Wakko's Wish Review

Hello there animation lovers as a 90's kid i was a huge fan of Animaniacs and so years later when i heard that the series spawned a film i was eager to see it and now here is my review of that very film called Wakko's Wish.

The plot of this movie is the Warner siblings and the whole gang from Animaniacs find out about a fallen wishing star and all race to see who gets to make the wish. In terms of story that's really all you get but there is also a kinda subplot as well involving a king but i won't go into it incase you want to watch the film for yourselves the plot is also the perfect plot for an Animaniacs product it's both simple enough and insane enough that you buy into it.

All of the actors from the show reprise their roles and those include Jess Harnell , Rob Paulsen , Tress MacNeille , Maurice LaMarche , Sherri Stoner , Nancy Cartwright , Nathan Ruegger , Frank Welker , Chick Vennera , John Mariano and Bernadette Peters. I have to say all of the cast do a great job in this movie which should come as no surprise as at that point they had been voicing those characters for about six years but tho for me the two standout performers where Tress and Rob and it's all due to one scene near the end of the movie and that one scene shows how good an actors they are.

The show was famous partly for it's jokes and it's adult humor and while there's not that many adult type jokes in the movie there's a few in there that adults will get and will hopefully love there's one at the start of the movie which spoofs Citizen Kane which i just think is funny as hell but in terms of "kiddie jokes" there's alot of those but there not that good to be honest.

One of the other things that the show was famous for is it's animation even for a TV show the animation was always top notch stuff and the same is true for the movie except this time with a movie budget instead of a TV budget the backgrounds look nicer the colors look crisper and there is a lot of fluid motion and because this is a movie there's also more great facial expressions which make some the jokes more funnier then what they would have been.

Now what i thought was really cool about the movie was the fact that i think for the first time ever we get to see Yakko and Wakko care for Dot during the early parts of the movie we see Yakko look after his ill sister and Wakko's wish isn't for money or greed but it's for his sister to get better and that's a great and beautiful thing to see on screen and it makes their relationship more believable.

Now unlike the Tiny Toons movie which was made by the same team this movie has all the characters together for most of the movie and that's both a good and bad it's good because it makes the movie feel more epic but bad because it means we have to rush through the story at a fast pace and it leaves no time for any kind of character development where as in the Tiny Toons movie all the characters were separated for most of the movie so they could have that room to grow as characters but here all the characters remain the same at the end of the movie.

The final thing that the show was famous for was it's songs and my god does this movie have plenty of those i think 95% of this movie is made up of just songs which is not a bad thing since the late Richard Stone who did the music and songs for the show does the same thing here my issue with the songs is the fact that not only can you see the songs coming a mile away but most of them just aren't that good and they keep on repeating songs all throughout the movie.

Overall if your a fan of the show then you might want to check this out but you will disappointed but if you have kids and just want them to be quite for an hour and twenty minuets then this is harmless but for me this movie is a 7 out of 10
