Godzilla, Mothra And King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack Film Review

Godzilla movies will always be fun and weird little movies to watch as even tho they started from a place of warning us against nuclear weapons and the harm that they can do. By the time that they got to the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today they became something completely different and so then join me as I review the film that has what might be the longest title in Godzilla franchise history with the film in question being called simply just "Godzilla, Mothra And King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a creature called Baragon accidentally awakens Godzilla it's up Baragon Mothra and King Ghidorah to find away to take down the king of the monsters once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as much like alot of the other Godzilla films this film doesn't have a deep and thought provoking plot to it as it doesn't need one as all you need in order to make a Godzilla plot work is just enough to work out why Godzilla is attacking Japan this time around and that's really it and to this films credit it does give us exactly that with the plot of this film being just as insane as the title would suggest as we get to see all of the monsters in this film do alot of insane stuff and all of it work because of the fact that this films plot is just insane the best way to describe this films plot is that it's like any of the Fast & Furious movies in that yes it's a dumb plot nobody is going to ever deny that but because of the act that the film has such a fun time with it's plot you can't help but buy into it and have alot of fun with it as this is a plot that doesn't require you to use you brain it just requires you sit there and enjoy it and that's really it and while yes this film plot could have been alot more better then what it really was the same thing could also be said for alot pf Godzilla films as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Chiharu Niiyama as Yuri Tachibana and Ryūdō Uzaki as Admiral Taizo Tachibana. Also starring in this film is Masahiro Kobayashi as Teruaki Takeda , Shirō Sano as Haruki Kadokura , Hideyo Amamoto as Professor Hirotoshi Isayama , Kaho Minami as Intelligence Captain Kumi Emori , Shinya Owada as Lt. General Mikumo , Kunio Murai as HQ Secretary Masato Hinogaki , Hiroyuki Watanabe as Commander Yutaka Hirose , Shingo Katsurayama as SDF Intelligence Major Tokihiko Kobayakawa , Akira Ohashi as King Ghidorah and A Yaizu Fishery Cooperative Clerk , Rie Ōta as Baragon and A Yaizu Fishery Cooperative Clerk and Mizuho Yoshida as Godzilla and An Onlooker In Kagoshima.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this review is being based off of the dubbed version of the film I can't really speak for the acting in the original cut of the film with those actors only being listed because of the fact that there's no cast list for the dub actors out there with the actors that the makers of this film got to do the dubbing for this film turning in some really good performances with alot of the characters sounding pretty much just how you'd think that they would sound something that is usually very hit and miss for a Japanese Godzilla film and while the films dub actors turn in some really good performances as do the films original actors as well with the performance really holding the film all together with the films best actor from the original actors and the dubbed ones being Chiharu Niiyama as she really does carry the whole human plot of the film and while the humans story will never be as interesting as seeing Godzilla wiping another Japanese city of the map she really does turn in a good performance in this film with the same thing really being true for the actor that they got to dub her character as well with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really goes help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

For those of you that don't know this film is set in a continuity where only the original 1954 film happened with all of the other Godzilla films both good and bad not existing in this continuity. Which basically means that in this film Godzilla is just straight up the bad guy with all of the other monsters including Ghidorah for some reason all being good guys while having the king of the monsters be the bad guy again does work for this film as after all that's how he started out and alot of the best godzilla films have him be the bad guy what doesn't work is the fact that King Ghidorah is now also the bad guy and yet he's meant to be Godzilla's biggest and more fearsome foe and yet here he is actually like his best friends with Mothra which just doesn't work as that's not in his character to do so if the makers of this film wanted to have Godzilla be the bad guy again then great do that as that's in his character to do so as well but also keep King Ghidorah in character as well and heck it would have made the film all the more awsome if they had Godzilla and Ghidorah team up for this film rather then have them fighting each other as this way you can have Ghidorah betray Godzilla and have the two of them fight with Godzilla reluctantly teaming up with Mothra something that would work for this version of the character and yet for some odd reason they chose to have Ghidorah act out of character by being one films main heroes for no other reason then to have his name on the poster of the film and that's really it as the character doesn't really do anything of note throughout the film where as Mothra at least tries to stop Godzilla from rampaging through Japan with the only thing that Ghidorah does is join in the fight in the films third act and that's really it.

This film is rather infamous as it not only makes reference to the American Godzilla film but it also mocks it in the films opening scene. With a character saying to another one that even tho the Americans think that they've been through a Godzilla attack there scientists believe different which was just such a nice jab at that movie as the makers of the Japanese Godzilla films really hated what the Americans did to him with it even being stated that one of the people at Toho said at one point that they took the god out of Godzilla which to be fair they did kind of that but at the same time tho there really was no need to to reference that movie like they did in this one as all it does is make them look petty and childish but they would get even more childish in Godzilla: Final Wars th when there version of Godzilla beats the American version in a fight in less then forty seconds which whilst that was fun to see in that film was also kind of uncalled for as they more the made there point with there comments about the character in this film but to there credit tho they do only reference the 1998 Godzilla film once and that's really it when if they really hated it and really wanted to be childish and petty they could have mentioned it a few more times but doing just the ones serves as a nice tip of the hat to the American fans of this character as well as all of the die hard fans of the character as well as lets be honest here they would be the only ones that understood just what it was that they were referencing in the first place and not the mainstream audience as they would have no idea just how the Japanese makers of the Godzilla felt about the American Godzilla film and therefor would have no idea just why two of the characters in this film are referencing an attack in American from Godzilla in the first place.

While the human story wasn't all that interesting what was interesting was seeing three monsters trying to come together to beat the king of the monsters. With the very idea of having Godzilla having to take on three monsters at once is a good idea it's something that would have been even better if all three of them got to take on Godzilla from different angles as both Mothra and Ghidorah can only take him out from the air which leaves Baragon to only attack him head on and Baragon just isn't strong enough to do that due to the fact that Godzilla has a tail which he can and does use to great advantage during the films many action scenes where as if the film had monsters that could not only attack him him from the air but also on the ground it would not only give Godzilla more of a challenge as now he would have no clue where the net hit is coming from but it would also mean that the monsters would have a more stronger chance of beating him as well and with all three monster being portrayed as guardian monsters it would make more sense for them to try and help each other out in times of need instead of relying on the humans to help them out as who else would know how to attack Godzilla the best then those that are sword to fight against him but on the flip side of that is the fact that giving the humans something to do in the fight against Godzilla does make for a refreshing change of pace as it would have been super easy to just copy what all of the other Godzilla movies had done with the human characters and have them stay away from the main fight but not this film shakes things up by having them actively get involved which is something that does make the human characters in this film alot more better off then alot of the other human characters as these ones are very proactive in trying to find out ways to stop Godzilla and aren't just relying on Baragon . Mothra and Ghidorah to do it for them.

While the human story isn't really anything all that new as the only interesting aspect of it is the fact that Yuri wants to make some science fiction shows and not the docudrama's that she's being forced to make because there cheap and very easy to produce. What was interesting from the human characters point of view was seeing how Yuri goes from this willing hero who is more then willing to get up close and personal with Godzilla to someone who is willing to fight him with whatever weapons the army will give her as that's something that we really hadn't seen before in any of the Godzilla films both Japanese and not and to the films credit it does give that aspect pf the film alot of attention but what was just as shocking was the fact that this film is basically an origin story for Mothra , Ghidorah and Baragon as in this films timeline that only Godzilla attack was the first one in 1954 and that's and because of that is the fact that we get to see all of these new origins for these famous monsters like the fact that for the vast majority of the film Ghidorah isn't the King Ghidorah that we all know and love as he's lacking alot of the powers that he has and yet when Mothra gives him the last bit of her life force when Godzilla kills her with his atomic breath he then starts to glow and becomes the monster that we're all familiar with with even Mothra spending alot of time in her Lava form with the only monster coming fully formed being shockingly Baragon with him being the only one that really gets a one on one fight with Godzilla during which we get to see just what it is that he brings to the fight as well as get reminded of just how powerful Godzilla really is.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty five minuets and nineteen seconds. Which to be fair is pretty much the bogstandard running time for the Godzilla films to have around this time period with this film having just about the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time but tho with that being said tho whilst the film does use it's running in one respect in that it does develop it's plot as far as it really could have done even taking into account that alot of Godzilla films don't have fully developed plots in the first place and the fact that you'd not really go to see a Godzilla film for it's plot where this film doesn't use it's running time all that wisely was the fact that it doesn't develop it's human characters all that well as all of them just come across as being really one dimensional characters with nothing really new or even interesting added to the, to make them standout and while yes granted you also don't go to a Godzilla film for deep and interesting characters but given that there playing a big part in the film and always have done it is something that would have helped the film out quite alot of the film did give us some interesting characters as then we the audience can have a chance to decide on which of the human characters that we like in the first place as outside of Yuri the film doesn't give us a reason to like any of these human characters outside of the fact that there trying to survive an attack by Godzilla and that's really it which doesn't work as it's not enough to make us feel anything for these characters but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As even in alot of the painfully bad Godzilla films it will always be alot of fun just seeing Godzilla going to town and wreaking a Japanese city something that we do get to see all throughout this film with the thing that sets this film part being the fact that we get to see Godzilla take on three monsters at once during the films third act and it's for that that very reason alone that this films third act is quite the best action scene in the whole entire film as it will always be alot of fun seeing Godzilla fighting more then one monster at once with this film giving us a good look at what alot of the monsters can do in a fight with even Godzilla using both his Atomic Breath and Heat Ray to great effect with him using his Atomic Breath to kill both Mothra and Baragon whilst also mortally wounding Ghidorah and while the fact that it's the humans that get to kill Godzilla could be seen as being a tad bit anti-climatic it is something that does make alot of sense given the fact that he's just survived what is basically a three on one handicap match and won and while that might be the best action scene in the film the film really does excel in creating some really good action scenes with it being clear as day that the makers of this film put alot of thought and effort into creating some really good and exciting action in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it's not hard to see why this is a fan favorite as if your willing to just turn your brain off and watch this film there is a really fun and enjoyable film here but at the same time tho it does have alot of the faults that all of the Godzilla films do seem to have and because of that and the fact that they do take an unneeded swipe at the 1998 American Godzilla film this one does feel like that it was made out of spite and not out of love for the character and really nothing more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this veery review from the official Godzilla fandom wiki page , Wikizilla and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great Wikizilla this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great Wikizilla are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid Wikizilla really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
