Toy Story Film Review

We are about a few days away from the release of the latest PIXAR film Hoppers with that film pretty much just being Avatar but animated. While the film that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today might have worked as a tie in review for that film this isn't going to be a tie in review as I just wanted to talk about a film that meant alot to me growing up and that PIXAR can't seem to let go as after the series in the most perfect way possible they then released a fourth movie and there now about to release a fifth one and so then join me as I review the film that shows us what toys really get up to when we're not looking with the film in question being called simply just "Toy Story" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a space toy named Buzz Lightyear quickly becomes his owners favorite toy Woody sets out to correct this only for him and Buzz to find out that they need each other more then they could possible ever imagine. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films plot being that's a really solid plot due to the fact that there is alot of thought and attention put into this films plot as the very idea of the film that being what do toys get up to when we're not in the room is something that every single kid has wondered at somepoint in there lives and while yes the films plot could be seen as being weak as for a large portion of the films running time the film doesn't have a plot to speak of and whilst this is something that would be seen as being a bad thing here it is something that does work well enough in the films favor due to the fact that the film does get to set up the characters of Woody and Buzz showing us why they don't really like each other at the start of the film when compared to the end of the film were they are best friends and while yes the film would have been made all the more stronger if they did put alot of more focus on to it's plot instead of giving us a load of filler scenes it could also be argued that those filler scenes help to further the plot ad well as we get to see Woody being pushed to the point where he feels that the only way to get things right is to get rid of Buzz all together with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Tom Hanks as Woody , Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head. Also starring in this film is Jim Varney as Slinky Dog , Wallace Shawn as Rex , John Ratzenberger as Hamm , Annie Potts as Bo Peep , John Morris as Andy Davis , Erik Von Detten as Sid Phillips , Laurie Metcalf as Mrs. Davis , R. Lee Ermey as Sergeant , Sarah Freeman as Hannah Phillips , Penn Jillette as The Buzz Lightyear TV Commercial Announcer , Jeff Pidgeon as The Aliens , Joe Ranft as Lenny and Mickie McGowan as Mrs. Phillips.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the fact that this films acting being as good as it is is something that's not really all that surprising due to the fact that all of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors in there own right with them all really capturing there character perfectly so much that is hard to picture anyone playing these characters as that's just how well cast that this films actors ad while yes Jim Hanks has voiced Woody in both the games and parks Tom Hanks is just so pitch perfect as the character with the films best actor being a tie between Tim Allen and Tom Hanks as they are both just so good as these characters as they both each bring both a certain energy to their roles something which does compliment what it is that the over is doing with there character as well with this being helped by the fact that both actors have some wonderful chemistry with each other which is something that isn't exclusive to this film as these two actors can have chemistry with anyone but here it works as it helps us the audience to buy into the fact that these two characters are becoming friends and while of course there acting would get alot more better in the other films it's great to see that even in this film there acting was still just as good and just as memorable with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Pixar Animation Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as even this film came in 1995 you can't really tell that this film is over thirty years old as all of PIXAR's films have always had some really good looking animation to them and while of course technology would have improved over that time period to allow them to full animate fur something which doesn't look as good in this film that is more due to the technology that they had available to them at the time and is not due to the quality of the film as the films animation is still breathtaking even more when you take into account this film was released in 1995 with CGI animated movies not really being a thing as while CGI had started to creep up more and more in movies animation was still typically done in 2D and therefor the fact that they managed to get a CGI animated film made at all let alone have animation in it that more then holds up even all of these later is still something that's to be hold with even the films characters having these really exaggerated movements to them somethin which wouldn't work if the films characters were all mostly human character but because of the fact that there all mostly toys in it something that does work really well as now the makers of this film aren't bound by what the human body can do which is something that does give us some really good looking animation in this film.

Another one of the things that this films does really well is the friendship between Woody and Buzz as we get to see them grow as characters all throughout the film. With them starting out as Woody not really liking Buzz and Buzz still thinking that he's a real person something which does give them conflict all through the film and yet we get to see to see that conflict go away after they have a deep heart to heart where it's revealed that Woody was jealous of Buzz because of the fact that Buzz can do things that he just can't with them coming to understanding that it was never about them getting back the house to prove a point but rather it was about getting bac to the house for Andy who loves them both equally with that understanding of what it truly means to be a toy being what helps to make them friends in the first place with the fact that there friendship is never perfect being something that makes it feel all the more real as they very easily could have a big falling out in the next film and refuse to never speak to each other again and it would make sense as these two character were treated more as real people and not as characters and while yes the film doesn't give them much room to grow as characters as you know right away that there going to end up being best friends and while that is indeed a bad thing part of what makes this film work is seeing the characters go on this journey and learn all of these life lessons as it would have been vert easy for PIXAR to be lazy for there first ever feature film and just give us a cookie cutter friendship but it's the fact that they went the extra mile to help us understand both sides of where these characters are coming from that helps to make there bond as friends be all the more real and it's something that alot of animated today are missing as alot of them do take the easy way by not making the characters have these deep feeling which just makes those films feel all the more lazy.

The one word that could be used to describe this film is uplifting as that's exactly what it is alot of the time. As while yes the film does of course have it's moments of doom and gloom as any film would do however it makes sure to sprinkle in moments of hope as well as that's what would keep the films target kid audience invested in the film and coming back for repeat viewings like for example we get scenes where Woody and Buzz think that Sid's toys are basically killing other toys only for it be revealed much later on in the film that al there doing is putting broken toys back together which is something does also tell kids the age old message of not to judge a book by it's cover as you never really know what there really like and this is were the film does shine really well as it then tells you that you never really know just what it is that your going to be getting next thus keeping you on your toes with another great example of this being the ever popular scene where Woody and Buzz are using the rocket strapped to Buzz's back as a way to get to Andy's car only for Woody to realise that there about to blow up with Buzz then opening his wings to break the tape and cause the two of them to effectively start flying and while that is a truly wonderful scene and one that will always bring a smile to my face it is also one that makes you wonder why Buzz just didn't try to open his wings when they were escaping Sid's house in the first place as that would have allowed them to catch up to the truck and make amends with all of the other toys as well but if they did happen then we wouldn't have gotten this truly wonderful with the two of them flying to Andy with the whole thing being capped of by the truly wonderful music by this films composer and song writer Randy Newman.

Out of all of the Toy Story villain Sid might be the weakest one just because of the fact that he doesn't have an evil scheme in mind and has no end goal. Yet at the same time unlike say Stinky Pete for example Sid is still a pretty creepy villain as he does blow up any toy that he wants to for little to no reason which is something that does help to make him a really creepy villain on top of the fact that he does torture all of his toys something which we do see in the film due to the fact that he causes Woody to get burnt and the fact that we see him "operating" on other peoples toys and yet at the same time Sid is only like that because of the fact that his mother really isn't in the picture due to the fact that all the time we see her in the film she's watching TV and there's clearly no father figure around so it is possible that Sid was just acting like this as a way to get attention from his mother as we see that both his sister Hannah and Andy are well behaved kids and yet Sid just isn't and while there might be better villains in this franchise none of them will be able to top just how creepy that Sid is due to the fact that he's a real person as realistically there could be a person like Sid on any of our streets as he's just a kid with behavioral issues issues which could be fixed and while it could be argued that Woody himself does fix those issues by scaring Sid by revealing that all of his toys are real it's also something that Sid's mother could have fixed just by giving her son just as much love and attention that she might give her daughter and judging by the fact that we do see Sid again in Toy Story 3 it's clear as day that he grew up to be a kind hearted person.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty one minuets and three seconds. Which s a solid running time for this film to have as the film doesn't feel like it's that long due to the fact that the film does spend alot of time in just setting up it's plot alone with the film kind of needing that running time in order to do it's plot justice in the first place with the film having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place with the film really using it's running time as wisely as it could have done as the film does spend the time to fully develop it's plot with the film setting up things in the plot and then pay them off later on in the film like the fact that we see how Woody got the match that he then uses to light the rocket to get them back to Andy by the end of the film and while yes the film would have been helped if it did spend more time on it's plot as that would have allowed the film to have more scenes that show how characters get things that impact the plot in a major way as it's that kind of attention to detail that helps make this film be all the more better with the film even taking the time to fully develop it's characters as all of the films characters get moments to shine in tis film and while it's only Buzz and Woody that get any real development in this film this is something that does make sense as they are meant to be the films main characters but it still would have been nice if we got to see Mr. Potato Head or even Hamm get any kind of character develop as they are parts of the group of toys that don't want Woody around anymore and yet we don't get a scene where they get to show that they've learnt something but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of really funny jokes in it all of which do work really well as there all really well written jokes with the film having alot of jokes that are aimed squarely for little kids but then it has just as many jokes that are aimed at adults with those jokes being just as funny as the ones that are aimed at little kids are as you can tell that the makers of this film out alot of thought and effort into this films jokes then they did anything else in the film with the best joke in the whole entire alot of the things that Mr. Potato Head says as alot of the things that he says is just pure comedic gold with him having this sarcastic sense of humor that works well in any scene that it's in and yet it's those kinds of jokes that help to set both the character and the film apart as while yes the film does have the kind of kid friendly jokes that you'd expect to see in a film like this one with the film doing a really good job of mixing adult humor with kid friendly jokes like for example we straight up get to see Buzz drunk and we get to see Woody refuse to use a swear word because of the fact that he's near preschool toys which are things that kids won't get at all but they are the kinds of jokes that adults will not only notice but will find to be really funny with Mr. Potato Heads more sarcastic jokes really hitting home just how funny that this film could be with it being made clear as day that the makers of this film knew how to make a funny film and just went all out with the best kinds of jokes that they could think off in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall even for PIXAR's first film you can still see the potential for great films as this is film that well and truly has stood the test of time due to the fact that it's main idea is one that is multigenerational and while both 4 and 5 are unneeded there is denying the fact that this film is still just as good as it ever was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 10 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review ell then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
