Star Wars: The Clone Wars Film Review

Before he directed the entirety of the Ahsoka live action show and before he was due to direct his own live action Star Wars movie. People seem to have forgotten the fact that Dave Filoni already directed a Star Wars movie and it's one of the worst rated Star Wars movies with the film in question also serving as the pilot film to the hugely popular Star Wars; The Clone Wars TV show and so then join me as I review the film that introduces the character of Ahsoka Tano to the world of Star Wars with the film in question being called simply just "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Jabba The Hutts son is kidnapped it's up to Anakin and his new padawan Ahsoka Tano to locate and return the child before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as while the films plot does feel epic enough to be the plot of a film due to the fact that it's quite literally the first three episodes of the show edited together to form a movie the plot does stop and start alot of the time with the films plot feeling more like an extended episode of the show when it should be feeling like this plot is one that could only work in a movie while the films plot isn't the weakest Star Wars plot as there is some effort put into this films plot it's also feels like the makers of this film aren't putting there best foot forward with this film as this film is meant to be the pilot episode of the show and yet it spends so little time in setting up things for the show and instead spends alot more time in making sure that we the audience know that this is just three episode of the show edited together when it would have helped the film alot more if the film had just one plot line running through it and that that plot was one that could only be told in a movie as this is a plot that could have been the plot for an episode of the show as there's nothing really all that special about this films plot with the plot of this film not even being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker , Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano and James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and 4A-7. Also starring in this film is Dee Bradley Baker as The Clone Troopers , Tom Kane as Yoda , The Narrator and Admiral Yularen , Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress and TC-70 , Ian Abercrombie as Chancellor Palpatine / Darth Sidious , Corey Burton as Ziro The Hutt , Whorm Loathsom and KRONOS-327 , Catherine Taber as Padmé Amidala , Matthew Wood as The Battle Droids , Kevin Michael Richardson as Jabba The Hutt , David Acord as Rotta The Huttlet , Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu , Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and Sir Christopher Lee as Count Dooku / Darth Tyranus.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this being something that does make alot of sense as alot of this films actors are either reprising their roles from the prequel movies or Star Wars: Clone Wars either way they would have a good grip on how best to portray there respective characters and even those that are just joining the franchise with this film like for example Ashley Eckstein and Nika Futterman do such a good job at playing their respective characters that it does feel like that they've played these characters with all of this films characters being perfectly cast and even tho the film does replace two of the actors for this film with there prequel trilogy actors that is something that does work well for this film as the mainstream audience will recognise those actors as those characters with the best actor in the whole entire film being Ashley Eckstein as she brings a nervous energy to the character of Ahsoka that really does work with this film as well match where the character is timeline wise as well with it really being something that does help to make what could really have very easily have been seen as being a really annoying seem a little bit less annoying because of it with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does help to lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at CGCG and Lucasfilm Animation Singapore. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films animation being of a high quality for a TV show but it's also not movie quality animation either as it does look like that it was made for a TV show when there should have been an upgrade given to the films animation when George Lucas made the call to release this film in theaters as while this films animation does look really good alot of the time it also doesn't stand out from the animation in the show either when if you look at movies like The Simpsons Movie or The Bob's Burger's Movie or even the Spongebob Squarepants Movie yes they all looked like there respective shows but they all also knew that they had to upgrade there animation for the movie and that's something that this movie doesn't do which does add an air of cheapness to the film and while yes granted there might be practical reasons for the makers of this film not being able to upgrade the films animation it is something that does hold the film back and while the films characters do have some really fun designs to them the films backgrounds do for the most part look pretty bland and generic with there not really being much to tell one planet apart from another when this is usually a big strength in Star Wars movies but credit where it is due all of the films characters do also have some really fluid movements to them tho.

As was stated near the start of this review this film is basically made up of the first three episodes of the show. Something which you can tell right away as the film will spend about twenty two minuets on just one segment of the film before moving onto the next where it then again spends another twenty two minuets with this being something that does make it obvious that this film was just made up of three episodes of the show with there only being a loose story thread connecting them all together and that's it which if this was a made for TV movie then that wouldn't be so bad and people wouldn't be as harsh on this film as they usually are but because of the fact that this film was released into theaters it does mean that the film did have alot more eyes on it and because of that the film did get alot more negative reviews then what it would have done and whilst it is hard to tell on this is effected the ratings for first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is surely couldn't have helped the show out given the fact that this movie was only released in order to promote the show and yet it doesn't make the show look all that good and comes across as being a really bad movie as a result of it and yet if the makers of the film made an original film that was to serve as the pilot episode to the show and wasn't just three episodes of the show stitched together then this film might have faired a little bit better with audiences as the film would be something that would have had alot of attention put into making it the best that it could have done in the first place which in turn would have helped the show out as well as this film could then be seen as the makers of the show putting there best foot forward whereas due to the fact it was just three episodes edited together it can't do any of that whatsoever.

Whilst the whole idea of the Jedi hunting for the kidnapped son of Jabba is a good enough idea it's not one that you'd want to see in a Star Wars movie. As in a movie you expect the stakes to be bigger and to be more epic where as here if the Jedi fail then it just mean that they won't be able to get access to certain routes and that's it and that's just not that epic or grand enough for a Star Wars movie with this not really being helped by the fact that its the Sith are directly involved with this plan as all that does is make them seem childish when it would have made more sense if the sole villain of this film was Ziro The Hutt as he does come across as being a childish character that would have a plan like that and heck the film does reveal that he was involved with the kidnapping of Jabba's son so why not make him the sole villain of the film and have the characters that actually kidnapped him be people that work for Ziro with Ziro instead being the one to convince Jabba that Anakin ad the Jedi were the ones that kidnapped his son in the first place as that would then make the plan work for a movie whilst at the same time making the Sith still be these respected characters that only do these truly evil plots as there's nothing for them to gain by having the Jedi not being able to use these routes in the clone wars themselves as they very easily could just use somewhere else and achieve the same goal and yet because of the fact that the makers of this film wanted to have the Sith in this film it means that they get reduced to doing a plan that really is beneath them and Ziro who is meant to be a villain in this film and should have been the films only villain instead gets introduced so late into the film for him to have any real lasting impact on the film itself.

As alot of you will all no doubt be aware this film was the first piece of Star Wars media to introduce us to Ahsoka Tano. With the character here being a young Padawan basically on her first official day as a Jedi in training and while the character would develop into a much more stronger character over the course of not only the TV show but also shows like Star Wars: Rebels and to a lesser extent the Ahsoka live action TV show as well here in this film she is basically just an annoying little kid character who is only there to attract a little kid audience as while she does indeed serve a purpose to the films plot as it's her that does rescue Rotta and carry him for the vast majority of the films running time she is also a really annoying character so much so that it was easy to see why people didn't like her when she first appeared as you could distill her character down to the fact that she makes jokes and is very impatient alot of the time and whilst having her like that for the start of the movie does make sense as she does need to have an arc to grow as a character she remains like that all throughout the rest of the film so much so that I did find myself routing for the films villains to kill her this is despite the fact that she does go onto become one of the best Star Wars characters in modern day Star Wars with the only way to fix her character in this film is to tone down the snarkyness of the character and show of more of her caring side as that's when the character gets to be interesting an actually likable and while it is understandable that she makes jokes alot of the time it would have been handy if the makers of this film did cut down on the amount of jokes that she makes as alot of them do undercut the tension of the film quite a bit.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty eight minuets and twenty six seconds. Which to be fair to this film is a perfectly solid running time for this film to have in the first place as the film does get across all that needs to in that amount of time however tho this film really doesn't have alot of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place with this mainly being due to the fact that the film is made up of multiple episodes of the show and that's really it when it would have helped the film out if this film had more then enough plot to cover this amount running time as right now the film only has enough plot to cover about one hour and that's really it with this film not even using it's running time all that wisely either as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot as the film is more focused on getting to it's various episodes then it is in telling a good story with even key characters in the story being introduced very late in the game that they can't have that big of an impact on the films plot with this even effecting the films character development as really the only two characters that get any kind of character development being Anakin and Ahsoka themselves and that's really it with both of them having to learn to work together with the rest of the films characters even those that are important to the plot of the film getting nothing interms of character when they really should have gotten some form of character development and granted all of the films characters would get more well developed over the course of the show but they also should have gotten something in the way of character development when it comes to this film as well but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being the best part of the film as that's where the film gets to be the most fun and feel like a Star Wars film with the only thing that lets this films action down being the fact that we get an action scene every twenty minuets which does get a little tiring as we the audience don't get much of a chance to catch our breathes before the next one starts up again whereas if the film paced it's action scenes out a bit better then it would mean that they could have more of an impact on the film as a whole with the films best action being the films opening battle scene as we get to see not only Obi-Wan and Anakin helping to take on a lot of battle droids but we also get to see just what it is that the clones can do as well with that action scene even getting across the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin with Anakin being the kind of character who will leap first before looking and Obi-Wan being the type of character to plan out everything before even taking a single step something which we do get to see in the films opening battle scene with Anakin doing more of the crazy plans like hiding under a box just to find a way to take down an opposing sides shields for example with the rest of this films action being really fun and exciting to watch as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this is a film that alot of people might have forgotten about and rightfully so as it is one that's pretty bad and while people say that the Disney Star Wars films are bad they seem to be forgetting about this film but this is a film that does also have plenty of good things in it as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things thar are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as swell as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
