Churchill Review

Hello there movie fans i'm here today to bring you a review of a movie that has only just came out in the UK and is about it's greatest leader during the country's darkest hour so here is my review of Churchill.

The film follows Winston Churchill in the final days and hours leading up to D-Day and shows us how he struggled with that decision. What i loved about this film is the fact that Churchill is shown as an actual human being he makes mistakes , he get's upset , he gets angry he does all the things that make us human and i'm glad that this was in the story but with that being said the film's pacing is off at times.

The film stars Brian Cox , Miranda Richardson , John Slattery , James Purefoy and Ella Purnell and i have to say that the cast do a great job in this film Brian Cox is fantastic as Winston Churchill as is Miranda as his long suffering wife there really isn't a bad egg in the whole bunch every actor brought there A game and wow did it show.

Wow the sets in this film are fantastic i have to give the set designers huge props because they really made something out of nothing. Another person who should get props is the location manager because they found some truly great locations that are truly stunning to look at all of the locations looks like they were from the 40's if that makes any sense but it's true.

I have to mention this again but i loved the fact that they showed Churchill as a human being who makes mistakes because since this is a British film it would have been easy to paint him as a hero who does nothing wrong and i'm glad that this film went the opposite route and that i think makes more relatable as a character.

I will say that the third act of the film does get quite emotional and that's great as it shows that war isn't all sunshine and roses and instead of showing that story from the soldiers point of view you see it from the average person's point of view and that makes it even more emotional because people at that time didn't want to know if there loved one died they wanted to know they were safe.

The score for the film was done by Lorne Balfe and i have to say the music in the film was really good each bit of music helped make the scene it was in better and it fitted the mood of each scene as well and it's not often i can say that.

Overall i'd say if your a fan of British films or if you like period films then this is the film for you but be ready for some bad pacing so with that in mind for me the film is an 8 out of 10
