Jackass: Best And Last Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review
There really isn't alot of people right now who haven't at the very least seen one of the movies in this franchise. As alot of people know full well what Jackass is with alot of them having seen the various movies and if your of a certain age you would noy only have watched the movies but also episodes of the show well the boys and girl are back with what is there final ever movie and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that sees the team go out with a bang with the film in question being called simply just "Jackass: Best And Last" enjoy.
There really aren't any plot to alot of the mainline Jacka*s films and this is something that does work to the films advantage. Die to the fact that alot of the fun of these films is seeing these crazy and borderline insane friends doing these pranks to not only each other but also the public and having a plot would help to get in the way of that just look at Bad Grandpa as proof of that and heck this films works so well because of the fact that it doesn't have a plot to it as that is not only the style of these films but it was also the style of the show where alot of made them work so well in the first place was seeing the stunts that the guys did to each other. Heck this isn't even a case where having a plot would help make the stunts all the more funnier as all it would end doing is getting in the way of the things that we've come to this film to see and while Bad Grandpa did prove that you can have a Jackass film and still have a plot in it the plot of that film did get in the way of the stunts and didn't really feel like a true Jackass film where as here in this film it wouldn't have made sense for them to have a plot in the first as we want to see the gang get hurt in these films and see just what it is that they can get away with but in saying this tho one can't help but wonder what a more plot focused Jackass film would look like as it is somethin that if it was done right could look really good if the plot didn't get in the way of the comedy that this franchise is known for as these guys and girl could very easily carry a more plot driven film if they were just as committed to the plot as they are the stunts which is something that could make for at the very least an interesting Jackass film.
Starring in this film is one of this films producers Johnny Knoxville and one of this films co-producers Steve-O. Also starring in this film is one of this f9lms co-producers Chris Pontius, one of this films co-producer Jason "Wee Man" Acuña, one of this films co-producers Preston Lacy , one of this films co-producers Dave England , one of this films co-producers "Danger Ehren" McGhehey , Sean "Poopies" McInerney , Zach Holmes , Jasper Dolphin , Rachel Wolfson , Compston "Dark Shark" Wilson , Loomis Fall , Tory Belleci , Adam Ray , Paul Walter Hauser , Dr. Julie Mizener , Ramy Elgazar , Mark Gonzales , Lauren Sesselmann , Chris Arreola and Tigi Hill.
As with the previous film there is one glaring emission from the list of people that are in this film and that is Bam Margera. Who despite him filming footage for and getting hired from the previous film is not seen in any new footage in this film which is something that is both fair but at the same time is also kind of sad it's fair due to the fact that by all accounts he wasn't very professional on the set of the last film and therefor the guys just might not have wanted to deal with him again in this film which is fair enough as while we would only have to put up with him for one hour and thirty minuets they would need to do it for months at time and given that his closest friend in the group is sadly no longer with us it wouldn't make sense for them to want to deal him again this time around. However at the same time tho given the fact this is the last time that these guys and girl are getting together to make a movie it would have been nice if they did at the very least reach out to him to try and get him to make an appearance in the film in some way shape or form even it's just a quick cameo and really nothing more then that as Bam did have his fans as well as he does have the right to want to say goodbye to them and given the fact that this show launched all of their careers it would have been nice if they get him back even if its just for one day of filming, they do however include alot of stuff from Ryan Dunn which was a nice thing to see as of course he wouldn't have been able to say goodbye to the show and seeing him one last time in this film is something that does in it's own unique way make it feel like he is still with us as we will still have these movies and the show to see more of him in but it still would have been nice if Bam was able to be in the film as he was a big part of the original show and the first three films and while the fourth film didn't really miss him all that much here he should have been in a quick cameo just to say goodbye to the show.
The main attraction to these films like the Saw films is never the people it's the stunts and the pranks that they play on each other. With this being something that the film does fully understand as the film does have alot of stunts and pranks in this film with alot of them being really creative and none of which are going to be spoiled in the review as they are things that you should see on the big screen but lets say that much like with the previous movies the stunts in this film are ones that they wouldn't be able to get away on the show for various reasons which is a good thing as does give us more of a reason to go watch this film as there would be no point in seeing this film if the stunts were tamer then the ones that they were doing in the show. What will be said is that not all of the stunts are stunts that they could do in the show as alot of them do feel very much like that they could have done in the show but for one reason or another they chose to do them in this movie but those stunts are very few and far between, luckily tho the guys are ending it with this film which given the fact that alot of the original crew are advanced in years is something that should have been the case with the previous film as there is only so many times that you can see Johnny Knoxville almost kill himself before it stops being funny and he actually does it and it's the same thig for the rest of the original crew as injuries that would take them weeks at best to recover from are now going to take them months and given the fact that a few of them did suffer injuries whilst making this film it does go to show you that they made the right call in choosing to end the franchise here altho if they wanted to they very easily could carry it on just by handing the reigns over to the new group which is a very viable option as that way you could have the original gang come in for quick cameos and that's it.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whilst Bam Margera isn't technically in new footage in this film he does appear in unused footage from Jackass Forever with him appearing in the "The Silence Of The Lambs" skit. This is something that does make it clear that he must have filmed a great deal of footage before getting hired from the film with him even appearing in archie footage from the previous three films and the show with all of his bits really reminding us why he was this crazy character it doesn't make anything that he did in his personal life right but it does hit home the fact that he should have been in newly filmed footage in this film as he was a big part of the original show with him appearing in alot of scenes in just the first episodes alone. Bottom line being here is the fact that this film serves as not only a love letter to the franchise as a whole but also the fans that stuck by it when there wasn't anything new coming out and that do still watch it and stick by it to this very day as we do get to see alot of the behind the scenes stuff from the first film including Steve-O openly refusing to take part in the X-Ray skit and Ryan showing Bam the X-Ray both of which are tings that might not have been released before now but the fact that they are being shown in this film does show us that the makers of this film do have a great deal of respect for the fans as they are giving us things that we never got to see before now all the while giving us things that we come to one of these films to see in the first place and while this does cause an issue with the film the fact that the makers of this film do go as far back as they do with them even showing the pilot tape the Knoxville made on weapons testing where he shoots himself in the stomach with a gun is dedication to giving us alot of things that we never knew about and it is something that does make this film worth watching in it's own right.
If your going into this film expecting to see alot of the newbies take part in there own stunts be prepared to be let down alot. As none of them take part in any solo stunts in this film with Rachel not even taking part in any stunt at all with her stunt with her and Poopies having to walk across a balance beam in a wet suit together a stunt which did cause her to get injured and Poopies getting knocked out by Football player Tigi Hill which again got cut and with there being no .5 for this film it does mean that we might have to wait for the DVD or Blu-Ray to come out to see if the footage from those stunts shows us up there as they do sound like good stunts that would have shown us more of what these newbies really could do. Alot of the other newbies tho do take part in alot of stunts in this film but as the film has to also feature some of the best stunts from not only the previous films but also the show and has interviews with several of the original gang it does mean that something had to go which in this case does mainly mean alot of the stunts with the newbies even tho they could have been used to carry the franchise forward should Johnny and the rest of the originals decide that they've had enough and dont want to do more films or TV shows, heck it's even oddly enough Zach Holmes that oddly features in alot of the stunts with him mainly playing the role that Preston would have been playing which granted isn't much but it's better then nothing and heck even Preston himself isn't in that many stunts this go around with it more the likely being that alot of his scenes ended up being cut to make way for footage from the previous shows and movies which is something that does make sense and he does appear in on of those scenes with the film showing us a stunt in which Wee Man jumps of a bride whilst being attached to some bungie chord that is attached to Preston and also showing us the scene where he gets kicked in the head from Jackass 3D.
This film does show us Johnny Knoxville actually getting emotional over the fact that this franchise is coming to and end. With him even starting the film by saying that he's sad that this chapter of his life is coming to a close after twenty six years with this being something that does make sense as he was there from day one episode one of season one of the show and it's because of him willing to take a chance on the show that they managed to get a movie deal out of it in the first place heck it could even be argued that he is the face of this franchise due to all of the work that he put into making the show happen in the first place therefore if anyone should feel sad that all of the work has not only payed off but is also coming to an end then it should be him. This is not to downplay all of the work that the other guys put into the films and show but it is clear as day that this franchise meant alot of Johnny as it more the likely did for the rest of the gang and heck we even get to see him slightly tear up at the end just before the final stunt of the film as that's how much that this franchise to him and while it might be easy for alot of the other guys to move on as alot of them like for example Steve-O do have other things that they are working on the only thing that Johnny has right now is the Fear Factor reboot and while it time the guys might very well want to come back together and do something for this franchise there not going to be able to top this films ending as it shows us the real human impact that this franchise has had on these people as we get to see that they are all best friends and that comrade is something that we see in not only the show but also the films and that is something that Dirty Sanchez and Nitro Circus didn't have and that's why they do feel like poorer clones of this franchise.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty two minuets and three seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film with it even being the bogstandard running time for these films to have and to be fair given the fact that this film does have alot of stuff to fit in be it alot of the best stunts from the show and the films alot with both interviews from the original gang and newly filmed stunts with both the original gang and the newbies this film really did need to be that long as even tho it doesn't have a plot to fit in there it still does have alot of things to cram into the film and while yes some things do end up getting cut from the film it all does serve to make this film as good as it could have been. With a major issue being the fact that there are perhaps one to many interviews as we don't need to know that alot of the crew where thinking when they filmed a certain stunt we just want to see the stunt itself and with the film taking up a small chunk of its running time with those interviews that does mean that not everybody gets there chance to shine which is something that the other films always made sure to do as they always made sure that no one person was the main character of the film where as here it does very much feel like Johnny Knoxville is the main star of the film. This is not a bad thing persay as to alot of people he is the face of this franchise but with the film dedicating alot of time to him and in showing us alot of unreleased stunts including one that got the crew kicked out of filming in LA or good it does make it feel very one sided when all of the original gang that they have in the film should have been able to say goodbye to there fan whist still doing what they do best, with the new crew being most effected by this as alot of there stuff does end up getting cut from the film itself but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the main attraction for this film and it's comedy being of course the stunts alot of which re just as gut bustingly funny as they ever where and while people will of course laugh at alot of the classic stunts like for example Brad Pitt getting abducted there are alot of really funny newly stunts in this film all of which match the more then high bar that the makers of this film had already set themselves with the previous films and TV show. With the best stunt in this film being one that is called "The Escape Room From Hell" as we got to see alot of the typical craziness and grossness from the movies with one scene being that won't be talked about as it's one that you do need to see in order to fully believe it but lets just say that Dave England gets put through alot in this skit with it being him that helps to make it as funny as it is as on paper this is a skit that really shouldn't have been as funny as it was but when pair Dave with Ehren and Dark Shark then you do usually end up with gold, while there are something that could have been done differently like maybe having different groups of people all take part in it as this would give some the newbies something to do that the fact that the makers of this film just kept it to those three alot of whom are known in the sow for pretty much saying yes to anything does make alot of sense as it means that your going to end up with something that is really funny with the rest of the films jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall whilst this film is making a ton of money at the box office right now as its already made back its production budget there really shouldn't be a sixth film just due to the fact that alot of the older stars of this film are just that and there will be a time when they do a stunt and something bad does happen to them but with that being said this film was a very serviceable send off film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. ow then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
