Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie Film Review

Hollywood makes thousands of bad movies every single year and well while this movie isn't one of them. It does come from a show that made it's name making jokes about bad movies with the show itself still going somewhat strong all of these later and while the show itself has somewhat dwindled in popularity it is a show that has still influenced alot of a people and as such making a movie does somewhat make sense and so then join me as I review the film that is just basically a shorter episode of the show with the film in question being called simply just "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is evil mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester decides to show his test subject Mike Nelson the movie This Island Earth in an effort to break his will and take over the world once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it's just as a simple of a plot as you'd expect from an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and expecting them to somehow make it more epic then what it really needs to be for the movie really wouldn't make that much sense as the plot of the film is perfect representation of what a typical plot of the show is like with the plot of the film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is this films co-writer Michael J. Nelson as Mike Nelson and this films co-writer and one of this films producers Trace Beaulieu as Crow T. Robot and Dr. Clayton Forrester. Also starring in this film is this films co-writer and one of this films producers Kevin Murphy as Tom Servo , this films director , co-producer and co-writer Jim Mallon as The Voice Of Gypsy and John Brady as Benkitnorf.

Now then interms of what I personally thought  felt about the actual acting that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As all of the films cast really do turn in some really good performances in this film but at the same time tho as the film really isn't all that heavy on actual plot none of the films cast get the chance to really show of what they can do acting wise which in some ways do make sense as they've had several episodes of the show to fully get across what there characters personalities are like but at the same time tho given that not alot of people who are watching this movie would have watched the show they really should have gotten across what it is that there characters personalities are like just to get more people to tune into the show with the acting in this film really being helped by the fat that this films script is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help the overall quality of the acting in this film.

As this is a movie the makers behind this film really did go out of there to make it look like an actual film and not like something that would be seen in an episode of the show. With this movie being a huge visual upgrade from what we were getting in the show at the time with us also getting more of where our heroes live which is something that the show would never do as well as all of the sets being alot bigger then what they were on the show on the whole the makers of the film really did make sure that this looks like a film and not just an episode of the show which is something that really does give fans of the show a reason to watch the film as there going to be seeing things that they won't be able to get to see in a stereotypical episode of the show all of which really are things that really do make this film worth watching as the film really is just all that visually impressive to look at and all of which are things that make this film standout from an average episode of the show.

For some reason when making this film Universal Pictures ordered that one of the films host segments be cut for time. With the major cut for this film being the one that pays of a scene set up earlier on the film as in the original cut of the film early one in the film Mike saves the lives of Tom , Crow and Gypsy well there's a delated scene that pays it off as during a meteor shower a pipe for the oxygen is damaged and it's up to the bots to save Mike's life which they manage to do in a rather touching scene why this scene was the one to go is hard to say as it is something that is a pay off to something that was set up in the film and given that that even with this scene being included the film would still come in at well underneath one hour and thirty minuets which means that the reason for cutting it for time doesn't make that much sense and even the re-shot ending still feels rushed and nothing like they would do in the show and yet the ending that was originally due to be in the film felt more in line with what they would do in the show.

When this film was going to be made by Paramount Pictures they originally wanted it to have more of a focus on the bots origins and less of a focus on them making fun of a movie. This is something that doesn't make sense as the shows original intro theme quite clearly states that Joel made all of the robots and as a result of that is the fact that you couldn't do an origin story without bringing Joel back and even then as was just mentioned there original was covered in the shows original intro and having less of a focus on making fun of a movie just goes along way to prove that they had no idea what the show was even about as while yes doing both an origin story for the bots and having less of a focus on making fun of movies would be a great way to bring in new fans it would also risk making the actual fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 angry as they no the lore of the show and they know what the show is about.

The movie that our heroes are watching in this film is This Island Earth and while usually Mystery Science Theater 3000 would only pick out bad movies to featured on the show. By all accounts This Island Earth is actually a good movie with the movie only being chosen because of the fact that the writers of this movie thought that the wrong character was the main hero and that's really it and to be fair that's only the reason that they need as the only really bad movie that they could have featured Manos: The Hands Of Fate was already featured on the show which makes no sense as that would have made a better movie to feature in this movie as it's one of the worst films ever made and featuring it in this movie would make alot more sense and it would give the fans of the show something that they've always wanted to see only instead of being on the small big it would be up on the big screen and as we see in this movie the cast could get away with doing and saying alot more things about the movie that they wouldn't be able to say and do during an episode of the show.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour ad fourteen minuets and two seconds. With the movie being roughly fifteen to twenty minuets shorter then an average episode of the shoe and as a result of is is the fact that the movie that's being featured also has huge chunks of it missing which is odd as even in the show they very rarely if ever cut out huge chunks of whatever movie was being featured on the show that week and yet due to the studio wanting a shorter running time that's exactly what happens and while this doesn't effect the overall plot of This Island Earth it is something weird that they would do in this movie especially as there's no president set for it in the show itself with this being all the more odd as the movie has very little in the way of plot to begin with and as such there's no reason for this film to be shorter then an average episode of the show but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in al honesty really good. With this film having alot of painfully moments init with all of the films best jokes being when there watching movie and there just having fun with the movie and while yes the host segments do have some good jokes in them nothing will ever beat what they say when there watching the movie as that's when we get the characters just acting like themselves and that is really fun to see and it gives us alot of funny moments and alot of funny banter between all three characters all of which make the jokes in this film alot more funnier then what they really had any right to be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this movie is a great film for people who haven't seen Mystery Science Theater 3000 as it gives you a good idea of what the show is like as the movie is basically just a shorter version of the show but on the big screen with this being both a really good and bad thing good because it gives the fans exactly what they'd expect to see but bad because it also gives you nothing that's all that new either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Mystery Science Theater 3000 fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the great and the really truly legendary Google Images this is because alot of not all of the images that I really got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great and legendary Google Images with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
