Godzilla Vs Kong 2021 Film Review

With the Godzilla franchise hitting new highs with the enormous success of Godzilla Minus you might be forgiven if you forgot that there was yet another new Godzilla film coming out this in fact it's out in little under a weeks time. With the latest installment of the Monsterverse hitting the big screen this coming Friday I thought that now was the absolutely right time to take a look back at the film that is technically the second time that these two titans fought each other and so then join me as I review the film that sees Godzilla brawl with Kong Kong with the film in question being called simply just "Godzilla Vs Kong" enjoy.

The plot of the film is when Godzilla starts attacking for a seemingly unknown reason it's up to a bunch of scientists to get Kong out of danger all the while there's something sinister going on something that only Godzilla and Kong can stop. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it was a fun plot to have in this film but at the same time tho it's also a plot that's not really all that good either as it doesn't really explain why Kong and Godzilla are enemies in way that's satisfactory and while this kind of film really does deserve a dumb plot as after all it's two giant monsters fighting each other both characters come from franchise that also give them plots that can make you think as well as keep you entertained with the plot of this film also being really entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Alexander Skarsgård as Dr. Nathan Lind and Millie Bobby Brown as Madison Russell. Also starring in this film is Kyle Chandler as Dr. Mark Russell , Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews , Kaylee Hottle as Jia , Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes , Shun Oguri as Ren Serizawa , Eiza González as Maia Simmons , Julian Dennison as Josh Valentine , Lance Reddick as Guillerman and Demián Bichir as Walter Simmons.

Now then interms f what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As Godzilla films aren't really known for having good acting in them with the same thing being true for alot of the King Kong films as well and yet that's exactly what we get in this film as all of the actors in this film really do give us some good acting for the most part as while alot of the films cast do deliver a good performance there are some actors that don't really give us all that good of a good performance which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting in this film with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is so good that all the cast for this film have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them really naturally.

Doing the CGI for this film is Scanline VFX , Wētā FX , Moving Picture Company , Luma Pictures and Pix Entertainment. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good which really isn't all that surprising given the companies that are involved with making this film with this film having alot of really good CGI effects in it and while yes the film does have some bad looking CGI effects with alot of the water effects in this film not looking all that good but those effects are very few and far between with the film having alot more good looking CGI effects like all of the monsters and fire effects for example then it does have some really bad looking CGI effects in it.

Lets be real here nobody goes into a Godzilla movie expecting the human characters side of the plot to be that good and the human characters to be that good either. However here it kind of felt like that Madison was taking alot of focus away from the titular monsters as she does get alot of screen time but her character wasn't fully developed in the previous and as such her character isn't all that good in this film as she really was never meant to have alot of screen time she was meant to play second fiddle to the monsters and while you could argue that that is also the case with this film as well given that she has really quite alot of screen time it does make it appear as if she's meant to be the main human character which just doesn't work as her character isn't really all that interesting however the film does have a somewhat interesting human character in Jia who is basically Kongs support system like what Madison is to Godzilla how Jia is more interesting of a character as she has some flaws that she has to overcome like the fact that she always runs into danger to protect Kong but it's those flaws that really make her a more interesting character then what Madison is.

Sadly things don't get all that much better with films human villain Walter Simmons played by Demián Bichir. Who is just a bland and forgettable villain who is just basically a rip off of the villain from the previous film even down to him having something to do with a famous Godzilla villain and really the villain from the previous film would have made a more interesting villain and it would have provided more continuity between the two films as the end of the previous straight up hinted of there being more to his story and yet here we just get a lesser version of that character with Walter not really having a plan or a reason for being evil outside of wanting to make more money and that's really it and that's not enough to make him an interesting and while he is a charismatic villain he's a villain that's not all the well written as the film fails to give us a reason as to why we don't want to see this person succeed in whatever his plan is and as he has no reason for being evil at all he just comes across as being evil for the sake of being evil and that's really it and that really doesn't make him all that much of an interesting character.

This film does introduce MechaGodzilla into the Monsterverse and while he does have a really cool design and is used well. He's not really that much of a threat compare that to his original counterpart who made Godzilla bleed several times and almost defeated the King Of Monsters it makes this version feel tame this is despite him being able to take on both King Kong and Godzilla at the exact same time and really hold his own against the pair of them and while he isn't all that threatening when compared to his Japanese original counterpart he does have a really cool looking design which does have a sense of menace about it and it's that design that makes him look like an interesting character even tho how they have to pilot him is very reminiscent of Pacific Rim when the makers of the film really should have come up with something new and different instead of something that just makes you think of a much more better film.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this film grand total running time even was I do know that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and forty nine minuets. Which does make this film one of the shortest films in the Monsterverse and while the Godzilla films from Japan do have close to a similar running time the Monsterverse films are typically over two hours with that two hour plus running time being the better running as this film has more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time with this shorter running time feeling like something that was really enforced upon the film makers by Warner Bros Pictures in order for them to fit in more screenings of the film but because of that the film really does feel incomplete quite alot of the time but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films actin being the best part of the film as it's where the film gets to be the most fun and really know what it is as when the film showing us an action scene it's trying to be more a,bout the human cast instead of being just the big and dumb monster movie that we really want it to be and yet it's when the film has an action scene that we get to see that big and dumb monster movie with the action in this film being just pure dumb fun to watch with the best action scene in this film being the final fight between Godzilla , King Kong and MechaGodzilla in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while yes this film is an incredibly fun film that more then delivers on all of the monster mayhem it's also a film that's quite clearly not as good as Godzilla: King Of The Monsters was as that film new that it was big and dumb monster movie and didn't try to be anything more then that where as the opposite is true when it comes to this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Wikizilla , the official Godzilla fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Godzilla fandom wiki page this is because alot of not all of the images that I really got for this review and that are still of course currently up and really are on the really great the official Godzilla fandom wiki page with them all being really fairly high in quality and as well as them all really being fairly high in definition.
