Spider-Man 3 Film Review

For a long time the rule with superhero films was the first was good , the second one was better and the third one was really bad. Something which is very much the case for the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today as this film is so bad that it forced Sony to reboot it after failing to get a fourth film of the round and it's co-writer and director Sam Raimi hates with him even calling the film awful in a 2104 interview and so then join me as I review the film that has far to many villains for it's own good with the film in question being called simply just "Spider-Man 3" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a villain named Flint Marko escapes from prison and an alien named calling itself Venom attaches itself to Peter and his best friend becomes The New Goblin it's up to Spider-Man to defeat all of these foes once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho this films plot quite clearly isn't all that good with either with it feeling like a huge stepdown interms of quality from what we got in the first two films as there you could at least tell that there was actual thought and effort thrown into the plots of those films where as here it felt like that the makers of this film had not only just turned the first draft of the films script but where also just throwing things at the wall to see what stuck and in the process we ended up with a film that's a complete and total mess of a film from a plot point of view as there's just to much going on but at the same time tho this films plot does have it's moments of being good like the plot with Harry loosing his memory which does undo everything that the second film did for literally no reason but it still was something that was quite interesting to see in the film as was seeing the development of the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane but those are the only positives about this films plot as this films plots isn't really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Also starring in this film is James Franco as Harry Osborn / New Goblin , Thomas Haden Church as Flint Marko / Sandman , Topher Grace as Edward "Eddie" Brock Jr. / Venom , Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy , James Cromwell as Captain George Stacy , J. K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson , Dylan Baker as Dr. Curt Connors , Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin , Ted Raimi as Ted Hoffman , Bill Nunn, as Joseph "Robbie" Robertson , Michael Papajohn as Dennis "Spike" Carradine , John Paxton as Bernard Houseman , Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant , Cliff Robertson as Ben Parker and Rosemary Harris as May Parker.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty just as good as it was in the other films. Which is something that does make alot of sense as all of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors in their own right and did turn in some really good performances in all of the Spider-Man films before and so it does make sense that they would do the exact same thing here with the films acting even being one of the very few saving graces that this film has to offer as that's just how good all of this films actors are as they all bring that extra special something to there roles that makes them good in this film and while it would be very easy to point to one of the films many returning actors as being the best actor in this film but that honor will instead go to Thomas Haden Church as he brings a certain humanity to his role with him making his version of Flint Marko seem alot more sympathetic then what we've seen from any villain thus far in these films which is something that really does work well enough for this film as while the films have always had characters that Peter gets close to be the main villain of the film here we get a character that's just being introduced and yet his performance makes the character feel human with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work of interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Sony Pictures Imageworks , Imageworks , USC Centers For Creative Technologies , CafeFX , Giant Killer Robots , BUF , Evil Eye Pictures , Tweak Films , Furious FX , Eden FX , Look Effects , Digital Dream , X1fx and Amalgamated Dynamics. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the film does have some really pretty impressive looking CGI in it which is impressive given the year that this film was released in as comic book movies back in 2007 didn't typically have that good CGI in them and those that did were the exception and not the rule which makes it all the more impressive to see that alot of this films effects have aged really well with the best example of this films effects being The Sandman himself as while there are times where the effects on the character do look like the the kind of effects that you'd expect to see in an early Playstation 3 game cutscene the effects on that character on the whole do look really good with the same thing also being true for alot of the effects when it comes to the villains however the film does also have some really bad looking effects in it as well like the whole underground train fight scene which while it's not as bad as the final fight in Black Panther it still does look pretty with it looking like a video game cutscene alot of the time and yet when Spider-Man isn't swinging around underground that's when it actually looks pretty decent.

While the 1994 Spider-Man animated TV show did the Gwen Stacy character alot more better and while The Amazing Spider-Man films featured the character alot more. This is the film that introduced the character to the world of live action and whilst she doesn't get alot of screen time in this film with her basically being an extended cameo what little screen time that the character does have does make her feel like a natural addition to this film and the world that this film takes place in as here she's not the girlfriend of Peter Parker but rather the girl friend of Eddie Brock and she's not a scientist she's an aspiring model which is something that does work for her character but that's all we get out of her character and that's makes her inclusion in this film feel really pointless as her role in the film could have been filled by any other female character and it work just as well with her inclusion in this film being another example of the makers of this film just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks as if this films script was given a few more re-writes then maybe something interesting could have been with her character but because of the fact that there's just so much going on with all of this films new characters it does mean that some characters were going to fall threw cracks as was the case with Gwen Stacy and while her not getting all that much to do or even being used in the right way doesn't effect the plot of this film in the slightest way possible it would have helped the film if she was used better something that the makers of this film or more then capable of doing given the fact that Sam Raimi knows how to write characters and use them in great ways.

It's been said quite a few times now in this review but it bares saying again but this film has so much going on. With the film having three villains all of which take up the role of being the films main villain at somepoint during the film which does make it hard to keep track of who is actually meant to be the films main villain with it seeming like the mantra behind this film was to include more of everything and that's just not something that will ever work in any film as sometimes less will equal more something that was proven true just one film prior as both Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 both had one villain and because of that it was alot more easier for us the audience to fully engage with that character and to form any kind of connection with them and it also made the film alot more focused as well as Spider-Man had just one foe to take out where as here he has three foes to beat and that's two to many as it makes the film alot less focused as one minuet he's facing Harry and then the next minuet he and Harry are friends whilst Spider-Man is taking on The Sandman and then finally when The Sandman is seemingly defeated he takes on Venom with The Sandman aiding Venom and then Harry comes to aid Peter all of which do make this film a very confusing mess of a film which wasn't the case with the two films as they only had the one villain which made it alot more easier for us the audience to understand not only the villains motive but what there backstory was as well be it wanting more power to just plain and simply wanting more money and that is something that can't be true here as the film has so many villains to set up that it does make it hard for us the audience to care about any of them even if one of them has been in these films from the very beginning.

While there are quite alot of bad things to say about this film there are also a few good things about this film as well. Like the fact that the film does do a semi decent job of setting up all of it's villain characters even if there are so many of them in the first place and the fact that the film does do a really good job of showing us the audience just how the symbiote effects not only Spider-Man but also how it effects Peter Parker as it makes Spider-Man all the more deadly even to the point where he's willing to kill The Sandman something that he never would have considered doing in any of the previous two films and it effects Peter Parker by making this arrogant person that is very quick to anger and because of that people have to walk on egg shells when around him as if they say the wrong thing to him then he could snap at them which is so unlike the Peter Parker character that it does work for this more anger filled version of him and to be fair to this film they do tie it into the origin of the Venom character in away that does make sense as all throughout the film we see the symbiote Peter Parker either say or do things that makes Eddie Brock look bad with it getting to the point where Eddie gets fired because of the fact that Peter makes him believe that one of the pictures that Eddie took was a fake picture which does come together when we arrive at the church where Peter just tears the suit of himself and bits of it fall down onto Eddie Brock and whilst that was something that again was done better in the animated series it is something that does work well here in this film as well even tho this films version of Venom is really bad with it working in this film because of the fact that we've seen Peter mentally torturing Eddie Brock.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and nineteen minuets and eleven seconds. Which again to be fair to this film is pretty much the exact grand total running tome for all three of these Spider-Man movies with this film having more then plot there to cover that amount of running time but this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as it can't develop it's plot all that well due to the fact that we have characters fighting for screen time in this film and because of the fact that we have so many different plots all going on at the same time which does make it hard to keep track of what's going on in the main plot of the film with even the films main plot struggling to get screen time due to how many different plots that the film has going on in it with this even effecting the films character development as the film can't really develop all of it's characters as it has to rush along to the next plot point and because of that none of the films characters get any sort of development as they are all fighting with each other for screen time with this being something that could have very easily been fixed just by cutting down on the amount of new characters as you only need or two new characters with them being the villain and maybe a new ally for Peter Parker and that's really it it's something that worked in Spider-Man 2 so we know that it works and heck it worked in The Amazing Spider-Man as both films has a very few amount of main characters and because of that they could both develop there plots and develop there characters something which this film can't do due to how many new characters it has to set up and introduce but I really will admit that this film really does have some really pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films action being of the films few highlights as we do get to see some pretty impressive action in this film and while nothing will ever be able to the clock tower fight in Spider-Man 2 as that scene does still hold up really well today there are some action scenes in this film that looked really good back then and whilst they might not look as good today do still work really well with the best example of this being the underground train fight as when that fight isn't being bogged down by obviously CGI trains and it's just to the two characters going at it it can be a pretty fun scene however that scene is trumped by what is quite easily the best action scene in the whole entire movie with that being the films third act as we get to see Spider-Man later New Goblin take on both The Sandman and Venom at the same time with all four characters really getting the chance to show off just what they can do and whilst yes granted this is scene is also let down by it's CGI this time being the digital doubles of it's human characters the scene on the whole is still a pretty good and at times incredibly tense scene and one that is filled to the brim with cool moments in it as it will always be a cool seeing this many characters dong what they do best in an all out b*lls to the wall action scene and while the rest of this films action is really good as well it's just that that one was alot more better in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it's not that hard to see why the franchise got rebooted after this film as it's just such a bad film that to do a sequel when they first wanted to just wouldn't have worked with this film having more bad things about it then it does have good things about this is despite the fact that there are some semi decent things to be found in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Spider-Man films fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Google Images this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from Google Images are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Google Images really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
