Logan Film Review
The character of Wolverine is the most popular character from the X-Men so much so that he has appeared in all but one of the X-Men films and is the only X-Men character to get his own spin off solo films as well. With the character due to make a comeback in this Friday's Deadpool & Wolverine it's time to do a tie in review and well to say that it was hard to choose what film would be the tie in review was difficult was a huge understatement to say the least and so then join me as I review the film that finally sees Logan die with the film in question being called simply just "Logan" enjoy.
The plot of this film is in 2029 and ageing Logan is forced to go on the run with an ageing Charles Xavier and a young girl when an agency becomes hell bent on taking the child back by any means necessary. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of this film giving us a ore grown up and grounded take on Logan and the world of the X-Men in a way that not only makes sense for the characters but also makes sense for the world that this film is taking place in as well with the plot of this film being really well focused as well and as a result of that is the fact that we get a plot that is really new and refreshing as well with this films plot not really being something that's been done both before and since this film was released with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine and X-24 and Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X. Also starring in this film is Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce , Stephen Merchant as Caliban , Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice , Eriq La Salle as Will Munson , Scream 2 star Elise Neal as Kathryn Munson , Fear The Walking Dead star Elizabeth Rodriguez as Gabriela Lopez , Dafne Keen as Laura / X-23 , Quincy Fouse as Nate Munson , Jason Genao as Rictor , Lennie Loftin as Jackson , Bryant Tardy as Bobby , Alison Fernandez as Delilah , Doris Morgado as Maria and David Kallaway as Danny Rhodes.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast members turning in some really good performances which does make alot of sense as alot of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors and really do now how to turn some really good performances and in the case of Hugh Jack and Sir Patrick Stewart have been playing there characters for seventeen years at that point in time and there do know what kind of performance would best suit there respective characters in any given scene however alot of the credit does also gave to go to this films co-writer , co-producer and director James Mangold really does know how to get a good performance out of his cast something that does prove even in Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny with that also being the case for this film as well with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.
Doing the CGI for this film is Image Engine Design , Soho VFX , Rising Sun Pictures , Lola Visual Effects , Symbient Interactive and Fin Design & Effects. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good for the most part as the film does make use of hidden CGI for the most part as apart from obvious uses of CGI like all of the claw extensions which do look really good the CGI in this film is mainly used to extended what was already there on the set which is a great to use CGI as all your doing is enhancing something that was already there and that you possibly couldn't ave done on the day of filming and while yes the film do use CGI for the mutant powers near the end of thew film that is something that you have to do as you can't recreate mutant powers using practical effects but on the flip side of that is the fact that there are some really obvious CGI doubles in this film which are very distracting to see as all they do is remind you that your watching a film which does take you out of the film.
This film does give us a rather interesting dynamic that being the fact that Logan in this film is a father to Laura. Which is something that none of the other films have dared to tackle and that is a shame as going down that route does allow for the film to have alot more deeper moments ans be alot more adult then what it really could have been with the film tackling the relationship for a father who didn't know that he was a father and daughter that's almost exactly like her father due to the DNA that the company that created her gave her which does make for an interesting in this film as we get to see both characters learn to trust one another and form a some what functional family unit something that both characters have been missing either for there entire lives as in the case of Laura or in the case of Logan something that they haven't had for some time at this point but either way they've both become jaded and almost closed off because of what it is that they've been going through and yet it's because of that they go through in this film that they learn to trust one another which does make there character arc really interesting.
The villains of this film are perhaps the weakest element of this film just because of the fact that there's not alot of focus given to those characters. As we don't really get to find out why this films villains are evil in the first place nor do we get to find out what there end goal is and as a result of that is the fact that the films villains just come across as being boring and flat characters that had the potential to be some really good villains due to who's playing playing them in this film and yet for one reason or another they just come across as characters that aren't as interesting as the films main characters with the same thing also being true for X-24 who had all of the potential to be an interesting villain due to the fact that he's quite literally a clone of Logan only without a soul and yet that character does come across as being a wasted character even tho the film does all that they possibly could have done with that character and even tho the films villains aren't that good and while that would usually effect the films heroes as it would normally make them less interesting here it doesn't do that as the heroes have interesting characters arcs outside of the villains that the heroes come of looking good while the villains still come across as being some really weak villains.
This film does something that the previous didn't have the courage to do and that's kill of both Charles Xavier and Logan. With both of there scenes being a pair of really touching scenes with Charles's death scene being so emotional that it wouldn't be all that surprising if the people who made this movie cried because it is just that powerful of a scene with Charles straight up hinting that he might have killed the X-Men something of which that he's claimed all throughout the film that he couldn't remember and yet it turns out not only does he remember it but all of their deaths still effect him as he was essentially there father figure with him asking Logan for forgiveness and even tho it's not Logan that he's talking to when Logan does bury him that's him giving him that forgiveness and in the case of Logan's death scene it comes at the conclusion of the characters seventeen year journey where he learns to become a part of a family and where he learns to use his powers for good something which he teaches his daughter all throughout this film and even he didn't know her for that long they still managed to impact each others life's in a positive way.
Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films grand total even was I do know that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grad total running time of roughly two hours and seventeen minuets. Which is the perfect running time for this film to have as the film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that larger amount of running time with the film also really earning that amount of running time as everything in this film is all about advancing the characters own personal arcs and that's not something that the film could have done if the film had the more standard superhero comic book film of running time as the film has so much to do and with the film having a longer running time it allows for key scenes like the deaths of Logan and Charles to really breathe as the film can take there time with them and not have to worry about getting to the next plot point and while it would have been better if the film was alot closer to three hours as that would allow the film to fully develop it's villains that would be stretching things a bit thin and it would run the risk of making the film feel a bit boring in parts as well but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film having alot of really creative action and really taking advantage of it's more mature rating by actually not only Logan but also Laura's claws not only really going through people but also showing them cutting of limbs and heads off of people with the action in this film also being really interesting to look at with both Logan and Laura having different fighting styles in the film as to use WWE or wrestling terminology Laura has the fighting style of cruiserweight in that she can come out of anywhere and attack you from any direction where as Logan really has the fighting style of a super heavyweight in that he's just going to come out you face on so you better get ready to move because either way he's really going to be knocking you down and that is something that really does make all of the action in this very film not only really interesting to look at but also very entertaining as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall with Deadpool & Wolverine coming out this week and the release of there final trailer which does make this film an important one to watch for reasons that are spoilers for that film either way you all should be watching this film as it really is just that good of a film even seven years later in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all f the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official X-Men Movies fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images really from this very film being the really great the official X-Men Movies fandom wiki page this is really because of the fact that really all of the images that I really indeed got and really used from the official X-Men Movies fandom wiki page are all really high quality with all the images that are currently up and on the great the official X-Men Movies fandom wiki page really are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
