Inside Out 2 Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review
It's safe to say that in recent years PIXAR films haven't been doing that good mostly due to the fact that the Disney have been dumping there films onto Disney+ instead of releasing them into theaters. This did result in alot of there films not making money at the box office whenever one did get released into theaters well now the company have released another new film into theaters and well you all just knew that I had to check this film they very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give my SPOILER FILLED review the film that really didn't need to exist in the first place with the film in question being called simply just "Inside Out 2" enjoy.
The plot of this film is when new emotions come to life in Riley's mind it's up to Joy , Sadness , Fear , Disgust and Anger to work out how to work alongside them. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i im all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho the plot of this film wasn't all that good either as alot of it just felt like a watered down version of the plot of the first film only without the heart and understanding of what made those plot elements work so well in the first film and what little new things the film does plot wise whilst interesting just don't work in the grand scheme of things as they just aren't that well done with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this film is Amy Poehler as Joy , Lewis Black as Anger , Phyllis Smith as Sadness and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Also starring in this film is Tony Hale as Fear , Maya Hawke as Anxiety , Kensington Tallman as Riley Andersen , Ayo Edebiri as Envy , Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui , Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment , Diane Lane as Mrs. Andersen , Kyle MacLachlan as Mr. Andersen , Lilimar as Valentina "Val" Ortiz , Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green as Bree , Grace Lu as Grace , Yong Yea as Lance Slashblade , Yvette Nicole Brown as Coach Roberts , Ron Funches as Bloofy , James Austin Johnson as Pouchy , Steve Purcell as Deep Dark Secret , The Muppets star Dave Goelz as Mind Cop Frank , Muppets writer , director and producer Kirk Thatcher as Foreman The Muppets star Frank Oz as Mind Cop Dave , Paula Pell as Mom's Anger , June Squibb as Nostalgia , this films executive producer Pete Docter as Dad's Anger , Paula Poundstone as Forgetter Paula , John Ratzenberger as Fritz , Sarayu Blue as Margie , Flea as Jack , Bobby Moynihan as Forgetter Bobby and Kendall Coyne Schofield as The Hockey Announcer.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time alot of this films acting wasn't all that good either as while alot of this films returning cast members do indeed turn in some really good performances it's alot of this films newer cast members that don't turn good performances as while Tony Hale as Fear , Liza Lapira as Disgust and Ayo Edebiri as Envy are all good in this film alot of this films newer cast members just aren't that good with the best example of this being Maya Hawke as Anxiety who just turns in what could only be at best be described as a boring performance instead of the over the top performance that a character like Anxiety really needed with this not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives none of the films cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does bring down the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.
Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Pixar Animation Studios and Titmouse. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty person ally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which is to be expected as PIXAR have always had some really good animation in all of their films with this film having some great looking animation in it with this film also making use of 2D animation as well which while not as impressive as the 3D CGI animation was that is kind of the point given the context of the 2D animation when it really comes to the film but at the same time tho the animation in not only the first Inside Out film but also in films like Elemental or really even older films like Toy Story 3 for example have better animation then the animation that's in this film.
SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!
As was really expected given the ending the first film this film does age Riley up so that she's now a teenager. However the film doesn't take fully advantage of that by giving her emotions that you would naturally get as a teenager aa there's no love or there's no jealousy nor any emotion that a teenager would naturally feel and because of that fact having Riley now be a teenager feels like something that they had to do because it's a sequel and not because of the fact that it's something that adds to actual plot of the film as the film very easily could have taken place with Riley still being twelve years old and nothing would need to be changed and yet while having Riley aged up does make sense as does allow to show how we as people do mature as we get older at the same time tho there still needs to be a reason why this has happened in the film as many people do feel all anxious , embarrassed , envious and bored even when there not a teenager as there not emotions that are exclusive to that period of your life there something that you feel even when your very young and as a result of that is the fact that having her aged up whilst it is a good way to show a passage of time it's also something that feels more like an after thought rather then something that's important to the actual plot of the film.
To this films credit it does do a good job of expanding the world inside of Riley's mind by showing us new portions of her mind. Like by showing us what the back of her mind looks like and by showing us what her stream of consciousness looks like and while yes they are really literal in what they look like that was also something that was dine in the first film and the film does take full advantage of those settings by showing us the audience what they look like whenever Riley does change her mind like when she's hungry she's always thinking of food or when she's had something that she doesn't like she's thinking about things that remind of her of those things which are things that are genuinely quite creative and it does go along way to show us the audience that the makers of this film do have somewhat of an understanding as to what it was made the film so memorable and so heartbreaking in the first place as the first film did have these simple concepts that both kids and adults can understand something which is present in this film as well.
For some reason this film chose to have villain with that villain oddly enough being Anxiety which is something that really doesn't work. Not because of the fact that Anxiety is a bad villain altho that is a big part of it but it's also more due to the fact that these films really doesn't need to have an outright villain in order for them to work and while yes it could be argued that Joy was the villain of the first film while she didn't act like a villain she does fill in that role here tho a villain really isn't needed as it's story that really demand a villain and while Anxiety can at times be a fun character as can alot of the new emotions she's not that good of a villain as she has no clear end goal and she doesn't really act villainous at all as she's only acting how somebody who is anxious would act and that is something that does send the wrong message as it tells the audience that it's wrong to feel that way where as the first film tought us that it's OK to feel sad sometimes and that sometimes feeling sad is the only way for you to heel this film instead tells you that if your feeling anxious about something then your in the wrong when instead the message should be that it's OK to feel like that at times but if the film wanted a villain then why not have an emotion that makes you doubt yourself be the main villain of the film as that would still get the main point of the film across really well.
Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty four minuets. Which is a solid running time for this film to have with this really being helped by the fact that the film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time however while the film does take the time to tell it's plot it doesn't take the time to fully develop all of it's new characters with the new emotions coming across as being rather bland and forgettable and the new human characters not really adding to the plot and are there just to fill out the side characters and because of that they also come across as being rather bland and forgettable as well compare this with the first film where all of the emotions in that film were all memorable characters who were all able to become fully developed characters and the same thing also being true for the films human side characters as well this is despite the fact that both films had a very similar running time to it as well but I will admit that this film really does have some rally good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured /m presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time the comedy in this film isn't all good either as while Disgust was easily the funniest character in the first film here it felt loke that the makers of the film tones down her sassy attitude and because of that is the fact that the film lost alot of it's sense of humor and while the film does have a funny character in both Envy and Ennui and heck alot of the new emotions get a chance to be funny character at one point or another in this film alot of the films jokes just don't land as much as they did in the first film with alot of this films jokes coming across as jokes that are very watered down and jokes that you'd only get if you were a kid where as the jokes in the first film felt like they were jokes that the whole family would get and they come across as being timeless because of that fact in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Overall this film isn't as good as the first film which given how perfect that the first film was never going to be the case and is a good example of this film not really being needed as your not going to top something that was done so perfectly the first time around and to think overwise really is just being plain old foolish in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all pf the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official PIXAR fandom wiki page , the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the really great the official PIXAR fandom wiki page this is because really all of the images that I really got and used from the official PIXAR fandom wiki page are all really high quality with really of all the images that really are currently up and on the great the official PIXAR fandom wiki page are all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
