Encanto Film Review

Disney animated films are usually something of a treasure as while they very rarely if ever get it wrong but when they do it is something to behold. Thankfully this is NOT the case with the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about as this is one of the times that they actually got it right and yet for some odd reason they've not done a sequel to this film yet there are countless Frozen sequels being made and while there is a live concert we will want a sequel and so then join me as I review the film that really should get a sequel in some way shape or form with the film in question being called simply just "Encanto" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when her house and her families magic is threatened Mirabel the only none magical member of the family must find a way to save it before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. It's a safe thing to assume that this films plot isn't the strongest that Disney have done this is something that does also work well enough with the film as what makes this films story work isn't it's deep and thought provoking plot rather it's the films characters. Yes granted this film would still be really good if the films plot was alot more stronger but that would also be going against the mundaness of the film itself as then the films plot would need to be more epic and would need to have all of the things that it doesn't have and this is something that instead of making the film feel unique in it's own way it would instead make it blend in with all of the other Disney animated films and yet by stripping back the plot it allows things like the characters , the songs and the humor to really rise up and guess what people remember this film for it's the characters , the songs and the humor with the plot being something that alot of people to tend to forget and for good reason as it is a forgettable plot albeit one that is still interesting and is still a fresh and new story with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel Madrigal and María Cecilia Botero as "Abuela" Alma Madrigal. Also starring in this film is Mauro Castillo as Félix Madrigal , Jessica Darrow as Luisa Madrigal , Angie Cepeda as Julieta Madrigal , Carolina Gaitán as Pepa Madrigal , Diane Guerrero as Isabela Madrigal , Wilmer Valderrama as Agustín Madrigal , Rhenzy Feliz as Camilo Madrigal , Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Antonio Madrigal , Adassa as Dolores Madrigal , Maluma as Mariano Guzman , Alan Tudyk as Pico and John Leguizamo as Bruno Madrigal.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. This films acting is really alot more better then what it really had any right to be as none of this films actors are that well known and this is something that does work into this films advantage as it allows you to see the characters alot more easier rather then just hear the famous person playing them this is also why Seth Rogan will never make for a good voice actor as he refuses to change his voice for a character therefor you don't see Pumba you hear Seth Rogan yet here you don't have that issue. With the best actor in this film being Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel Madrigal as she really does have to carry alot of the film and she does so with ease this isn't like with Brooklyn Nine Nine where she could take a backseat to any other of the main actors here she has to step and has to be good and my god does she knock it out of water with her having the ability to make you cry and make you laugh sometimes in the same scene and while it of course hard to judge if she has great chemistry with any of the actors in this film due to the fact that they more then likely recorded there lines separately what can be said is that she does also have a really good singing voice that is perfect for Mirabel with her own natural charm and charisma really shining through in this film. With the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that thia films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact this is films animation is as good as it is is something that does make alot off sense as even in Disney's bad animated films they always have some really good and high quality animation to them and while this film would have worked just as well if it was a 2D animated film it still does work really well in 3D animation. With the film having lots of bright colors that really do pop of screen and make this films world feel alot more colorful and vibrant and heck we even get to see alot of creative looking sequences that show the films animation during some of the films musical numbers all of which do look really stunning to look at and are quite frankly a testament as just how good that this films animation is in particular the scene in "What Else Can I Do" where as we see Isabella surrounded by a bunch of flowers at the back of her that part of that sequence really did stand out due to not not only how vibrant and colorful it was but also due to how well animated it is with the makers of this film really using the songs musical numbers to take as full advantage as they possibly could do of the fact that this is an animated film, with even all of the films characters having these really fluid movements to them all of which add to either making the character be more fun and goofy or to the zaniness of the films more comedic moments.

What is quite shocking is that despite him basically being the films third main character Bruno doesn't really appear in the film until one hour into the film. Yet despite this he does still feel like a fully formed and fleshed out character who has his own insecurities and fears when characters that are usually introduced that late into a film are nine times out of ten very badly done characters and yet here you can tell that the makers of this film did put alot of thought and effort into making him feel like a true member of the family even if it was just by doing something as simple as showing that his table in his hidden room connects to the families main kitchen table thus showing that he does care about his family. That is such a small minute detail that didn't really need to be in the film and that one little bit tells us something about him as a character and while yes we do get to see him being goofy and being silly neither of it feels that much of out place as due to how long he's been "missing" it is plausible that he has forgotten how to act around people, heck we even get to see that he is still kind to all of his family even tho they essentially shunned him from being in the family for years with this even being something that does hit home the films main theme of family and what it truly means to love someone and to have a family as it would have been very easy for him to just turn his back on them after they either didn't stop or helped to create the rumor that he was this truly evil person and while the character doesn't get alot of screen time in this film if there is a sequel to this film then diving into what makes Bruno tick is one way that any sequel could go as there is alot there that we don't know about him due to the fact that he's not in alot of this film.

Whilst the film doesn't have the stereotypical villain it could be argued does still have a villain in the character of "Abuela" Alma Madrigal. As her love for her family whilst at first it does come from a very conditional basis in that she'll only love you if you can be helpful to her and her wants and her goals but over the course of the film we do see that get stripped back and we do get to find out why she holds on to tight to all of her family and that she does genuinely care for them how ever due to the fact that she's lost a loved one in her past she does find it hard not to love her family but to let them go as she fears that she is does that she might not see them again which is something that does make her both a villain and at the same time not a villain. She's not a villain in the sense that what she's doing is born purely out of love for her family which is something that even "Abuela" Alma Madrigal admits to being the case near the end of the film but she's also the films villain due to the fact that she not only pushes all of her family members to hard with her even starting to come up with ideas as to how Antonio can use his newly given gift just ONE DAY after her first got it and it is her that is perhaps the harshest on Mirabel with her even admitting that Mirabel will never be good enough in her eyes and while yes that is something it could be argued was said purely in the heat of the moment as the two of them were arguing really badly at the time it's the fact that she even said something like that at all that makes her a villain as is the fact that she does purposefully exclude Mirabel from alot of things very early on in the film preferring to come across as being perfect rather then being real, these are things that also make her a sympathetic character as we do get to understand where she is coming from and we get to feel for her this doesn't make what she does right but we do get to have that basic level of understanding as to why she acts the way that she does.

This film is a musical film that has songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda with him turning in some really good songs in this film. With them all including a few of the more worse songs like for example "Waiting on a Miracle" and "What Else Can I Do?" are still really well written songs and while those songs are easily some of the worst songs in this film that's not a bad thing in this case as those songs are still so good but when you compare them to any of the films other songs they do come off as being the weaker of the songs and heck even all of the films songs are really well sung with all of the films actors having some really good singing vocals on them which for Carolina Gaitán and Adassa does make sense as both of them are singers but alot of this films actors are just that actors and not singers and yet they still sing really well in this film. Whilst people might say that "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is the best song in the film as that is the sung that Disney chose to release and whilst yes it is a good song for me the best song in the whole film is either "Surface Pressure" or "The Family Madrigal" as they both are really written and well sung songs and while "Surface Pressure" does tackle more serious issues as it does deal with him someone having a bit to much on there plate and being unable to relax and unload it all "The Family Madrigal" is the more fun song that does get stuck in your head but that song doesn't have unique visuals to it as it is just there very much to introduce all of the films main characters where as with "Surface Pressure" the makers of the film do go a little bit more out there with there visuals and it is something that does make that number a visual treat to watch with both songs being songs that you could play in the car and just get lost singing to.

Now then tis film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty two minuets and seven seconds. Which for a Disney animated film is pretty much the running time that you'd expect the film to have and while it could very well be argued that this is film is a bit a slow burn when it doesn't have the time to be one this is something where it could be argued that alot of the hidden storytelling is done in the songs due to the fact that that's when we get to find out what alot of the characters are secretly feeling why this wasn't just spoken and had to sung is anyone's guess as does feel like the at the makers of this film had some space on the soundtrack and therefor they just crammed as many songs in the film as they possibly could have done with the film even having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet despite this tho this film really doesn't use its running time all that wisely due to the fact that the film doesn't fully develop its plot which is something that again could be chalked up to the fact that alot of the plot is being advanced in the films songs which whilst yes that is a good way to use the films songs as then there not stopping the film to sing a song like they would have dine in the live action Alvin & The Chipmunks movies for example there could have been a better way to add things to the plot without forcing people to have to listen to a song with the makers of this film putting mor thought and effort into the films songs then they did into giving the films plot some plot development. This is something that does effect the films character development as outside of Alma and Mirabel none of the films characters get character development as the film is again having the characters development take place during the films musical sequences when it could have had the characters get development outside of them with the makers of this film putting more thought and effort into making Alma the villain of the film then they did into giving the films characters some character development but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now the as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. To be frank here Dolores s not only the funniest character in this movie as she does get alot of the best jokes in this film but she is also the most savage member of the family with her straight up telling a bunch of kids that Mirabel never got a gift at the start of the film and then she just says to Isabella that her boyfriend is not only going to propose to her that night but that he also wants to have five kids which just causes Isabella to get stressed out and embarrassed both at the same time. With the best joke even being kind of related to her and during the song "All Of You" she actually says that she heard Bruno every day which causes Camilo to give her a look that says why didn't you say something then which does bed the question of yeh why didn't she say something she would have had no idea that Bruno was trying to protect Mirabel from a prophecy therefor why didn't she say to someone that she can hear Bruno and tell them where he is this is all just goes back to her being the most savage member of the family as she could have had this family rift if you will sorted out years ago but chose not to do it with that that joke with Camilo being proof of that and yet despite that she is still a fun and funny character who can make you laugh just by making a sound with the rest of the films jokes being just as a good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall does this film have its fair share of issues yes but is it also a fun film that has some good songs and and some really funny jokes in it also yes which makes it a shame that Disney really has done anything with these characters as this film proves that these characters can and do work really well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and a such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
