Robocop 3 Film Review

The common rule with films in general is that the first one is good , the second one is better and the less said about the third film the better. While there are some exceptions to this rule an example of this would be the Avengers movies , the Back To The Future trilogy and the first three Toy Story films with another exception to this being the Robocop movies as each installment has been less and less good when compared to the first film and even the 2014 remake which is still a little bit better then this film is still a pretty bad film and so then join me as i review the film that kills on the Anne Lewis character with the film in question being called simply just "Robocop 3" enjoy.

The plot of this film is after OCP has been bought out by a Japanese company they set out moving out all of the residents of a poor neighborhood so that they can destroy it for good with the only thing that's able to stop them being a bunch of rebels and Robocop. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as this is a plot that doesn't feel like a Robocop plot as while yes he did go up against OCP in the previous two films it was usually because of the fact that they were directly tied into whatever crime that the police where trying to stop in that particular film with them really never being the main focus of the previous two films which was something that made them feel all mighty and powerful where as here because of the fact that they are the main reason why these people are being forced out of there homes in the first place it oddly makes them feel more weak as characters with the films plot even being oddly toned down when compared to the plots of the previous two movies all of which do make this film feel like a parody of a Robocop film then a legitimately good Robocop movie with the plot of this film even just coming and going as and when it pleases which is something that does make it hard to tell just what the main plot of the film is even meant to be alot of the time and while the previous two films had plot did also do that it was very rare and they never let you forget what the main plot of the film was in those movies where as here it was hard to say just what the main plot of the film is meant to be because of the fact that it disappears for large portions of the films running time with the plot of this film not even being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Robert Burke as Officer Alex Murphy / RoboCop and Carrie star Nancy Allen as Officer Anne Lewis. Also starring in this film is Jill Hennessy as Dr. Marie Lazarus , Remy Ryan as Nikko Halloran , John Castle as Paul McDaggett , Bruce Locke as Ōtomo , Jodi Long as Keiko Halloran , John Posey as David Halloran , Mako as Kanemitsu , Felton Perry as Donald Johnson , Robert DoQui as Sergeant Warren Reed , Bradley Whitford as Jeffrey Fleck , CCH Pounder as Bertha , Daniel von Bargen as Moreno , Stanley Anderson as Zack , Stephen Root as Coontz , Mario Machado as Casey Wong , Eva LaRue as Debbie Dix , Shane Black as Donnelly , S.D. Nemeth as Bixby Snyder , Jeff Garlin as A Donut Jerk , Lee Arenberg as A Hold-Up Man and Men In Black star Rip Torn as The Unnamed CEO Of OCP.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not the best. As the acting quality in this film is pretty bad but at the same time tho this films acting is the least offensive thing in this film as the films actors are indeed still trying to turn in a good performance it's just that the films director Fred Dekker really doesn't know how to get a good performance out of his actors with alot of them just feeling lost and unsure of themselves with the same thing even being true for the films returning actors as well as alot of them aren't given the screen time that they earned to turn in a good performance with alot of them being nothing more then OK at best and while Robert Burke as passable as Alex Murphy he's just not going to top what Peter Weller did with the character as while Burke has the voice down for the character he lacks any of the movements that helped to bring the character to live with Burke even being the best actor in this film as when it comes to the films more newer actors it does feel like that he's the only one that's actually trying to turn in a good performance even if he psychically doesn't look like Robocop and can barely fit into the Robocop suit with the acting that's in this film not even being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first lace which is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

To say that this film does the Anne Lewis character would be a huge understatement as not only is she very poorly written when compared to the previous two films but she also gets killed off in this film as well. With the character only being killed of because of the fact that she refused to bring her bullet proof vest with her and that's it something that no police officer regardless of if there on duty or not would do with this being something that the Lewis in the previous two films would refuse to do as she is a legitimately good and smart cop where as here she's written as someone who really doesn't know all that much about being cop and because of that she ends up making a mistake that only a rookie cop would make all of which was done so that the makers of this film could kill her off and while her death is something that does motivate Robocop for the rest of the movie which is a smart move as the two of them are indeed best friends and therefor it does make sense that Robocop would want to seek out vengeance for her death but it shouldn't come at the expense of writing her as a good character as you very easily could have had killed off in the line of duty during the films first act when she and a bunch of other cops finds themselves in a gangs territory as that would make sense and would treat the character with some sort of respect and would also give the character of Robocop a mini arc in the movie as he wasn't there for much of that first act shoot out and so he might not have been able to save Lewis from getting shot in the first place something which he could then deal with all throughout the rest of the film.

As with alot of adult movies from the eighties the Robocop franchise also spawned a kids animated series that was designed to sell toys With the toys being so popular that they pretty much forced both Robocop 2 and this film to be less graphic and more family friendly and while the second film did manage to retain some of the edge that the first film had this film has none of it as while yes it does have characters swearing like there sailors it doesn't have any of the satire from the first two films and it doesn't have any of the over the top gore with the villains in this film instead being killed of explosions happening behind them rather then bullet hitting them with one of the only characters to get killed off in a way that's befitting a Robocop villain being oddly enough Lewis herself who gets shot in the chest several times and heck this film even commits a very bad sin that alot of movies from the nineties seemed to make and that's the fact that this film has a kid character who for no reason whatsoever knows how to hack with the character of Nikko even hacking into ED-209 near the start of the film and yet they legitimately never use him after that one scene near the start of the movie even tho he could have come in very useful when OCP attacks the rebels base all of this was done to appease the kid audience that never saw the original two movies when the makers of this film should tried to appease the adults that did watch those movies as they would know the characters just as well as the kids who watched the animated series but because of the fact that the makers of this film thought that kids should be this films target audience it means that we get a more watered down product just to give you an idea of how bad this is imagine if say the Trolls animated shows by Dreamworks were fully adult cartoons and not the kid friendly shows that they were designed to be that would totally miss the point and it's the same thing here just because the Robocop toys were popular doesn't mean that the movies needed to be dumbed down to appeal to an audience that most likely weren't old enough to watch the first two movies to begin with.

While it might seem like it's all doom and gloom for this movie which it for the most part there is some reasoning about why it is the way that it is and why the films looks the way that it looks. With it being because of the distribution company behind the Robocop movies Orion Pictures were going out of busisness and where baking on a third Robocop movie to essentially save them as that was there biggest franchise at the time with this being why this film looks as cheap as it does as they just couldn't put as much money into it as they would have done just a few years prior with the company even going under when this film finished filming all the way back in 1991 with it only seeing the light of day when Orion finally released the film with them having to postpone the release date several times after announcing that the film would be released in 1993 because of the act that they couldn't find enough worldwide distributors for the film with the film only lacking finished visual effects before the company decided to release with the film being released in Japan and other Asian countries years earlier by Columbia TriStar Entertainment all of which does explain not only why the film looks cheap but also why the films effects don't look as good as effects from other films from around the time period as they just simply didn't have enough money to put into the films effects to make them as good as the effects in the previous two film and even the Robocop suit wasn't made for this movie as it's the same suit that was made for Robocop 2 with the makers of this film even being told that they weren't allowed to alter the suit to make it look like that it actually fit Robert Burke as it would just cost alot of money for them to do that.

To be frank the company that takes over the OCP The Kanemitsu Corporation just isn't as formidable as the OCP was. As they literally had there fingers in many pies all over Detroit and therefor they could even be your boss without you even realizing it where as with the Kanemitsu Corporation they come across more as being school bullies as whenever they don't get there way in this film they send out the military type outfit that they own and created to threaten people which is great for one or two scenes but when that's all they do all it does is make them look like weak villains whereas the OCP didn't have to do any of that as they were smarter then that they knew when to cause violence and when to sit still and do nothing and more often then not them doing nothing was more threatening then them doing something as you you knew that they were planning something you just didn't know what it is was until it was to late and yet here in this film there made to look like chumps as they are brought by the Kanemitsu Corporation off screen and are then pretty much forced to team up with Robocop they very person that they hate the must and who hates them the most just to take them down when it makes no sense for either of them to be teaming up with each other in the first place as Robocop could and should have very easily have taken them both on by himself but for whatever reason the makers of this film thought that the OCP was a weak set of villains it does mean that we get a new bunch of villains that just aren't that good as people will always remember The Old Man from the previous two films but will very quickly forget Paul McDaggett and Kanemitsu.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty four minuets and fifty seconds. Which to be fair to this film is pretty much the exact grand total running time that you'd expect a film like this to have but in saying that tho this film really doesn't have alot of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place with the film only having enough plot to cover around forty five minuets with alot of this film being nothing more then filler scenes that adds nothing to the overall plot of the film as we don't need to see more of Alex having memories of his wife as the second and first film already covered how that effects him and we don't need to see scenes of the police struggling with Kanemitsu taking control as that doesn't play that much into the films plot as all the makers of this film had to do if they wanted to get this film up to feature length if just develop it's main plot and that's really it with the film not even using it's running time all that wisely either as neither the plot nor it's characters are that well developed with the plot of the film being very weakly done due to the fact that it does feel like that the characters are just doing things at random rather then because of the fact that the plot of the film demands that they do it with the films characters not even being that well developed with the best example of this being Nikko herself who really is just the stereotypical nineties kids movie character with her knowing how to hack for no reason whatsoever amongst many other things all of which do make this films characters perhaps the worst characters in the original Robocop trilogy but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films action being the best of the film with this mainly due to the fact that they keep on using the main Robocop theme alot of the time and not due to anything that actually happens in the main film itself as without that theme song playing this films action would at best be quite dull and lifeless as there's nothing that's all that interesting that happens during this films many action scenes with the best action scene in the whole film being when Robocop finally gets himself hooked up to a jetpack and goes flying out of the rebels base into the middle of Detroit whilst firing his gun at all of the enemy forces just to save a few people and members of the police which is a really cool scene to watch and if the rest f this films action had more of those cool moments in it then they wouldn't need to keep n playing the Robocop theme to make the action cool as it would just be cool like the attack on the enemy base that Robocop does in the films second act that has the potential to be cool with Robocop spewing one liners ad using his flamethrower to light the whole place on fire but there's nothing that really makes that scene stand out and be just this purely awsome scene and so the makers of this film have the Robocop theme playing over it to make it cool when all they really had to do was add something new or interesting to it to make it cool in the first place and it's sadly like this with all of this films many action scenes as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while the Robocop remake is still a pretty film one thing that can be agreed upon is that it's miles better then what this film is as this film just misses the mark on what it is that makes a good Robocop film all for no good reason whatsoever where as the 2024 Robocop film at the very least tried to recapture the spirit and tone of the original film something that film filed to do in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Robocop fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
