Hannah Tointon. So if your a fan of The Inbetweeners this is a film that you'd love.

As I mentioned before I couldn't help but think that the plot of this film would have been suited for a third Inbetweeners film. That's because the plot for this film would have been perfect for those characters heck this film even kind of rips off the first Inbetweeners film by having Joe's character's girlfriend leave him at the start of the film.

If you like gross out humor then this is the film for you because there's a lot of it in this film and that's not surprising given one of the directors made The Inbetweeners. All of the jokes are the kind of jokes you'd find in either an episode of in any of the film versions of The Inbetweeners and I loved them because all of them are really freaking funny but there are one or two that I wouldn't recommend watching with any grown ups near by.

This film commits a sin against music by featuring a dreadful remix of the awesome Mr. Brightside by The Killers who ever had the idea to have a remix of that song shouldn't be allowed near music ever again. That song is perfect just the way it is and it's a song that would have fit in well at a music festival.

Overall this was a really funny film even tho it does retread some ground that was done better in the first Inbetweeners film it still has plenty of likable characters and funny moments to make up for it so it gets a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
