There Is A Problem With Most Modern Hollywood Action Movies
Hey there movie fans i'm here not with a review of the latest Jason Bourne film but with some shocking news there is a problem with most modern action films that are produced by hollywood and here are those problems.
The first problem is there is a lot of shaky cam now in most action movies and while that can be a good thing when you mix it with fast editing it can leave the audience confused as to what is going on and who is where and doing what and the sad thing is along as films like The Bourne series is still making money we will see this alot in action films to come.
The next issue is a major one at least for me anyway and that is the characters are badly written this is a thing that is true with any sequel but it really stands out in either horror sequels or action sequels in the case of the horror sequel they get rid of the interesting characters to make room for more jump scares and in the case of the action sequel they do it so they can move to the next big set piece and if you think this isn't true then ask your self this one question who was john's sidekick in Die Hard 4 then you'll see how badly written the characters were.
Now then this issue is one that has been around for decades and is usually not that bad but at times it can be and that is fast cuts in action scenes this is an issue that is sadly becoming more and more apparent in modern action films but it started with Dr.No so why is it just becoming an issue now and that's simple the director is not giving the audience a chance to see where the characters are in a scene and as mentioned before when you mix that with the shaky cam it won't end up well for the audience but there is a fix and that is simple don't do that many cuts in an action scene.
Now this next problem is more down to taste anything else but is still something that is cropping up more and more in modern action movies and that is he lack of practical effects i've said before that i prefer practical effects over CGI and here is the reason it's because the scene feels more real it adds realism when you know that a certain stunt was done for real rather then something that was done in a computer now sadly there will not be a way to fix this issue at least not for now so all we can do is praise the film that uses practical effects over one's that use CGI.
Now thankfully last year there was an increase of films that used more practical effects and real sets then CGI with films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens being the most popular of the two so let's hope that this trend does in fact continue.
So there we go people those are some real problems that i have noticed in modern action films and where i can i have listen ways that can easily fix the problem.
