Avengers: Age Of Ultron Film Review
Marvel used to be capable of turning out nothing but hit film after hit film especially with those film that are set within the confides of the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet recently they've seem to have lost there touch with them turning out more bad movies then good ones. Well I thought that i'd talk about a movie that was made back when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was actually good and making money as those films seem to be few and far between these days and so then join me as I review the film that actually sets up alot of stuff that happens in later movies with the film in question being called simply just "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when Tony Stark accidentally creates and AI that goes rouge and threatens to destroy the entire world it's up to the Avengers and a few new recruits to put stop to the AI names Ultron before it's far to late. Now then interms of what Impersonally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it was the kind of plot that really does advance the characters in a way that does feel true to who they are as characters as well as being a plot that is actually pretty dark inn some places which is something that could put alot of people off of watching especially if you think of Marvel as being nothing more then this cheery film universe and yet in this film they have main characters dying which not only adds stakes to the film but it also informs a characters own personal character arc as well and while plot wise this films plot isn't as good as either the plot of the first or the next two Avengers film it's also a plot that could have been alot worse then what we ended up getting as by all rights this a plot that shouldn't have worked due to it being more focused on setting up other characters and others things that get paid off or play a bigger role in other movies then it is in telling a good plot in it's own right something that quite clearly wasn't an issue with the previous film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man , Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk. Also starring in this film is Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America , Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff , Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton , Don Cheadle as James Rhodes / War Machine , Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff , Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff , Paul Bettany as Vision / J.A.R.V.I.S. , Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill , Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon , Linda Cardellini as Laura Barton , Stellan Skarsgård as Doctor Erik Selvig , Claudia Kim as Doctor Helen Cho , Thomas Kretschmann as Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker , Kerry Condon as The Voice Of F.R.I.D.A.Y. , James Spader as The Voice Of Ultron , Josh Brolin as Thanos , Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's not all that surprising as this films actors are a bunch of really good actors who do know how to turn in a good performance with the vast majority of them also reprising their roles from previous MCU movies and as such they really would know how best to perform there respective character and what kind of performance would best suit there respective character in any given situation as well and for all of his faults as human being as director tho Joss Wheadon really does know how to get a good performance out of his actors something that he has shown on various projects and it's something that he does once again show here as all of this films actors do indeed turn in some really good performance with the same thing also being true for all of this films newer actors as well they more then hold there own when it comes to acting alongside this films returning actors with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just the ay lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the CGI for this film is Industrial Light & Magic , Virtuos , Double Negative , Trixter , Method Studios , Lola Visual Effects , Animal Logic , Framestore , Cantina Creative , Soho VFX , Luma Pictures , RISE Visual Effects Studios , Zoic Studios , Blur Studio , Secret Lab , BlackGinger , capital T , Crafty Apes and Technicolor Creative Services VFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which is nothing that's all that surprising given just what effects companies are involved with this film and yet given just how many effects companies that are involved with the making of this film it would have been super easy for the film to have alot of really bad looking effects in it and while yes granted there are few bad looking effects especially more nearer the end of the movie those are very few and far between with the film having alot more good effects that bad ones with the best example of this being The Hulk who looks go good in this movie as he actually looks like that he was there on set and not added in later thanks to being created on a computer with Ultron himself even lookin really good for the most part as while yes there some shots in this movie where Ultron look pretty bad for the most part he looks like a really well done character in this effects heavy film.
Speaking of Ultron while he's not all that memorable of a villain which is something that is very sadly the case or not only Marvel as a whole but for comic book movies as a whole as well. He was at the very least a step in the right direction as he is a really threatening villain who does test our heroes and push them to become better heroes with him even having an end goal which to wipe out all of human kind as thanks to his own warped sense of justice he now views all humans as being worthless and seeing him be willing to do anything to archive his goal even if it means betraying his own followers does make him a villain that is at the very least a better remembered villain then some of the more recent MCU villains but at the same time tho this is a character that should have been done alot better as the makers of this film give alot of jokes all of which undercut just serious of a character that he really is as it makes him come across as being a goofy villain when in actuality he should be treated as being a very serious threat not only to the planet earth but our main heroes as well as he could very easily beat all of them if he really wanted to and yet it's duo to own ego that they ultimately end up winning the day and if the makers of this film made him more scary and removed all of the jokes with his character then it really would have gone a long way into making him a more memorable villain as well and yet because of the fact that this character does have alot of badly done jokes it makes him less serious of a threat and there for just another badly done Marvel but thankfully this is a step in the right direction as Marvel really would create a great villain in the very next Avengers film Avengers: Infinity War.
This film does set up alot of stuff that either gets more developed in other and better movies or gets alot paid off in other movies. Which is a huge issue as this film should have been more focused on telling it's own story as we don't need to know that Tony and Ulysses Klaue once knew each other as that's not something that adds to the plot of this film nor do we need to see Wanda and Vision have a love at first sight moment as that's not important to this film either and by all rights those two shouldn't have fallen in this film either as she had just lost her brother and he had quite literally just been born and they both didn't spend long together in this films third act with the film showing more focus on setting up things for other films like the fact that The Hulk leaves earth for no reason which again adds nothing to this films plot and it's something that really does come out of nowhere with all of these moments and more taking away vital screen time from the films plot and yet if you compare this film to not only the first Avengers movie but also the other two Avengers films all of those films have one thing in common and that's the fact that they are more focused on telling there own story and making that story as good as it could be where as this film takes the complete opposite approach and because of that is the fact that it makes this film look more like a big budgeted trailer for the other MCU movies and yet when this film does indeed focus more on it's story then we get some truly wonderful scenes like the fact that it's revealed that Clint not only has a wife but also kids which really does hit it home that these are the people that these superhuman character are fighting for and that Clint might just be the most human of them all because of the fact that he has a family to come home to at the end of the day.
While the other movies would straight up confirm this but this movie does very strongly hint at Wanda being the most powerful Avenger. As we see her before her brothers death more then hold her own again several dozen of Ultron's soldiers and yet after her brother has been killed she not only holds her own against several more of them but is also really the only one to do any real damage to Ultron himself something that alot of the other Avengers including Vision at this point in time have failed to and all of that is because of the fact that her brother killed trying to save Clint and this is something that makes you wonder just how powerful she really is and really could have been if she had been given any form of training as if she was given training she perhaps could have taken Thanos on all by herself and do some real damage to him something that we do actually see her do in Avengers: Endgame however what does let the character is also something that they did get rid of was her accent as it just doesn't suit the character at all and while that might be a very minor thing to complain about it is something that does get annoying after a while and while the writing for the character could have been a little bit better as she's not really given much of a personality in this film that is also something that does get fixed over the characters next few film appearances and while it doesn't fix the issue in this film it is more understandable as the actors in these MCU films do sign on for more then one film at a time and so it does make sense that the writers of those other films would then take the time needed to really fix her characters and more her a more well rounded character.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty one minuets and eighteen seconds. Which even for a comic book movie is such a ling time for this film to have and while this film does have more then enough there interms of plot ot really cover that amount of running time there's really no need for this fil to be as long as it is as all it does is fill the film with long scenes that don't need to be as long as they are with the film not even using it's extended running time all that wisely either as none of the films newer characters get any kind of character development with all the character development instead being replaced with jokes which granted can be funny at times but when there coming at the expense of giving the characters actual character development and not just using the same jokes that Joss Wheadon would repat in his own version of Justice League then there is something quite wrong with this film and it's running time is a huge part of the issue as by all rights this is a film that really should have been around two hours and no longer then that but because of the fac that the film has to set up several other characters and tell bad jokes for no reason whatsoever we now get scenes that add nothing to the overall plot of the film and would have been much more better off being left on the cutting room but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With it being clear as day that this films writer and director Joss Wheadon put alot more effort into this films action then he did the rest of the film as it's during this films that the film does start to come alive with it always being cool seeing all of these heroes fighting together and using there powers together somethin that really was only done the once in the first first film and yet here because of the fact that the characters are more established it happens all of the time and it's something that does really work really well for this film with the one major issue with this films action it's that this films third act really could have been trimmed down quite alot as it does get quite exhausting to watch after awhile but it's also during this films epic third act that we get to see alot of really cool moments be it from seeing Wanda take on several of Ultron's soldiers all by herself to seeing the whole team come together in one epic shot where we get to see all of the Avengers taking on several of Ultron's solders there really is tons of cool moments to be found in all of this films many action scenes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall while the rest of the Avengers films are quite easily better then this one this is still a really good film in it's own right as while it doesn't quite recapture the magic of the first film it is still a film that knows exactly what it is and isn't afraid of just being a dumb comic book movie in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all o the good and as well as all of the bad thing that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and the official marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the really great the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page are all really high quality really with all of the images that really are all and of course really currently up and on the really great and the really solid the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
