Snow White 2025 Film SPOILER FILLED Review
There are some films that really should never ever be remade and Disney has just released one such a film. With them now just releasing their live action remake of their very first movie and this is something that they should never have done simply due to how important that original movie is not only to Disney themselves but also to the world of animation and yet by releasing this remake they are spitting on the legacy of those that made the original film and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that really didn't nee to be made in the first place with the film in question being called simply just "Snow White" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when her evil stepmother The Queen tries to have her killed Snow White fleas into the forest where she meets seven dwarfs and they all have to come together to stop The Evil Queen once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's mainly due to the fact that this film commits the biggest sin that alot of these live action Disney remakes seem to commit and that's by having the exact same plot as the original film say what you will about both The Jungle Book and 2016 and Alice In Wonderland 2010 but they at the very least had different plots to the original films or added enough things to there own plot that it makes them feel new and different again where as here nothing new is added to the plot of the film to make this films version of the plot interesting or even worth watchin for that matter with the films plot elements playing out the exact same way and in the exact same order which does make this film rather pointless not only to watch but also to make as well as why would you want to watch a lesser version of a story when you can just watch the better version of that exact same story with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Rachel Zegler as Snow White , Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Ansu Kabia as The Huntsman. Also starring in this film is George Appleby as Quigg , Colin Michael Carmichael as Farno , Samuel Baxter as Scythe , Jimmy Johnston as Finch , Dujonna Gift as Maple , Idriss Kargbo as Bingley , Jaih Betote as Norwich , Jeremy Swift as Doc , Tituss Burgess as Bashful , Andrew Barth Feldman as Dopey and This Films Narrator , Martin Klebba as Grumpy , Jason Kravits as Sneezy , George Salazar as Happy , Andy Grotelueschen as Sleepy and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot as The Evil Queen.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very fil well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was on all honesty not that bad. However at the same time tho this films acting isn't really all that good either as alot of this films actors just come across as being wooden at best and miscast and first and while yes it would be really easy to say that Rachel Zegler in this movie which she is she's sadly one pf the actors that turns in a wooden performance with her being wrong for this role not also due to the fact that the character was named Snow White due to the color of her skin and Rachel Zegler isn't a white skinned person but Snow White is meant to be this eternal optimist and some one who sees the good in everyone even if they can't quite see it in themselves and that's something that Rachel Zegler just doesn't put across as that's not who she is as a person with the best actors in this whole film oddly enough being Gal Gadot as The Evil Queen as she is just quite clearly having a blast playing this role and is just having fun in each and every single scene that she's in and that is something that really does shine through in her overall performance with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the CGI for this film is Clear Angle Studios , Framestore , Moving Picture Company , ReelEye Company and Technicolor VFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho there was no need for this film to have as much CGI in it as it has as there's alot of CGI in each and every single scene of this movie and alot of it just isn't needed as while yes fair enough you have to use CGI to create the dwarfs and animals but you don't need it in any scene with the dwarfs house or any other of the scenes that don't have the animals or dwarfs in them and yet the makers of this films thought that it was best to overstuff this film with CGI and while the films effects do indeed look good what doesn't look good is the design for the dwarfs themselves as they look like something that you'd see in your nightmares and not something that you'd want to see in a family friendly Disney movie with it not really being helped that alot of the dwarfs really have nothin about them design wise that makes it easier to tell which dwarf is which which just makes it confusing when your trying to work which dwarf is which as alot of them do look the exact same when by all rights the dwarfs should all look distinct from one another and not look like the same character just copied and pasted over and over again.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some strange reason Disney is trying to make there classic version of Snow White into something that she's not as Snow White is not warrior nor is she a fighter. She's instead someone who is looking someone that will make her truly happy and that's it that's all she is and that's all she needs to be and heck the version of Snow White that we get in this film is pretty much just a carbon copy of the version of the character that we got in the 2012 film Snow White And The Huntsman and while that's great for that version of the character as it's true to that version of the story here since Disney is remaking there own classic story they absolutely needed to stick with what make those characters work almost ninety years ago but because of the fact that Disney is bent on tearing down what came before it we instead get this version of the character that isn't true to Disney's own original version of the story and instead just reeks of a character that was created in 2020 when all Disney had to do was stick with what worked for the original character and guess what it would work because that version of the character is timeless where as this version of the character ad this version of the story is already dated and will always be dated where as if they stuck to what was timeless about the original movie then we would have another movie that generations of people will be talking in ninety years time in stead of a film and a character that will be forgotten about in ninety minuets time as that's just how dated this films version of the story and of the Snow White character really are.
If there's one thing that this film did get right and was better done then the original it's that they actually fleshed out the character of The Prince who here is called Jonathan. The issue is tho is that he's not a prince in this movie he's just a villager in the Kingdom that Snow White governs when the whole point of the original film was that she wanted to marry a prince and yet here because of the fact that they changed so much the story The Prince character gets a demotion which just causes another problem with the film as the Snow White in both the original film and in the original book just wanted to fall in love with a Prince and yet here she has to settle with some nobody who don't get to find out all that much about in the first place but what little we do get to find out does at least show that the makers of this film knew how to fix the issues that the first film had as not only do they give there version of The Prince an actual name but we find out that he does remember how things used to be before The Evil Queen took over and is only fighting in the name of Snow White's father as a way to keep hope alive for people and those were good additions to the character but they could have meant so much more if they kept him as a Prince and not made some nobody that blends into the crowd when he should be standing out as if he was still a Prince then he could be doing a lot more good for the people that The Evil Queen rules over and not steel from her just because he can do as that makes him no better then The Evil Queen herself.
There would be no way to talk about this film and not talk about all of the controversy surrounding this film. With it starting all the way back when the film was first being filmed as actor Peter Dinklage didn't like the fact that Disney was keeping the dwarfs who called the film " a backwards story" and as a result of that is the fact that Disney decided to drop the dwarfs as characters and replace them with The Bandits characters only the fans of the original and several actors withing the dwarfism community didn't like the changes that Disney was making as Disney had already hired and then fired several actors with dwarfism and so then we ended up with these CGI messes of characters but oddly enough the biggest load of controversy surrounding the film came from the fact that star Rachel Zegler just didn't know when to keep quiet as she frequently bad mouth the original film and even saying that there version of The Prince is so inconsequential to the plot of the movie that his scenes could have been cut from the entirely but this is what Disney gets when they hire someone who openly admitted to not even seeing the original film until AFTER she got the role in this film with her even trying to claim more money from people because of the fat she had to wear a dress and that's it and in all honesty the biggest controversy surrounding the film is Rachel Zegler herself as she did more harm to the film then good as she just didn't know when to keep to quite and when your film has a budget of around three hundred millions dollars and the film is currently tracking to make somewhere around forty five to fifty million dollars on it's opening weekend that is not good with the film needing to make somewhere around seven hundred million dollars just to break even which it luckily won't do.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty minuets and fifty six seconds. Which to be fair to this film is alot more shorter then alot of the other live action Disney remakes and again to this films credit it really does have more then enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time but in saying that tho this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the things that they do add on to the film aren't fully developed enough to become interesting and are at best filler scenes that are only there to pad the film out when truth be told this film doesn't even padding out as all they had to do was stick to the original films script and that's it but because of the fact Disney so scared to take a chance on a classic tale and let it remain timeless they have to make all of these change that don't have any impact on the plot of the film like the fact that we're told that both The Queen and pretty soon after The King die not long after the fact that The King marries The Evil Queen however nothing from that short montage of events effects the plot of the film outside of it being used to explain How The Evil Queen got into the position of Queen in the first place with the things that should be explained and explored like the fact that The Evil Queen is now tied to the fate of The Magic Mirror so when she destroys The Magic Mirror at the end of the movie she now gets sucked into it that is something that should have been explained as it's a key plot point but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is musical that really means that I have to actually talk about the actual songs that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual songs that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film not only using some of the original songs but also incorporating new songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul with help from Jack Feldman with the new songs being fine and them all sung well by singer Rachel Zegler but there lacking that extra special something that made the original songs stand out and while a few of the original songs not only make an appearance in this film and are use really well all they end up doing is reminding us the audience that we could be watching a much more better film this is despite the fact that "Heigh-Ho" is not only one of the more better songs in the movie it's also a song that's just fun and not afraid to be daft and silly while from the new songs we actually have this films version of an "I Want" song from Snow White called "Waiting on a Wish" which is actually a pretty decent song with even The Evil Queen getting a song called "All Is Fair" which is just a fun number and "Waiting On A Wish" is the better new song for the film to have interms of new songs that are just plain old fun to see in the film your not going to get better then "All Is Fair" but the film really could have done with using more of the original films songs as those are the songs that people want to see done up in live action in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall yeah this film is just as bad as you all thought it would be and then some as the film completely misses the mark with what it was that made the original film just so good and so timeless in the first place with this film being a film that will be forgotten about in a months time and will be shove onto Disney+ within two months time as this film is just that bland and forgettable as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Coma and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official Disney fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official Disney fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official Disney fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
