The Dukes Of Hazzard Film Review

It's not an uncommon practice in Hollywood for them to remake classic TV shows and turn them into movies heck it's something that is still going on to this very day. With alot of them all having the same thing wrong with them hat being that alot of them do miss the point on what it was that made the original show so special in the first place and so then join me as I review the film that has a massive continuity issue with it's own prequel film with the film in question being called simply just "The Dukes Of Hazzard" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when they forced out of there farm it's up to Bo and Luke to stop Boss Hoggs latest scheme in destroying the whole town for money before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with the plot of the film being one of the very few things that the film actually gets right as this does feel like a plot that the show would do as you can very easily picture Boss Hogg doing something like this just because he can and yet in saying this tho the films plot feels like the plot of an episode of the show only stretched out to almost two hours as while the films plot is one that you would want to see in a Dukes Of Hazzard movie it's also one that should have been handled alot more better something that would have been the case if the film was made by actual fans of the show and not by people who don't make good movies as while there is an attempt to get the shows spirit in it's plot the plot of the film itself is one that isn't that strong with the film picking up and dropping it's plot alot of the time not so much that it's hard to tell just what the plot of the film is meant to be but enough so that you notice when the film isn't focusing on it's plot as it's in the scenes where the film does focus on it's plot that the film actually feels like The Dukes Of Hazzard with the rest of time the film feels like it's wants to be anything other then a Dukes Of Hazzard movie with the plot of this film also not really being really rather entertaining and as well as not really being really rather engaging either as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Johnny Knoxville as Luke Duke, Seann William Scott as Bo Duke and Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke. Also starring in this film is Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg , Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse Duke , David Koechner as Cooter Davenport , M. C. Gainey as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane , Michael Weston as Deputy Enos Strate , Lynda Carter as Pauline Powers , James Roday Rodriguez as Billy Prickett , Kevin Heffernan as Derek "Sheev" Sheevington , Nikki Griffin as Katie-Lynn Johnson , Jacqui Maxwell as Annette , Alice Greczyn as Laurie Pullman and Junior Brown as The Balladeer.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films actors doing a passable job in this film but here's the issue all of this films actors feel miscast in the film with it being made clear as day that Jessica Simpson was only hired because of the fact that she's mildly famous and that's really it as she just doesn't have the acting ability to be in a feature length film with both Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott being at best OK with the pair of them being horribly miscast in this film this is despite the fact that the two of them do have some really good chemistry together with the best actor in the whole entire film being Seann William Scott as it feels like he's the only one that's trying to replicate the original character with him being as good as you'd expect him to be as he does have alot of charm and seeing him and Johnny Knoxville together is something that will always be fun to see this is despite the fact that both actors are really miscast in the film as surely you'd want to hire people who are actually these down to earth people who are country boys at heart and no go the opposite way when it comes to casting both Bo and Luke Duke for this film with the acting that's in this very film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives none of this films characters absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

To say that this films characters are really very badly done would be a huge understatement as all of this films characters are really very badly written. As all of this films characters have nothing about them that makes them close to how there were in the original TV show with Bo being turned into someone who wasn't the brightest bulb but still had his moments of being to now being someone who is dumber then a rock , Luke has now gone from someone who always put family first to someone who is only thinking about seducing another girl with all of the films characters being the exact opposite of how they were in the show with this being something that does say that the makers of this film didn't care about the show or about being true to the show rather they cared alot more about doing whatever they wanted with these truly iconic characters and in the process they lost what it was that made these iconic characters exactly that in the show as in the show they were all presented as people that knew how to get the job done when called who and people who valued family values other anything else and with this films versions of those same characters none of that comes through on screen as the makes of this films were alot more bothered about making this film more like a version of American Pie then they were about making a true Dukes Of Hazzard movie and while yes there is such a thing as creative liberty that is something that can only get you so far as even taking into account that all of this films characters re nothing like how they were in the show the films characters just aren't that interesting in the first place.

As was just mentioned this film is nothing like that the show that it's meant to be based off of with the film being way more adult and alot less family friendly then what the show was. Which is fine as you do need to do something to make your version different from the one that came before it but here it comes at the expense of what The Dukes Of Hazzard was originally as it's core it was a show about old fashioned family values and wasn't about Uncle Jessie swearing or getting high and nor was it about Daisy getting half naked every chance that she got rather it was about a family just trying to do the right thing and that's it and when you mess with that or when you change that in anyway whatsoever then you might as well be making something else as your going against what The Dukes Of Hazzard originally stood for in the first place with this being something that the The Dukes cartoon series knew to keep intact yet here it's gone and it's replaced with something that makes it something other then The Dukes Of Hazzard with original series actor John Schneider putting it best when he said "My gosh... it was terrible! It wasn't Dukes. It was true to whatever it was; I just don't know what that was!" with this film even being so bad that when the film first had it's premiere Johnny Knoxville even went up to Schneider just to apologize for bad the film is with this being something that very easily could have been fixed just by hiring people who were actually fans of the show to write , direct and produce this movie as that's the one thing that the live action The Flintstones movie actually got right and yet it's something that the makers of this film refused to do for no good reason whatsoever.

Look to be fair to this film this is a film hat is at least trying to be good as you can see actual effort put into this film. With that coming through with the characters of Boss Hogg and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane as both of those characters do feel like they were rightfully tuned up for the movie with Boss Hogg making for a delightful if somewhat campy main villain and Rosco making for a great secondary villain who is just trying to do his best at being the main villain and heck it's even alot of there scenes together where the film does somewhat work as you can tell right away that the movie versions of these characters are going to be more evil and are going to be doing alot mor evil things then what they could get away on the show with this being where the film being more adult does somewhat make sense as on the show you wouldn't be able to show Rosco stopping a bar fight just by shooting his gun or insult Cooter and yet those are one of the first things that he does in this film with even the fact that he swears when insulting Bo and Luke's car being something that in that moment is something that does make sense with the same thing even being true for Boss Hogg as his plan is something that does feel epic enough to be the plan for a movie villain to have and the fact that he's willing to go to these extreme measures is something that you wouldn't be able to do on a TV show budget now does that make them good no but it does show us that the makers of this film did know how to make a good film in certain scenes it's just a shame that the film is more focused on giving us badly done scenes then it is in giving us better scenes that further develop the villain maid plan as while it's hinted that Boss wants to get rid of the town for the money it's never outright stated.

With this film being a comedy film it does have some fairly decently funny bits in it but sadly the film isn't as funny as it thinks that it is. As the film does try to have a running joke with Bo fainting every time he sees this one girl which isn't funny despite the set up being pretty funny and Luke seemingly getting with every woman in town is something that could have some comedic potential but the film never really does anything with it and outright drops that joke after the first scene in the movie only to bring it up again right at the very end of the film with that joke not even being something that you could do all that much with but the things that you could do with it is something that could be funny like you could have the characters make a joke about Luke being a father or something like that which granted isn't that funny but it is something that does show you what a missed opportunity that a joke like that could be with the film not really having a joke that you could say is the best joke in the film as alot of the films jokes feel like they were written by a thirteen year old as there all the same kind of joke as there all jokes that only thirteen year old boys would find funny and that's really it which is fine for one or two jokes heck American Pie is basically a franchise built on those same types of jokes but even those films knew to switch it up every once in a while where as here in this film because of the fact that the characters aren't written like themselves they can't really do that many joes with the characters as they it would feel like that the film versions of the characters are now the ones acting out of character just for the sake of joke.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty six minuets and fifty seven seconds. Which again to be fair to this film is fairly solid running time for the film to have with the film even having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place and yet in saying this tho the film doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot with the film not really explaining things in the plot like why does Boss Hogg need to buy up all this land if he was trying to destroy the town as that is something that is quite literally a plot point in the film and yet they never explain it at all as the film does become more focused in giving us badly done versions of iconic TV series characters and in giving us alot of painfully unfunny scenes with this even effecting the films characters as none of them are given any kind of character development which is something that only works if your doing a film version of the show that features the acting from the show reprising their roles as then you could argue that the characters would get there development in the show but here in this film tho you don't have that excuse and yet the film still doesn't bother to give them any kind of character development when given the fact that the film is almost two hours long the makers of the film could have given the characters some form of character development as that is something that would have made the characters feel alot more well rounded and in turn make the film feel alot more better then what it actually is in the first place but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action fil that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being the best thing about the film as you can tell right away that the makers of this film put alot more thought and effort in this films action scenes then they did anything else as the films action does look really good with that being due to the fact that the films action scenes was filmed by Dan Bradley who has filmed the action for alot of really good action films including Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 amongst many other things as while the films action scenes is mostly just car chases that is something that you know is going to be a thing with a Dukes Of Hazzard film in the first place with the best action scene in the whole film being the car chase scene that pretty much lasts the entire third act of the film as that's where you get to see just how much cool things that they could do with the cars in this film with it only just being cars crashing into each other but we also have cars jumping off of things and we also have them pulling of these really cool looking turns all of which are things that do help to make this film be all the more entertaining then it really had any right to be with the only really memorable thing about this film is the films third act car chase this is despite the fact that the film does really have alot of really good action scenes in it as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall between this film and The Dukes Of Hazzard: The Beginning it's this film that's easily the better of the two films which granted isn't really saying all that much as both films are painfully bad films but this films does at the very least have some redeeming qualities that help to make the film OK at best in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very film from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
